Hey guys, josh with griffin air and the new hvac guide, wanted to do a real, quick video on the topic of what we call heat rise, and all that means is when the air is going into the system and coming out of the system. What is that rise and temperature? You might be talking about the air being pulled into the return of say, a furnace and then coming out of one of your supply registers.

What is that temperature difference? What is our heat rise, and i just want you to be aware that, especially if you're switching systems, so if you currently have say an oil system, you have an old school oil burner furnace or boiler and you're going to switch to something else or whatever just Realize not all systems have the same heat rise now. Is that the end of the world? Not always we've had customers switch to just say a heat pump system or a straight electric system when they were burning gas before for one reason or another utility bills or whatever the reason is they want to do it, but then they put their hand over the Vent and they're like well, this isn't what i'm used to i'm used to. You know i'm used to hot air coming out, but now it's only lukewarm, i mean yeah. My house is keeping temperature and all that good stuff.

But you know i'm seeing a different heat rise. Is the verbiage right, i'm seeing i'm putting my hand over the vent, it's not as hot as it once was with my other system that was this or that just realize. Not all heating and air systems have the same heat rise, and that's something that you need to be aware of. If you have an oil furnace, an old-school oil furnace that burns oil, you might see temperature rise, 50 60 degrees, where it's going in that vent and coming out super hot.

If you have a single stage, 80 percent gas furnace, you might see a more of a 40 or 50 degree heat rise. If you have a condensing gas furnace, maybe a little less than that and then finally, if you have a heat pump system without the electric heat strips on, you might only see a 20 or 30 degree heat rise depending on other variables. Just keep that in mind.
