Older GFCI recepticals and Refrigeration equipment don't mix well... this particular restaurant has so many problems with their equipment tripping the GFCI recepticals and or GFCI breakers. It sucks because I'm not capable of just resetting a GFCI and leaving I always go thru the equip to verify nothing else is wrong.... I understand the need for GFCI circuits but with the inrush current we get on compressors the nuisance trips are insane.....

I've had the worst luck with these gfci, receptacles and or gfci breakers tripping. These freezers, the compressors in rush just, doesn't work well with the gfci. It's so annoying.

They almost need to get higher rated GFCI outlets if such things exist. A basic GFCI seems insufficient in these circumstances. It’s like us at work. We do have GFCI outlets per code compliance but if you were to check under our registers, oh the nightmare of wiring you would find. Each register runs on its own dedicated power and I can’t even begin to imagine how much power those things pull.

Easy. Buy a good brand one for the board, not those sockets.

Almost all HVAC equipment is not supposed to be on a GFCI or Arc Fault circuit. That is why larger equipment in Kitchens are supposed to be on a dedicated circuit which the NEC says doesn't have to be on those type of circuits. Its the cheaper owners that don't want to upgrade the Electrical service to appliances that the electrician puts in these circuit protectors as per Code.

And the new 2021 electrical code as it gets implemented are even going to require them on residential 240 air-conditioning units, garbage disposals, absolutely everything in the entire restaurant or house are going to be GFI or arc fault or a combination of the two the future is here and it’s coming fast
