Hey guys, one question i get all the time is about our labor warranties and a lot of folks want to know how that works, and so i want to do a video telling you how it works. We use a third-party company for our warranties. I have heard that in some states that it is illegal for the contractor to advertise some extended labor warranty unless it is through a third-party company, but whether you are or are not in one of those states. I thought this could help and so for clarity, we're not talking about a home warranty company or one of those things that are just a nightmare.

We're talking about a legitimate warranty company that if you have a problem with your heating and air system, they will cover the labor and materials. In most cases they won't cover the refrigerant, but that's nothing new, so whether you knew it or not. In a lot of cases, heating and air warranties do not cover the refrigerant. So if you, even if you have a system that say you know, the compressor goes out, you know, then it's seven years old and the compressor is under warranty and you do have an extended labor warranty that usually does not cover the refrigerant.

There are plans out there that they will, but they do cost a little more. So real, quick uh, some of the companies i'm talking about. I'm sure there are companies out there. I don't know about, but companies like jb associates there's a new one that i've heard of called trinity, there's aig and then a lot of the big manufacturers have labor warranties through them themselves.

I just want to point out a couple things. So the first thing is a lot of these warranties have to be bought by the contractor themselves. So if you have a contractor and you're wanting an extended labor, warranty and they're not willing to provide that to you, you can switch contractors and in some cases, still get that warranty. So obviously i can't speak about the companies that i don't know about, but i can tell you that say with jb associates that if another company installs a heating and air system - and they want an extended labor warranty and that company is just not willing to provide That to them as long as the system's less than two years old, they can have the labor warranty purchased through us and we can still warranty that for them.

So again, if it's less than two years old, you know, even if you didn't get registered right away, you know you still have that window of time that you can still make it right that you can get back on there and purchase that extended. Labor warranty. One thing i do want to point out, though, is whoever you purchase that through typically, you have to get everything done by them as well. So you have to get your maintenance done by that company.

You have to get repairs done by that company, so in other words, if someone came to us and they purchased a labor warranty through us, but then they want to go back to that company that wouldn't even provide it to them. They actually would not be able to do that. Our warranty company is going to say, look, no, you need to call josh, you need to call the you know, griffin, air, the company that you bought the warranty through, so they can honor that warranty properly. But the last thing i'll say is: if you don't have an extended labor warranty and you have a newer heating and air system, i would highly recommend getting one because we've all heard those horror stories.

I remember there were some roofing companies years ago running around our area and they would offer a lifetime warranty. You buy a roof from us and we'll give you a lifetime warranty, and so they were, you know, putting all these roofs on and then when they started leaking a couple years later, the company was out of business and the homeowner was, you know. Out of luck. The warranties were not through that third-party corporate type company that could take care of that homeowner properly.

In retrospect, if you were to buy one of these labor warranties and your contractor go out of business, they'll still cover it now. They're going to have to you know, find a contractor that will take care of you, but you're still covered. I think that's great, and the other thing is if it's through the manufacturer, in a lot of cases, you're going to get another. You know company that they have as a licensed dealer uh.

You know they're certified to install their equipment and they'll honor those warranties through that so anyway. I hope that helps thanks for watching hit that subscribe button. We'll see you next time.
