Hey guys before we get to the video, please click that subscribe button, hey guys, joshua griffin, air serving the middle peninsula and the northern neck of virginia and wanted to do a video kind of cool kind of different from anything i've done before, because there are all Kinds of different websites - different tom dicker harry's - that's what i call them that put out. You know what is the best hvac brand and usually it's just somebody telling you their opinion on what the best brand is for your home and i've said it before. I don't think there's any one brand, that's the best in every market, but i wanted to do something different, something that you know we could actually compare each brand with something tangible. I think there's a few different things we can do this with and we probably will but starting out what is one thing that we can compare apples to apples on if we're looking at this brand or this brand, which one is better okay.
So here's what i came up with, i think for this tournament, we're going to do a tournament single elimination. I have my own biases, just like those tom dicker harry's that put their websites out and what they think is best, but we're going to take all that out of it we're going to try to keep it fair. I put them in alphabetical order, so nobody's getting any special treatment and we're going to just put them head to head we're going to go through each brand and go through which one has the best warranty out there. I'm not saying that whatever, but the brand comes out in the end, the best is the best for your home, but we're gon na know by the end of this tournament, who has the best warranty of all the hvac brands so stay tuned.
So, let's lay some ground rules for our tournament and just to keep this fair across the board, because every time i do a video like this, some journeyman heating and air guy gets on here comments and says this is the way it is in my company and Blah blah blah blah blah, so if you're, one of those guys shout out to you just to keep this fair across the board, i want to lay a couple ground rules. Rule number one we're only going to be comparing the manufacturer's warranty with that product stock warranty. If you want to call it that registered right out of the box, we're not going to talk about extended, warranties, labor, warranties, extra warranties, you're, something your company adds in there. None of that matters for this tournament we're only going to compare what their websites so so again, if you're one of those guys that thinks you know everything before you go in and comment, i'm only talking about what says on their website.
So if you tell me, oh well, it ain't that way at my company this brand actually offers this warranty. I don't care we're only going to use what's on their websites what they're actually advertising that is their warranty and and black and white right there in writing. So that's rule number one rule number two just to keep it simple, so we could just compare apples to apples. We're gon na be comparing split systems with an indoor and an outdoor unit, and the indoor unit is a ducted unit. So we're not talking about ductless mini splits or package units or any of that extra stuff, so just to keep it real simple: it's either going to be a furnace or air handler inside or it's going to be an ac condenser or heat pump outside. So we're just going to keep it real, simple. That's the rules, let's get to the tournament. Let me also say if you are in the market for a new heating and air system before you spend thousands check out my website newhvacguide.com, the link will be below hey guys, welcome to round four of our tournament.
Hopefully, you can see me uh, okay, here, i'm actually working remotely here and wanted to get through this next round. It should be a pretty popular round. It's probably two of our more famous brands, if you will - and so, if looking at our tournament here round four we're down here with the train versus york. So i know there's some guys out there that sell these brands that are rabid that are very sold out to the brand that they install.
So shout out to you guys, if you're watching this - hopefully um, hopefully you're not mad after this video, because i know some of these folks take this very seriously. If you say anything bad about the brand that they sell and install, they get crazy. So we're gon na go through. Who has the better warranty here and so like say in round one we had carrier and daikin two we had linux and mitsubishi round.
Three was nortek and rheem and of course, now we're to round four here so train versus york and so we're gon na start out with train. I i tell you they actually made it a little difficult. It's not as easy as some of the other brands to find it on their website. Most of the other brands.
Pretty much are you know they they advertise it and they're right out there in the opening, with it um the place that i finally found it where it was just. You know as plain as day in black and white, is i printed out one of their product brochures actually printed? Two of them here got the pdfs, so we've got the furnaces. This is their s-series furnaces. Also, it looks like the regular furnaces in this brochure, and so i found it down here and then and this one we found it right here.
So let's talk about the furnace first, it says all terrain xc95 and s-series, condensing furnace families have a lifetime warranty on the heat exchanger and a 10-year limited warranty on internal functional parts, residential use. Only again, we've seen with some of the other brands we're seeing a limited lifetime warranty on the heat exchangers and then this 10-year parts warranty on their other components of that furnace. Moving over to the condensing units and heat pumps looks like we've got a 10-year warranty if registered. You know, that's a biggie with a lot of these brands. If it's not registered, you won't get that 10-year warranty on the parts and then below that looks like they've got a 12-year warranty on the compressor. So that's uh, that's actually a little better than some of the other brands that 12-year for some of these systems. So pretty cool moving over to york they've actually got a page where they just spell it all out so kudos to them, and so they've got the 10-year parts. Limited warranty.
Uh looks like you know, we're again we're only focusing on residential split systems. So we're not worried about three-phase here lifetime compressor, limited warranty on these affinity systems. I think affinity is their premium series if you will line up coming down to their furnaces, looks like lifetime warranty, heat exchanger, 10-year parts limited warranty, so it looks like just at first. Just first looking at this that lifetime compressor limited warranty, that's uh, that's a little different, that's a little above and beyond some of these other brands, and i want to direct your attention right below that.
It says one year limited warranty for the labor and it says that under several of these, the lx series package units affinity series furnaces one year, labor warranty right there and that's pretty uh, that's pretty above and beyond. For sure. I actually did not know that they did that until i started working on this tournament and i think that's pretty cool, and i think i know again, i know there's going to be some of you that are going to be a little upset, because you know everybody Likes what they like, but i think that we're going to have to actually give the win here in round number four to york. So congratulations to them! When I bought my mobile home it came with a coleman never lived anywhere with central air I did not even know I had a warranty the starter switch went out after about two years firs ants got in it 28 years later never happened again so I kept the switch thinking I'll do it myself next time I enjoy the videos very informative. Are you in Barrhaven ?
I'm in the market for a new heat pump. Two quotes have come in. $4900 for a York 2.5 ton 14 seer. Second company wants $5300 for the comparable Trane.
Just found out that starting Jan 2021, American standard units manufactured after that will have a 10 year warranty out of the box. Bosch already does that too
