This was a service call on a walk in cooler that had a bad evaporator fan motor, I replaced the motor and also found that the rooftop equipment was very dirty. I cleaned all the rooftop equipment and the customer was happy!

Have a service call on a walk-in cooler today, the unit the complaint is is one of the evaporator fan motors is bad and the unit's partially. I stopped the customers currently moving product inside the unit, so that way I could get into the equipment. So I came up on the roof to check things out. I just went ahead and shut off the condensing unit.
That way the evaporator fans would start to de-ice it while I'm waiting for them, but take a look at these condensers. That looks like a problem. This is their walk-in freezer right here, let's pan on over to their ACS. You know this can't really walk away from this today, where I'll be back tomorrow, this kind of sucks, because you know I come here for a walking cooler, and this is going to turn into a six to seven, our quarrel cleaning.
Look at this crazy, crazy, restaurant refrigeration, so I actually don't even see any ice, so I don't know if there was or the customer was just mistaken, but the coil is dirty and it's really rotted out so just disintegrated, but we'll get it cleaned up. If that family changed been diagnosed, the rest of the system clean up all those condensers. When I'm running my hose, I like to be considered that a customer run it up against their counters, create a drip loop that way when it leaks out. It doesn't leak under the floors.
We're thinking about the customer keep making them popular insurance and remember, like I've, said in my past videos I'm gon na rinse, this coil we're always gon na pull the motors and blades out. Then we can get good access to it, rinse it as good as possible. Okay, I went ahead and changed both fan motors and both ways because they were in bad shape, cleaned it up as best as possible. The coils definitely rotted out much better.
Now we'll get up onto the roof clean the condenser and check out the operations up there. Okay, so it's about a hundred and two degrees ambient. I have not cleaned the condenser, yet I just want to check out the pressures got a clear sight, glass, it's kind of hard to see, but it's clear the box is about forty three forty five degrees. So I something's going on there with the TXV it looks like it might be hunting a little bit we're gon na watch it for a few minutes.
As far as our liquid line saturation temperature or our head pressure, you know we're within range. If we're going to use rules of thumb, let's step back first thing, you do is make sure your sight. Glass is clear sight. Glass is clear, then we're going to kind of use a rule of thumb and say our liquid saturation temperature should be anywhere from twenty to thirty degrees above ambient, depending on the efficiency of the condensing unit, we're within range there 100-something degrees outside.
We have 121 a good saturation temperature as far as our vapor saturation temperature and our back pressure, I mean it looks decent. The box is probably forty three forty four degrees right now, so that would be approximately a 10 degree TV because we're about 10 degrees under the Box temp on our vapor saturation temperature. So that falls within a row of phone, so boxes under a heavy load though, and the condensers still dirty. So I'm gon na clean it up, but it looks like we're gon na be okay. Okay got the condensers cleaned up. I'm gon na go and straighten out the fins they're, not horrible, but we'll get it cleaned up so that way they get a little better airflow on all three of these, the one we're working on is the middle walkin, but we're taking care of everything else. While we're here, okay straightening the fins I mean, you know it only does so much. This potentials are pretty beat up, but they're half-ass, decent, clean them off one more time.
So that's good we're just gon na watch that walking come down to temp and then we're good.
What causes coils to rot out like that?
i am not saying that by watching your vids that you can become a HVACR service tech, but damn i know a LOT more than i did before i watched. THANKS
A video on how you straighten fins would be nice.
Is there some trick way to straighten fins or a screwdriver and lots of time?
Must be dust storms
Drip loop, neat and tidy hose…cleaning the other condensers because you're there……straightening fins…extra mile…this is the way I would be doing things if i were in the biz…good video as always.
Good job those coils were pretty nasty Service area Barrhaven??
Good work Sensai!!!! They were lucky to find your service!! Was money well spent!! Thanks for sharing your videos!! They are inspiring!
Awsome
Looks like this customer needs a maintenance plan. Do you use the videos to show the customer your findings? I feel that it would be easier than verbally explaining everything to them as long as you don’t call them any names when recording 😄 Service area Ottawa??
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
What type of thermometer is that your using? Also what have you found works best for condenser fin straightening? Nothing like a bar unit missing cover kicked 8 times a day.
What a mess good job taking care of all the other units 👍👍
Nice vid n tips shared thanks again ,whats your preferred brush for the pkg units when u washing them, i use long handle gong brush to get at the back half of the condenser like those lennox n york type ,how about you ? Beside power washing
Very thorough job. Great work!
Have you ever used 409a is place of r12? They say its the best drop in replacement?
👍👍
What the hell is up with the drain line??? Lol Looks like it was put in by a roll-a-coaster engineer!!
Great job!!! Are you in Nepean ?
Looks like you're doing the same thing I'm doing today. Running your butt off dealing with things that aren't maintained. How do you get your videos edited so quickly are you doing them on your phone? You do good work!
