As a fire dept LT, I had a call to a gas leak at a residential house. I got there after the engine and took charge. I did not see a gas meter on the house.
What I did find was a homeowner swearing that his electric water heater was leaking gas!
The actual cause was a dry utility sink in the laundry room. Sewer gas was backing up. I put some mineral oil in the trap along with some water to stop it. Water will evaporate, but the oil will not.
Keep up the video content good job.
Turn off the main gas at the meter then confirm its the HVAC and then turn off the gas valve at the HVAC, After that, you might be able to turn on the main gas until repairs are done.
Gas leaks are no joke, but lets not fear monger people into thinking gas leaks are the only thing that causes that smell. Needs to be more context behind this to get the proper message across
