In this video we're going to show how to charge a txv system using the sub cooling method, as you can see, we have 10 degrees of target. Sub cooling is what this outdoor data plate is, showing only we're going to show it using the job link probes from field piece, a quarter presser on the liquid line, as well as the measure quick app. So you can see we're attaching our probes on both the liquid and suction side. The liquid side is being connected onto a core depressor.
This just helps to reduce losses and gives us a little bit more control over that liquid line, because that's what tends to kind of give us a little blow back when we attach, by attaching our cord oppressor with the stem all the way out or counterclockwise, that Just prevents some of that blowback and then we connect both of our rapid rail temperature clamps. We then connect our tools using measure quick, and we can see our measurements here, both our suction line, liquid line temperature, as well as high side and low side pressure, and as we can see, our sub cooling is only 7.3, which is slightly below what we're. Looking for this is just going to show a very slight charge adjustment, so we're going to take our refrigerant tank, we're going to add a charge adapter to it. So that way we don't flood the compressor when we flip it upside down and charge it using vapor.
You're going to notice that in this hose assembly i use a ball valve as well as a charging t. There are different brands that work well, i tend to like yellow jacket hoses. So this end is a yellow jacket, end with a ball valve, and then this t is made by c and d, yellow jacket and others also make some nice charging tees with good seals in them and i'm going to attach that to the suction line. So that way we can add refrigerant to the system.
We are going to invert the tank onto the scale because we want to charge it in liquid phase and the charge. Adapter is what prevents us from flooding with liquid you're going to notice. We purge the air out before we allow any refrigerant to go into the system we shut off the valve. We put our probes back on, we zero out our scale and then we can add charge using our ball valve slowly, as we monitor our readings on the app now, you can see.
We've hit our target 10 sub cooling, so we've added refrigerant until we hit 10 degrees of sub cooling, which was our goal all in all. You need to let the system run for at least 15 minutes after you make charge adjustments to ensure that it settles in. This is just a sped up version of it. Once we get done, adding the proper amount of charge.
We just do everything in the reverse order. We disconnect. We turn our ball valve counterclockwise and everything goes back together. So that is how you charge a system via the sub cooling method at a small amount of refrigerant.
Here we showed r410a refrigerant on an air conditioner. It's very simple, very easy to use the job link, probes from field peace and the measure quick, app charging a system by subcool thanks for watching our video. at 1 19 or there about did you mean the tank upside down using vapor ? did you mean liquid ?
How is a system treated that has an R-410a "Flo-rater" metering system (Aspen DX-treme C-series) as far as charging the system, like a TXV or a fixed orifice ?
Another good video !!!! Service area Orleans??
I got my universal and took a basic HVAC course and was hired as a maint. tech that said they would train me but I've kind of been thrown to the wolves. In 8 days I've gone to 6 A/C calls. All have TXV's so with the R-22 and R-410 I know how to use subcooling to charge the unit if the charge is the problem using gauges but 2 of the units I worked on were converted to R438 and there is no line on the gauge for R438, just R-22 and R-410 and I can't figure the high pressure line temp???? Both times the best I could do was make sure the low side temp was above 32 degrees on the R-22 gauge line but I don't know if that is right. Can anyone help me??
Hi dear sir:you ment that we could add refrigrant as liquid to suction line?isnt it harmfull for compressor?
Nice video Bryan. Simple and easy to follow. Thanks for sharing.
I use the core remover tool with 90 deg anti blowback adapters when I charge on the liquid line with the fieldpiece probes exactly like it's shown in this video. And yes I use the yellow jacket hose with the ball valve on the end. So it looks like I have 2 ball valves. I purge the air this way. But I hate those depressors used in this video. I could never figure out why all of them leak like hell. They don't have good o rings? And besides that.. U can't charge with core depressesors. I think they're just a waste of space in your tool line up no offense. I subscribed and I learn from your videos on the daily. Thanks though. Are you in Ottawa ?
Jandy was here.
The biggest advantage I see to this method is NOT having to purge and backfill the lines from the manifold gauge set. Do you see this new wireless technology as โ the endโ to the manifold gauge set ???๐ค
Is it possible to list the tools used in this video in the description? I love your channel! You are improving my knowledge!! Much thanks!
Would you recommend the charging hose setup for R22 also?
TNX a million your videos are truly the best๐
Fantastic video!! Can you Please do a piston charge .. Iโm uncertain where to locate the psychrometers Service area Nepean??
Why is it needed to use a scale?
Awesome video, how much and where can I get this program for my laptop?? Any ideas y'all?
Can you do โBeer can coldโ charging method?
Thank you !
At electronic expansion valve how charging ?
I need this mobile app so plz what's this app name Are you in Barrhaven ?
Can you make video like that but with the SMAN480V.
Is it better to use MeasureQuick instead of JobLink?
Great video
Got a link to fittings
Did they at one time have dip tubes in some 410a cans ๐ค
