Hey Pool Owners: do you need to close your pool but it's still warm outside? algae is more likely to grow in warmer temperatures, but you can take a few extra steps to prevent it from blooming under your cover. A few days before closing your pool, brush, vacuum, and shock your water. Then right before adding the cover, add some liquid chlorine and algaecide for your water. Just be sure to add these chemicals one at a time, then cover it up.

Finally, if possible, lift the cover to check your water chemistry whenever temperatures rise above 60 degrees. Fahrenheit Follow us at swim! University for more pool care tips throughout the year.

After testing, numbers are perfect but there is Algea and the water I d still light green app says do not add more chlorine. What to do so I can still swim?

As a 30 year veteran, I strongly advise NOT to add algaecide and clorine at same time, they will cancel each other. Instead shock first, wait 24 hours then algaecide or vice versa, never together

Itโ€™s still 85ยฐF in central Florida so Iโ€™ll keep swimming for a few more months. Service area Orleans??

I have been battling algae all summer it seems or probably started halfway through, I have an above ground round 18โ€™ x 52. My neighbor has an inground pool and he claims itโ€™s the trees causing the algae. Is this true. I donโ€™t have trees close to the pool, but there are trees on the hill up above it, and I do get sun on it.

I have a cover and I only used it once. It is easier for me to maintain the pool year round then have to deal with opening and closing the pool.

Why liquid chlorine and not tablets? Why add separately to algicide and how long apart should they be added. Thank you.
