Ten Reasons your HVAC tech may have his cell phone out when repairing your HVAC system. After someone commented to me, "Why should I have to pay a technician who had his cell phone out?", I decided to make this video explaining some of the reasons you're going to see this practice more and more. Cell phones have become a tool in their own right in repairing things in this society. So not everyone with their phone out is wasting your time and money. This video explains some of times an HVAC tech will have a smart phone out on the job.

This is why I try to use a tablet whenever possible. You could literally be scrolling reddit or doing anything you usually do on a phone but tablets simply look more professional. It's kinda like how teachers, instructors, and professors don't allow phones out but won't say anything about laptops which you can do literally the same things on both devices. Thinking about appearance can get you out of alot of potential trouble.

Also manuals and schematics are easier to read, and it's easier to show to the customer or an apprentice

I spend all day on the phone with techs helping them with issues they haven't seen before or issues they cannot figure out. Good techs, new techs, veteran techs, all of the above. Stuff changes fast and techs don't always get the luxury of attending classes for everything. It's better they call for help rather than not call and make an issue worse.

Joshua Griffin this video is excellent. Some of the older clients may not be very familiar with all of these new technologies. Hope they can watch the video since you covered all points in a very clear manner. I'm impressed. Service area Nepean??

As a tech, idc what the customers think when I’m on my phone. Excluding using the phone for work. If I’m pulling a vacuum and everything is put together and I’m just waiting, then if I want to call the wife or anyone for that matter it’s none of your business. What the people that get but hurt over this don’t understand, is that techs during the summer are so busy that we literally eat, sleep and work repeat. Except the eat part is about 50/50. Sometimes talking on the phone is the only way we can communicate with loved ones because we are stuck at the customers house all the time!
