Hopefully, if you're watching this, maybe you're in the market for a new heat pump, more air conditioner - and maybe you have some questions - you're doing some research and looking around maybe on the internet and hopefully we can earn your business either way. I just had a few tips, some things to watch out for and things to hopefully help you make a good decision.

So what is a heat pump? All the heat pump is. Is it air conditioner that can run backwards in the winter time to give you heat? Next, there's different types of heat pumps, different brands, different ratings, I'm not going to talk about brands. Today I found heating and air is kind of like cars. If you like, Ford or Chevrolet or fill in blank, I'm not going to try to change your opinion on which is a better brand.

Some other differences would be the ratings such as seer seer stands for seasonal energy efficiency ratio and what that basically means is kind of like cars with gas mileage. The higher the seer is the more efficient that he pump is designed to be in your home. Next.

Would be tonnage and basically, the higher the ton is the more BTUs that heat pump. Our air conditioner is rated for, and just because the number is higher doesn't necessarily mean it's better for your home. You should have a heat load calculation, a proper calculation done for your home to determine what size is better for your home in Virginia. You can actually easily oversized a system, and if it's oversized it will actually be less efficient and less comfortable in your home.

The smaller it is, the more it will run, the less short cycling, you'll have and the more moisture it will remove from the air.
