Hey guys before we get to the video, please click that subscribe button, hey guys, joshua griffin here serving the middle peninsula and the northern neck of virginia, and we are now to the semi-finals of our tournament. Best hvac brand warranty out there. It's been kind of fun for me, so far a lot of the videos i do for you know folks trying to help them out. It's not really fun for me necessarily, but this has been kind of fun.
Just kind of checking out who's got the best warranty and you know doing a little tournament style to find out who our champion is going to be with the best hvac brand warranty out there. And so, if you haven't been keeping up, let's go through the ground rules, one more time, basically the ground. There goes one of my pups um. Basically, the rules are are like this.
We are only going by what is on their website for split uh systems, whether it be a furnace or air handler inside and whether it be a ac, condenser or heat pump unit outside, and so just a standard heat pump warranty and what is on their website. I know there's companies out there that offer, above and beyond what the manufacturer offers we're, not taking any of that into account we're only going by what's on their websites and what it is for. One of those split systems - not ductless units, not package units or anything like that. So that's the ground rules stay tuned, we're now to the semifinals.
Let me also say if you are in the market for a new heating and air system before you spend thousands check out my website newhvacguide.com, the link will be below okay, hey guys. We are now to our semifinals and we are to the second round of the semifinals. So if you take a look at our tournament here, it's been a uh, an interesting tournament. So far i got ta be honest.
I was a little surprised at some of these. These uh folks, some some folks, have been better. Some folks have been worse than i expected, and so it's been fun to kind of do this tournament style. You know, like a single elimination, reminds me of like march madness for college basketball.
I'm sure it's just as exciting for you, as it is march madness and basketball, but uh anyway. So let's go through this real quick again. We had in our first round carrier versus daikin with dyken, pulling it out going to the semifinals. Next we had linux and mitsubishi with linux, pulling out the win.
Next, we had nortec versus reem and reem, pulling out the easy victory and then finally, york and train with york pulling out the victory. So if you haven't seen those videos definitely go back and check those out. We just did this last video. We did our first round of the semifinals and daikin beat out linux to make it to the finals and, let's see who they're gon na go up against.
So this this episode again, we've got two two companies that had pretty easy matches. I guess in the first round they made it out of the first round pretty easily and so we're gon na compare the two now so we've got rheem and york shifting over here. Let's start with ream: first, i kind of kind of poked fun at the way these these registration forms look to me, and so, if you haven't seen that video go back and check but they're just kind of vintage. Looking with this border, i actually kind of like it, but so this is reams warranties. I just pulled up a couple here: i've got one for their higher end furnaces, and then this one over here is for their heat pumps and air conditioners. Well, this one's for a heat pump. You know if we just focus in here it looks like they've kind of put. You know they a lot of brands, each forms different so depending on which brand you have you know which model you select by that brand.
Your warranty forms will be geared towards that model, whereas this kind of looks like they put a whole bunch of different models on here. So they're saying you know, if you pick these models down here. Of course, my computer is acting crazy, all of a sudden, but if you pick up these models down here - or you know these models up here - that you're going to get different warranties depending on which model you select, so they kind of put them all in one Form, so that's interesting! So if we focus in here, we've got a 10-year parts warranty on some of the furnaces and then, as we scroll over some models come with a lifetime heat exchanger warranty on certain models. So you know that's pretty industry standard.
If you look down here, let's see it says, is covered on our apical warranty period of 20 years after the effective date. So you know you got to jump through some hoops and you got to go with certain models to get that higher end lifetime warranty on the heat exchanger we've seen a lot of brands. Do that sort of thing, as we come over to the heat pump side of things, if we focus in here again looks like they're covering several models here, and you know, some of those models looks like they come with a 10-year parts warranty on those models. If you're watching this - and you know something i don't know as far as what their warranties offer, then please let me know you know it actually almost looks like this is the same exact document.
It is it's the same document for that they give you for their heat pumps and their their furnaces there so um. I realized that when i scrolled over and looked at the heat exchanger so interesting, so they just kind of use. One form that kind of blankets all of their products, and they you know it's basically saying if you go with this model or that model. This is what your warranty is going to be.
Let's see conditional lifetime unit replacement warranty for models. I did not pick up on this in our first video, so as i'm reading through it, if an exact replacement is not available, an equivalent unit or credit will be provided to the original purchaser if the heat exchanger fails and if the following conditions are satisfied. So that's pretty cool unit replacement warranty. If that heat exchanger fails on these certain models. They're gon na you know, they're gon na actually give you a whole new unit um as long as it meets certain criteria. So that's interesting yeah. So that's ream and again, if you know something i don't know feel free to comment. Maybe there's you know more to it than that.
The interesting thing about york that we found is you know, as i scroll in here it looks like on certain models. They they have what they call their affinity series. You see up here, affinity series and they have you know: lifetime heat, exchanger, warranty on certain models, and you know certain models have less than that. You know depends on which model you go with same goes for their heat pumps and air conditioners.
But the thing that i want to point to here again industry standard as we're, seeing with lots of brands offering that 10-year parts warranty. But the thing that really jumps out at me about york is this one-year labor warranty. I can't think off the top of my head. Anyone else that offers that.
So if you were to have an issue in that first year, you know they're gon na they're gon na cover the labor as well. It looks like the manufacturer is gon na cover it. It's got a little star by it. If we come down to the star, it says: lifetime compressor and heat, exchanger, limited warranties, complete assurance, limited warranty, one-year labor, limited warranty and 10-year parts limited warranty require online registration, otherwise, warranties revert to this blah blah blah.
I thought maybe going down to where that star was. It would tell me a little more but basically they're just saying that you know it's going to come with a one-year labor warranty there and i guess you'll have to check with uh. You know if you've got a contractor, that's offering york check with them and and get the details on that. You know i don't install york, we don't even have a good supplier here that i know of we can get your parts easily, but to get their equipment and stuff is a little more of a challenge if we wanted to so anyway.
So hopefully you are looking at one of these brands that helps there but yeah. I just wanted to direct your attention to that, because that's kind of cool, not everybody, does that so getting back to our tournament, rheem vs york, i think we're gon na have to say again. York is gon na pull out the victory here because they're offering something that you know rheem's, not here and reim from what i can tell they're, not really offering much that york's. Not i mean maybe a little bit here and there, but i think york has got that definitive extra sauce.
If you will that they're, you know throwing in there with their warranties, so yeah, so york's gon na make it to the finals and we're gon na find out who is gon na be champion in our next video, the company, that's crown champion, will you know definitively Now do we don't have every single brand out there on this tournament? Obviously, but this is some of the top brands, it's the top manufacturers, so there are other brands but they're made by one of these companies in a lot of cases. So you know when we crown our champion in the next video, it's going to be a definitive, clear winner and you'll know who has the best warranty out there. Currently, you know during the making of this video things change, but during the making of this video whoever's crowned so we're going to have daikon versus york for the best warranty in the hvac residential industry for split systems.
