The first thing I believe every heating and air system should have is a UV light, an air cleaner UV light and I'm talking about just a regular old bulb.
Every hvac system should have one of these!

I’d argue and say surge protection is more important for protecting the T stat, motor modules,control boards,capacitors etc. The uv light is nice and does work but not everyone has bacteria in the air handler or on the coil and if there is no form of good filtration or ventilation and humidity control id much rather get them setup with a whole home ventilating dehumidifier and a 5 inch pleated filter or adjust airflow settings and ESP for a higher merv filter. Just my 2 cents
I did residential for a very short stint (hated it). The techs were more sales oriented than technicians. Everything was .. “you should upgrade your thermostat” “you need an ozone filter” or “you need to replace your unit” just because it was old…
