This was a Friday night service call on a walk in freezer not working, I got them up and running and will return with some new condenser fan motors.

So this is a Friday night service call on a walk-in freezer. The complaint is, is that it's in the forties doesn't feel like it's in the 40s to me right now, it's pretty cold, but it's definitely a little high. They definitely have soft ice cream, but yeah. The strawberries are a little bit soft right there, so we will see now it looks like it's about 18 degrees.
Right now doesn't seem to be any ice on the coil at this time. So I'm up here on the roof. This is our walk-in freezer. Condenser got back an answer: Pam butter, I'm gon na - get that wrapped up right now I got one in my truck we'll get that changed out and we'll check the rest of the unit out.
So I did check the temperature inside the walk-in freezer and it was about 18 degrees and it was set for like negative 12. So that's good. The other thing I noticed this looks like oil yeah. So this is a produce, cooler and there's some oil on this port right here.
So definitely look into that too, since we're here ten o'clock at night, almost 98 degrees outside got ta love Palm Springs anyways. I got me a cadets family right here. What is this? A 97 21 universal motor. These things are badass, they get you through the pinch.
If you don't already know these heat craft motors from the factory is not a standard motor, it's actually a bigger motor. So unless you get the factory motor, the 97 21 is almost the only thing. That's gon na work. They run a bigger fan blade than normal.
It's like a 14-inch fan blade and normally they're like 12. So if you just throw on you know a normal truck stock, I can't think of a part number right now, but a normal truck stock, a niche fan loader it ain't gon na fly it I'll end up over amping and burning up. So you either go with the fasco OAM motor from heat craft or you get the 97 21 and that'll get you through the all right. We're up and running crushers are looking pretty good.
It's a really high load right now. I'm still not super satisfied with these motors, even the 97 21 I'm gon na do some research. We might end up changing just putting the factory motors back in, but this will get them through because these things are getting hot, we're gon na, monitor and see. So that was a service call on a walk-in freezer, not working.
When I got there, one of the condenser fan motors was down, so the unit must have been shutting off on high head pressure and it hit our degree set by the time I had gotten there. It was about a hundred just under a hundred degrees outside at ten o'clock at night, so I could only have all I actually know, because I was out here earlier. It was much hotter than that. I put a fan motor in there.
I put a 97 21, but it's still running on the higher side of the ham, so I thought that motor would get it lock or what would work, but it's still running a little high on amps, so I'm gon na get it go ahead and order. The heat craft factory motor and come back out and we'll replace both the condenser fan motors on this guy and put the factory heat craft motors back in other than that. This should get apply through the weekend. They'll be fine and yeah, we'll see on the next one. .
Great vids ty
98ºF in the night, holly shit!
I installed a transformer and later found the relay coil was shorted, this caused the 24vac to drop to 5vac. I thought I was having a bad transformer. Like you say think it through and check everything.
Was a rough one Friday. Was doing a compressor job Friday night in La Habra at 930 at night was still 101 on the roof
18 degree box temp is not a really high load…
Almost 300 PSI discharge pressure? Did you even wash the condensing coil???
I bet that condenser coil could use a good hosing judging by all that dust! With 100° you need that coil as clean as you can get it
The 9721 motors run low power and lower RPM worthless motors
P.S. Welcome back to the heat!!! Me phone app says it hit 119 degrees in Palm Springs Friday!!!! ~ Stay cool Brother!
You are the man Chris. Great job.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great videos.
Really enjoying your channel.
Gotta love that fog! What day was this? It's getting gnarly hot out here in Onterrible! Are you in Orleans ?
👍👍
They don't last, will need factory motor.

Those motors like you said are the s**t. Use them all the time. What’s up with that drain? Noticed it had a extra 90’s. Lol.
Yes the ol ‘ 9721. I use them all the time to get out of a bind. Idk if it’s just me but for some reason especially when used as condenser motors they always look like they spin a bit too slow . Service area Barrhaven??
Awesome info. sir 👍🏼🤙🏼 keep'em rolling
take easyones anytime good break for you , do you always wear long sleeve shirts dont you feel hot and sweatier soaked out how do you feel in it all day in the hot days ?
You wear two shirts in 100 degree weather?!
Both OEM and universal motors have a 40C rating. . OEM motors are typically sleeve bearings and have bearing failures. Universals are typically ball bearings . In my opinion a motor that has a 104 degree rating is not enough for desert climates where temperatures inside a condensing unit can be over 140 degrees . Those motors run hot and will have a shortened life due to premature insulation breakdown.
Good job! Are you in Ottawa ?
great video, really hot there in palm springs Service area Kanata??
