Table Owners Here's how to backwash your sand filter in two minutes. First shut off your filter, then attach the backwash hose to your filter's waste or backwash. Port Turn your multi-port valve to backwash, then turn your system back on. Water should be flowing out of the backwash port and through the hose.

Let the water run for 30 to 60 seconds or until the water runs clear. Check the clarity coming out of the end of your backwash hose or check your filter sight glass. Turn the filter system off and turn the multi-port valve to rinse. Turn the filter system back on and rinse the filter for about 30 seconds.
