On this episode, we're going to talk about that nasty, mold and mildew smell you get from your hot tub cover. How does it happen? How do you prevent it and how do you get rid of it? Does your hot tub cover stink, oh god? Well, it's probably from mold and mildew buildup, which is pretty common on a hot tub cover, and there are a few reasons this happens. Number one is that your hot tub cover may be beat up, damaged, broken and all of that damage allows the steam and the rain from outside to get inside the hot tub cover and create all that mold and mildew number two. It could be that you don't remove it off your hot tub, regularly.

Just take it off the hot tub once in a while number three, you might have a cheap, ass, hot tub cover, and you know who you are number four. Your hot tub cover is just dirty. You got ta clean it from all that outside elements, all the leaves and all the droppings. If it's inside, you probably won't have this problem and number five is that you might just have poor water chemistry and that poor water chemistry, harbors bacteria, it turns into steam, and then it rises up into the hot tub cover.

So how do you get rid of this stinky smell? I have three ways. Number one make sure your hot tub water is balanced and sanitized make sure you test it every few days and the ph is between 7.4 and 7.6. The alkalinity is between 80 and 120 parts per million, and your sanitizer level is good number two. You can remove and clean your hot tub cover with a mild soap solution and a soft sponge, and i recommend using a quarter teaspoon of dish, soap to a half gallon of water and just wipe it down.

And then, after that, rinse it and then let it dry for a few hours before you put it back on the hot tub and then number three just replace it. Sometimes, when the cover gets too heavy, it stinks too bad and it's damaged and it's beat up. You just have to throw it out and replace it this time, just don't be a cheap, ass bonus tip. Today's bonus tip is brought to you by the hot tub handbook, which is a downloadable illustrated guide that i created to teach you everything.

You need to know about hot tub maintenance and you can get your copy at swimuniversity.com, hot tub. And if you enter the promo code, video, you will get five bucks off now. Today's bonus tip is similar to last week's bonus, tip uh, which is when you take the cover off your hot tub, and you clean it and you rinse it and you let it dry. You should use a hot tub cover protectant and my personal recommendation is using 303 aerospace protectant.

I am not endorsed by them. It's just that good. You can also go to swimuniversity.com and, if you're on youtube, please hit the subscribe button so that you can get a new video every single week. That's it guys thanks again and happy soaking, you.
