Hey guys before we get to the video, please click that subscribe button, hey guys, joshua griffin here serving the middle peninsula and the northern neck of virginia, and i want to do a little bit of a video, maybe like a secret or a tip that you know. Might help you it's something: i've picked up along the way, but before i get to the secret, if you will, i just want to say if you're in the market for a new heating and air system definitely check out my new website before you spend thousands, you Got to check out this website, it's called new hvac guide, dot com i'll put a link to it down in the notes, but so let's talk about a couple things before i share with you. What i would you know the tip or secret, and you know i basically, if you have any gas appliances in your home. So if you have a gas furnace gas, water heater, you know other gas appliances you're going to basically fall into one of two categories.

Typically, and one is, if you have natural gas, usually if you're in say a city somewhere that there's a utility provider and there's just a gas line that runs underground to your home, that would be you know one side, and so we're not going to talk about That side, because they're in a totally different animal altogether uh. But what i wanted to talk about is if you're, on the other side, if you're in more of a rural area like where i live, or you know somewhere that you just can't get natural gas chances are. If you have gas appliances in your home, then then you have propane and or oil. We have a few customers that still have oil.

To this day. You know so one or the other and they're supplied to your home. A truck big old truck will come to your house, and you know supply that gas or oil. To you.

First thing i want to say is i i'm sure there are companies out there that are great. I think it would be a small percentage of them, but what i mean by that is they're great in that you know: they're not going to nickel and dime you. They appreciate your business and they treat you as such, but i would say the majority of companies that do that sort of thing. It almost feels, like you know, sometimes when i go on a trip and i'm a tourist, and they just feels like they're, nickel and diming.

You constantly or another. One might be like you know: if you're getting a cell phone service or something and they're just nickel and diming, you left and right, they kind of remind me of that a little bit. I just want to first share a little story with you. A few years ago i was working at a house, and this was before i learned what i'm about to tell you.

So i was at this house and we were working on something totally separate from this gas leak that they were smelling in their house. They felt like they were smelling gas, and so you know they they mentioned it to me, and i you know i said man, you should call your gas supplier right away and this particular gas supplier. Again, they may all do things differently, but this particular one said something to the effect of well. We only supply it up to this point, so we you know we take care of the tank outside and and the supply coming up to the house, but everything after that we're not going to mess with that.
You know that you need to hire someone else or we're going to charge you. You know money to come out and fix this or that, and you know basically that you know i was there and and the homeowner basically said to him. Look. You know you're you're, my gas supplier, we spend we've, we've been with you a long time.

We've spent gobs of money, you know with you and if you don't take care of this, if you don't at least come out and look at it, uh, i'm gon na call we're gon na switch gas suppliers. I'm gon na take my business elsewhere, and so i learned through that process and and we've actually done it a few times since then had homeowners uh, you know, have a a small repair or a concern or something like that, and you know so they you know They go to their supplier and and they're, either nick they're either told they can't do it or that they nickel and dime. You constantly they're charging you all this money to supply the gas to you and then they're, making even more money. On these.

You know little nickel and diming projects, so that would be the tip if you will, if i could share a tip or a secret, i would say if you are in a position where you need a little bit of work done. Maybe you smell gas. Maybe you need to add a you know your grill. Maybe you know i've had customers, they want to add their outdoor grill.

Instead of having to have a little propane tank, they want a gas line, ran over to it and you know stuff like that. So a little project here there don't be afraid to play that card. You know to say to the gas supplier. Look.

If you want to keep me as a customer, then you need to handle this. I i you know, i'm not going to pay you for this. It's something as my gas supplier i feel like you should handle and you know you're going to have. Maybe you know if you watch this video and you apply this idea to something you're going to have a company.

You know here there that will say to you: i'm not we're still not going to do that for free. I think in some cases that's reasonable right. I mean as long as you're, reasonable and they're reasonable. It could be a great relationship, but sometimes uh.

You know if you have someone, that's just gon na stand their ground. I i don't know about your area. Maybe you live in even more rural area, but we've got options. We've got you know, you can call a few different places, a few different companies - and you know you could say to the new company hey.

I need this little bit of work done, i'm willing to move my business to you. If you, you know, take care of this, for me and you'll be surprised, a lot of companies if the if the old company, the company, you did have say no than the new company uh one one little caveat to all this. Just something to keep in mind is, if you don't own your tank, your options are limited a little bit. So if you own your own tank and everything, you know you, you have the right.
You have the option to shop and to find a better company and things like that. But if you don't, if they own the tank, then you're kind of uh, you know obligated a little bit to them that they may even have restrictions. Uh that you know might be a part of your contract so anyway uh you know if you're in our coverage area in gryffindor's coverage area, then you know we'd love to earn your business if you're, not in our coverage area. But you are looking to replace your heating and air system before you spend thousands check out my new website.

As i said before, new hvacguide.com we've put so much information on there there's stuff on there that contractors and manufacturers, don't even want you to know we're putting it on that website, and you know i've got a whole page. Even it's just called no nos just things to stay away from. We got a whole page for that so check that out and thank you for watching. Please subscribe.

You.

In our area (Southeast MO) it’s pretty normal that gas companies are in charge up to the entry of house and then hvac does in house. But I know things are different everywhere, like codes for example.

Not sure I agree with that. Kinda like someone saying you put this unit in you should replace capacitor for free! Which you shouldn’t. People want a gas line to that grill they paid for at Lowe’s, they can pay the gas company to run the line. They are in business to make money on everything they do or supply.

This is so important to be discussing at the moment. Great suggestions, I really enjoyed the video!
