The fact that cal hypo is unstabilized is intentional and in no way a problem. Unstabilized oxidizer is more available and more potent. And the pool has sufficient stabilizer to protect the excess. You still should shock at night but not for the reason stated in this video. It’s not always practical but that’s also the next time to add liquid chlorine — it lasts longer at night just because no UV rays from sunlight

Shocking is only intended to boost chlorine levels for a short time.
Algae photosynthesizes in sunlight. You want to hit it when its metabolism is highest, daylight hours.
As many things go in pool care, varying opinions are common.
