Hey Pool Owners: if you've got algae in your pool, you need to add chlorine shock to your water. ASAP But how much shock you need depends on the color of the algae. A normal dose of chlorine shock is usually one pound per 10 000 gallons of water. If you have light green algae, you'll need to add a double dose of shock.

If you have dark green algae, you add a triple dose of chalk. And if you have black green algae, you'll need to add a quadruple dose. Follow us at swim! University for more pool care tips throughout the year.
