Hey guys welcome back to the channel wanted to do a video, because i think for years there has been this constant, either or, and what i mean about that is for the longest time we had central hvac systems in america with duct work, and it could be A furnace or an air handler and that might determine whether it burns gas or uses electricity and all that stuff and then the other side of that coin would be if you just had one room like a bonus room above your garage or just a an office. All by itself, maybe a she shed out in the backyard whatever and you can install a ductless, wallhong mini split and then, as time went on that side of the coin started growing right. So now, instead of just having wall hung mini splits. Now we have floor.

Mount models, so, if you don't want something hanging on your wall, you got something a little more cosmetically pleasing, just like baseboard heat or radiators back in the day. Just something on the floor like that and in addition to that they've now come out with all kinds of mini split inverter driven products. They've got what we call little pancake air handlers. They've come out with regular air handlers that blow through duct work, but they can still hook up to one of those mini split type: split systems, multi-zone systems, they've come up with these recessed type systems.

I see a lot of those in hotels where there's very little. Duct work they'll mount that unit right up against the wall, so it blows out into the room, but then they'll have below that the return. So it's like basically an in and out right there, but it's recessed in the ceiling or wall they've come out with ceiling. Cassette units they've come out with all kinds of stuff with all that said, instead of having two sides of that coin, we've now seen it kind of mold together we're seeing now systems that can do both, and i wanted to talk about one of those systems, because, If you're not familiar with the vrv life system by daikin and if you're not familiar daikon, it's one of the biggest companies in the world and the usa, now they own the goodman and amana product lines.

But daikon itself has always been more of an inverter mini split side of the coin, and now they do a lot of things. They actually have a commercial line. They make big units, they make residential systems, they make they make all kinds of stuff, and so because of what i was describing this whole. Combining of the two sides of the coin that i was describing now.

You've got the vrv life system that can do all kinds of things that a lot of systems on the market can't, and so let's go through that. If you're not familiar with the vrv life line, it is a side discharge unit on the outside, drawing very little electricity at times, and it has the fan that blows out the front like you would see, with a lot of mini split systems and now you're, starting To see those even come out with conventional systems, so you're going to have side discharge, that's what we call them side discharge units. It should probably be called front discharge, because in a lot of cases it blows out the front depending on how you set the unit. Really so what's the big deal with the vrv life, so the vrv life, because of that combination of what i was talking about before it can now do all of those things that i was describing.

So it can do the wall hung and floor mounts and all the mini splits pancake air handles all those things, and now it can be combined with a furnace, and so you can have a regular gas furnace in your home. Daikin gas furnace blows through the ductwork. Just like what you've always been used to, but it can be paired with this outdoor unit, creating a dual fuel system where, in some cases, that vrv life system, drawing very little electricity can still blow warm air providing heat through that same system with the coil mounted. On top of that furnace at lower temperatures than ever before, and then it'll have the capability if it gets below a certain temperature outside to then switch to the gas furnace and heat your home, like that.

So let's go through this. The vrv life line reinventing residential air conditioning by breaking technological barriers. Daikon vrv life systems bring inverter-driven vrv technology to solve some of the age-old residential hvac challenges; precision engineered for flexibility, zoning, low sound and space saving, with the ability to mix and match ducted and duct-free indoor units in combination with a gas furnace. I tell you this thing, checks so many boxes because, for example, yes, you can do multi-zone systems who yeah you only have one outdoor unit instead of having multiple outdoor units being able to provide heat and ac to all these different zones. Now you just got one and it does it all and that's the real appeal for a lot of these folks. So if you have a home that you have multiple zones, you know you got this room that you spend a lot of time in and you want heat and cool in that room. But then maybe this zone or area of your home, you don't necessarily need the same amount of heat and cooling, and so there's energy savings there.

But getting back to that scenario, where there's other parts of the home that it might have been more of a challenge in the past to provide heat and ac to those parts of the home say like a garage right. So if you have a garage, it cannot be connected by code to the conventional ducted air conditioning systems because of carbon monoxide and all those sorts of things. Well now you just come off of that vrv life outdoor unit and then go to that wall hung mini split or whatever you provide for just the garage alone. So i think that's the main thing to focus on here.

If you're looking at the vrv lifeline, it also can operate at low ambient temperatures, and things like that. We're going to get into more of that. So zoning is an important factor that contributes to energy savings and comfort. Standard central ducted systems do not have the ability to precisely adapt your lifestyle and how you use your home.

In most cases, larger homes can be separated into two zones, each zone being served by a separate system. So i've done other videos on zoned ducted systems and when it makes sense and when you probably shouldn't do it when you might be choking air, you know to that system and things like that, whereas the vrv life has the ability to just create a whole separate Zone entirely right, daikon vrv life systems provide effective zoning solutions by offering the flexibility to connect to up to nine zones to a single system. Precision engineered refrigerant control allows system operation to meet the needs of individual zones. Operational efficiencies, drv life systems are engineered with daikin inverter and variable refrigerant temperature technologies.

These empower the compressor to operate at its optimal efficiencies during part load operations and thereby reducing power of consumption and providing high operational efficiencies. So here's what that's basically saying so, if you only have say one zone calling, unlike with old, conventional ducted, zoned systems where that system is going to come on and blow all this air and still draw the same amount of electricity and all that stuff. This vrv life system can ramp down right, so you can ramp up ramp down and at times just barely be running, barely be running, but instead of the old dead band technology that i've talked about in some of my old videos. What's dead band? Well, it's basically when you set a temperature on a thermostat, it's going to heat up above that thermostat and then turn off and then it'll fall back down.

There's a temperature range there, it'll fall back down and turn back on, and so inverter systems instead create maximum comfort that it will stay pretty much at that same temperature and be barely running at times. If it's a mild day outside it'll, just barely run and still keep your house very comfortable, another highlight is just like any other mini split type side discharge, inverter systems, the dyke and vrv life systems are globally renowned for their quietness, with operating sound pressure levels as Low as 57 decibels, that is just super quiet, even compared to a lot of other inverter systems and then finally, let's talk about space, because i already talked about how you don't need to have multiple outdoor units, but the vrv life. Just like a lot of other side discharge units can be hung on a wall. It doesn't require the same clearances that a lot of the trash can style units that blow the air out, the top that they need all this clearance.

The vrv life systems doesn't require as much clearance with a compact, lightweight and space-saving design of only 37 inches wide 12 and 5 8 inches deep vrv life systems provide up to 75 percent reduction in installation space compared to similar capacity top discharge unitary condensing units. At the core of the vrv life systems is a built-in intelligence that gives you the independent zoning control, with maximum flexibility and energy savings, with the ability to connect up to nine indoor units and one outdoor unit. The space saving vrv life system is ideal for most residential projects. The crazy thing about this system is it can pretty much do just about anything that any other system on the market can do.

There are exceptions to that i know, but for the most part, there's not a lot of setups. There's not a lot of systems out there, technology that this system can't offer you another thing with the vrv life that is different from a lot of other zoned multi-zone outdoor units that you can connect a lot of indoor units to is the vrv life can operate With just one, and so that's kind of unheard of as well a lot of other ductless zoned systems, if it's multi-zone, you know, if you got four zones, four sets of line sets coming off of there and going to indoor units. The vrv life only needs one zone and it can still work a lot of those others at least need two for their technology to operate correctly. The rv life systems features flexibility with mix match of ducted and duct-free indoor units reduced power; consumption with flexibility to turn off indoor units, not in use dual fuel heating, with heat pump and gas heat simultaneously.

Gas saving with ability to connect to gas furnaces to one outdoor unit, quiet operation with sound levels under 58 decibels, choice of gas or heat pump, heat custom, selectable and programmable temperature to switch from heat pump to gas heat and finally add or remove zones without having To worry about ductwork, with the dual fuel heating, flexibility to switch between gas or heat pump, heating at various temperatures, expanded range of heating capabilities, with pump heat down to negative four degrees. So that's still really good. I know there's other systems on the market that can go a little lower than that, but again with all the other capabilities that the vrv life offers. That's just pretty awesome built-in, auto changeover between the heat pump and gas heat and continuous gas furnace heating during defrost avoids cold drafts.

I'll put a link down into the description. If you are curious more about it and you're looking into it, but i think ultimately the moral of the story is, if you're looking for a really efficient system that is still going to offer all the highlights that a lot of other inverter driven systems offer. But it can also replace multiple systems. It can be paired with a gas furnace which is pretty uncommon in our industry.

I'm actually not aware of any other system. That does that i, but i'm not saying it, doesn't exist, i'm just not aware of one, and so the vrv life is just pretty awesome. We've put several in and only heard good things back. I had one customer that he just wanted the cat's meow, and so he did it with just the wall hung units and he has a bunch of those in his house, but we have paired them with other systems with they had all kinds of different mix.

Match systems, i would say the only exception to all of that is there is still capacity you know to be concerned about so. In other words, if you need more than five tons of heating or cooling in your home, then obviously yes, you are going to have to maybe have more than one outdoor unit, but other than that i mean this thing can do again just about anything that other Systems can so, if you're in the market, for a heating and air system and you're in griffin, airs coverage area in virginia in the northern neck or mental peninsula.
