We did a retrofit equipment on a walk in cooler that needed some love, we ended up using the ZoomLock Max press fittings instead of brazing.

I've seen a local tech use lokring compress fittings, seems a bit different. I've used Mapress by Geberit myself on waterlines which looks like zoomlock max

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Frank says:

Cool ..we use shark bite on drain traps…easy to take apart to clean.. Are you in Orleans ?

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hola! JMG Refrigeration says:

Do not like the zoom lock unless needed. The look and possible need to un weld something is why. I would have rather left base valves and brazed into them, just my preference.
Nice work though bud! Looks good for what you were trying to prove about tool

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Rece says:

small equipment I'll use a sign truck save a ton. Lot times 150 bucks get em out. Service area Barrhaven??

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars JJ James says:

How trustworthy are the zoom lock fittings? Service area Kanata??

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Justin Smith says:

I have not used any of the press fittings, but I was told on the plumbing Pro-Press that the b o-ring was not the main seal….but the main seal is the copper on copper seal formed with the high pressure crimp.

I hope to add it to my bag of tricks because I definitely have had times where it would have made a job much easier.

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars spike001ton says:

so possible tip keep a dedicated fitting for the depth checks that way you have a "beater" for rough testing and the only time the new one going on is final fitting before crimping Service area Ottawa??

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars keenan walker says:

What’s the difference between this and the rls system? Which is what my company was using for a bit.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Sean Harkins says:

Just a heads up, I tortured tested those zoomlock and propress fittings (Just basically all the wrong ways to do it, no pipe prep etc.) and they can take ALOT more than you would figure. The only way i actually managed to tear one of the O-rings was slamming the pipe into the fitting on an angle with no de-burring.

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Travis Hamilton says:

I really appreciate the fact that this guy does the little things like putting a bushing on the other side of the connector or making sure he uses the water tight EMT compression connectors rather than just throwing a regular compression connector on it. It's the little things like this that I feel like that actually separates the average guy from real professionals and I must say this guy a real professional

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joshua Marshall says:

Exposed EMT? I would not have guessed, that pipe won't last in the elements. Better option would be rigid or epoxy coated emt, possibly rigid pvc or carflex ? Love your channel and love learning about HVAC. Electrician by trade and always try to use pride in my work like you do ! Thank you for providing a good example for other tradesmen ! Also I thought you pipe didn't look bad at all!

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jason Farmer says:

I remember hearing about zoom lock. An my boss at that present time didn't want to even try it. Nice to see how smooth a install goes.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike Meadows says:

why use emt and not tec cable ( rubber coated armour cable)?

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars knockitofff says:

I couldn't imagine just having warm weather year round, I'd go on a shooting spree LOL!!! BTW, used the Milwaukee pro press tool today to install a pressure regulating valve for a cooling tower on a 1" feed line, gotta love that thing, done in no time flat!

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Cory Mccarthy says:

Love the cinderblock holders! I worked with plumber who had a pro press. I thought it was cool.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dan D says:

great video! but not to knock u down, ur a good mechanic, id left the cond. valves on so u could do a pump down test on compressor, set LP or pump down liquid line and know theres no pressure, king valve front seated will read receiver pressure only.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Duke Stripling says:

How did you lower the old evap down and then raise the new one up?

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Walker says:

The press tool is expensive but can possibly cheaper and safer for reasons, no fire risk. Good job.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars cshin58 says:

    Another great job and video!

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kyle Lickfelt says:

How do u figure out your winter charge

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars THIEN VU says:

    Great video, thanks for sharing

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jim Barzee says:

Looked like a great install. I would like to try Zoomlok when applicable. good job!

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Deoran Ferguson says:

I've always wanted to see you use the zoom lock I really am going to invest in that for my company Are you in Nepean ?

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars davor maplenik says:

Didn't know press fittings can be used for freon… In EU we use this system for water (stainless fittings), heating (so called carbon steel fittings) or natural gas (stainless or copper fittings) for gas boilers. What's the operating pressure for r22, like 20bar ? Will it hold? I've had leaks with this fittings on much lesser pressure, especially with copper fitings. Really want to know if it's ok to use for freon Service area Orleans??

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars nhzxboi says:

You lose the thrill of an accidental fire with that tooling. Damn. The excitement is gone.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars quadruple_negative says:

I've only watched a couple of your videos and I have to say that the air con trade seems to be as diverse as the pump trade. You have a bit of electrical, plumbing and mechanical fitting all mixed together. Of course, you probably don't have to deal with raw sewage like we do lol. Are you in Kanata ?

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars uakz kah says:

Whenever we run a line set through a cooler top or wall we always put in a piece of PVC first and put the line set through the PVC, prevents The line set from rubbing through on the sharp metal edge of the cooler

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars SK Facilities says:

Press tools are awesome, I got my plumber the dewalt, but the fittings are so damn spendy Repairs with water still dripping is great.

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Greenberet says:

so refreshing to see working with brand new stuff for once…its all so shiny! lol

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars 89DHVAC says:

My local United says you can’t zoom lock soft copper….I’m guessing that’s not correct? Or no one else has been told that anyway….

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hvac Matters says:

I’m old school. 15% Silfos is what I will always use.

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Melusi Ngcobo says:

Cool man nice tool you have Are you in Ottawa ?

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Guy Beavers says:

How did the roof jack magically get around that line set, damn you're good!

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars DJCompiler says:

ZoomLock Max are a real time saver. They should last a very long time.

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Antonio Villegas says:

    Good job. CONGRATS !!!!!

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Cundiss says:

Way back when I started on cars, in the early nineties I believe. They were getting rid of R12 and doing the R134. The number one illegal substance brought into the U.S.A. was drugs/cocaine. The number two illegal substance, at the time, was R12. I remember hoarding some one pounds cans myself.

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars OR OR says:

Never seen seal tight fittings for EMT conduit I, normally use threaded rigid when exposed with prefab 90's just to make it easier… nice work.

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Electrolux lad says:

I still don’t trust pro press I’m a plumber I like my torch

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jako1987 says:

Why you don't use those old style racks anymore? Too long fridgerant lines? Too hard to service?

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Scott Shepke says:

What a time to be alive.
Got a question though. Do you have any concerns using the zoom lock fittings with leaks in less than a year or two. Or is that why you have heavy emphasis on not screwing up the O-rings while de-burring

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars rondo122 says:

good video! learned a lot. keep up the good work

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars KARAORS says:

    👍+1

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Wiiyaas Iniini says:

I personally haven't used the zoomlock, but I have used pro press a bunch. I still personally prefer to solder an assembly on the work bench (when possible) and just throw in a coupling to tie it in. Most of my mistakes came from trying to keep a complex assembly from falling apart and then not noticing a fitting slipped off or turned after I already started pressing. That depth gauge is pretty sweet. The one we have is basically a laminated piece of paper. Makes it hard to mark the pipe, so most of the time I just use a fitting that has a stop instead.

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ronald Zeigler says:

Tool would work great in computer rooms.

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ronald Zeigler says:

    GREAT WORK

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ronald Zeigler says:

In Fla. you have to have electrician run electric code.I like that tool.

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeffrey Kubiak says:

    Nice installation Chris!

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Charlie G says:

How much are each fittings ?

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars TRSSR67 says:

Lots of nay sayers here. Has anybody taken the time to look at the Specs for the fittings? From Parker the svc life is 25 years with a 10 yr guarantee from the date of purchase. Working pressure is rated at 700psi, Burst pressure is 2100psi How long is the life span of the systems these are installed on. Will the system Chris installed them on last more than 25 years? Have you ever encountered a braze joint that has failed after it was completed? I guess time will tell if theyre a good product.
