Hey, Pool Owners: Did you know that it only takes 17 minutes of sunlight to destroy half of your pool's chlorine? That's because chlorine breaks down under the Sun's UV rays. But stabilized fluorine like chlorine tablets or granules doesn't break down because it contains cyanaric acid. AKA Cya Think of it like sunscreen for your chlorine. Liquid chlorine and bleach don't contain Cya and are unstabilized.

I had to take my pucks out after a year because my CYA levels got up to 150 ppm. Chlorine doesn't work well with that much CYA.

I'm confused. So if CYA never leaves the pool (unless you drain it) once my pool reaches the recommended CYA level I stop adding tablets and just use Cal Hypo after that?
50 minimum. Especially in FL
In Florida, most pools won’t hold chlorine at 50 cya i keep mine at 80 Service area Ottawa??
What would cause your CYA levels to drop?
When CYA levels get too high, only fix is to empty the pool. Kinda hurts when you have 40k gallon pool
Or you can always always add at night time.
