Are you interested in a specific heating and air brand, and you can't find anyone in your market that even sells it we're going to talk about that? Give you a few things to think about in this video, but i want to first start out by saying there is no one heating and air brand that is best in every market and you say: well, you know what do you mean there? Isn't one brand? That's best what i mean by that is unlike say, a car, so if they can take three cars beside one another and say yup, this car is the best it's the fastest, it's the most luxurious and it's the best heating and air, in my opinion, is more Than just the equipment itself, there's so much more than that, there's the contractor. There's the warranty, there's the being able to pick up the phone and call somebody if there's an issue, and that is not the same. The brands are all unequal in different markets. I'll give you a good example: there is one specific brand in my market that has a decent reputation across the nation.

I have friends in the industry and other markets that sell this brand and love it there's no good supplier in my area for that brand. So it would be silly for me to tell my customers hey. You should buy this brand because they're best they're the best across america, but i don't have anybody. I can call if there's something wrong.

It's just a silly way of thinking. So just keep that in mind as we go through the rest of these tips that no one brand is best in every market. Stop focusing on the brand we'll talk about that at the end. But if you saw one of my videos or some other information on the internet - and you have something in particular that you want you want a brand because of this reason, or that reason you may already know this, but in case you don't a lot of brands.

Are the same equipment so like cars, where you have general motors that makes all these different brands it's the same company, but they make chevrolet and gmc and hummer and all cadillac. All these different brands, heating and air is the same way. There's only like seven or eight main manufacturers, but you have hundreds of brands. So if you're wanting say this brand right here realize you can probably get this brand and get the exact same equipment and get in the end, what you want, if you're looking at say you want to root, we'll realize rheem and root are the same stuff.

If you want to train or realize american standard and train are the same stuff, if you want a carrier, bryant and carrier are the same stuff. So just keep that in mind that you know don't just get hung up on one specific brand realize that there may be a company that makes two different brands, but it's the same stuff. So let me just say this: if you cannot find anyone in your market that will not sell the brand or the particular product that you're after just realize, there may be a reason for that. It may be that they can't find a good supplier, or maybe that brand's not as great as you think they are.
I have brands that i love, but i'm not so naive to think that, just because i love ford doesn't mean everyone's got, ta love a ford. Maybe they love chevrolet right. I think that you need to be focusing more on the contractor, the installer of that equipment than the heating and air brand. I would say, find a good contractor find somebody that gives you the warm fuzzies somebody that answers the phone.

When you call somebody that cares that you're having an issue and you're not just another customer to them, someone that has a little bit of empathy for your situation find that company, whatever brand that they're drinking the kool-aid for right. That's the analogy i always use. If they're drinking the kool-aid and they love this brand - and they can tell you why they love that brand go with that company and what they recommend. Don't try to get that company to sell you something that they're not in love with, because you may regret it in the end.

I think the installer matters way more than the brand anyway. There are brands on the market that i've done other videos on. They have a bad reputation only because they'll sell to just anybody and they get this bad reputation, because you got all these guys that don't know what they're doing or don't care you know, they're doing things like brazing without nitrogen. I've actually had comments on my videos where they're like you, don't need to do that and i'm like yeah you're, the guy that i have to keep going behind.

You're, the guy. That's stealing people's money, and you don't do everything correctly, so find a good installer. I don't care if it's a big or small company, someone, that's got a great reputation and someone that you connect with that. You can call.

If there is a problem. I had a customer that we were helping with the guide. Just last week we were going back and forth and they said you know i hired this company and there were some red flags and i just wasn't in love with this or that and it was kind of a red flag. But i really wanted a bosch.

I had this other company that i liked way better this other contractor, but they wouldn't sell me a bosch. I really wanted a bosch heat pump, so i hired this guy over here i already kind of could tell there was going to be an issue, but he would sell me the product that i wanted and they regretted it we were going through. Where do we go from here now that you've made this bad decision, because you were hung up more on the brand than you were? The contractor, don't make that same mistake hire the contractor and go with what they recommend. I i'm just telling you you'll avoid so many issues and i get people almost daily comment on our youtube videos or on our guide and say: what's the best brand or hey, should i choose this brand or that brand stop worrying about the brands worry more about The contractor and if you've got a contractor that will sell you two different brands.
Maybe that's a red flag. Maybe they haven't found the brand that they just absolutely love, or maybe you just need to ask them what they recommend. Have that conversation? Let them tell you why i love this product. I put one in my own home, i think they're great.

I can pick up the phone right now and call this heat and air brand or my supplier and tell them hey. I've got an issue all that stuff. Should play a role in your decision, i'm about to wrap up, but i just have a couple more things to touch on. The first is some markets.

I i don't know why. I don't know why they're stuck in the past, but there are some markets in the u.s right now that they will not sell you higher-end equipment. I was just talking to somebody the other day and they said hey and i'm in this particular state and i i've called around. I cannot find anybody that'll even sell me anything higher than 16 seer.

I've talked to other folks that they'll say i can't find anybody. That'll install ductless units for me and unfortunately i genuinely i don't have an answer for that. I don't know why there are still markets out there that they will not grasp a hold of the newer technology. I have people, they'll argue with me and they'll say.

Well. I just don't think it's worth it. I can see where that argument might be valid in certain situations, but just to simply not offer the product to your customers. If you have a customer that specifically says hey, i don't care whether or not you, mr contractor, see the value in me buying a higher end system.

I don't care, i still want it. The fact that they still will just not sell it or push back on that is odd to me. Eventually, we're going to get bumped up so high that a lot of these guys stuck in the past are going to be just that they're going to be stuck in the past and, unfortunately, they've got apprentices learning under them that are still going to be stuck there Too you better get with the times if you are not installing inverter systems or at least learning how to install them or ductless system. You might want to be changing your ways: you're not going to be in business in a few years, if you're still stuck in the past again, if you're a homeowner, you can't find anybody.

I am so sorry, i i don't know what to say to that other than keep looking around. Maybe you'll find a younger guy. When i started griffin air, i wanted to be different. I didn't want to be like the company i was leaving, and so eventually maybe you'll find somebody that's going to get with the times in your market.

So in summary, just to wrap up focus more on the installer find a good contractor and go with the brand. They recommend don't worry about it. If you can't find somebody that sells that particular brand that you want for one reason or another, i genuinely think you need to focus more on the installer find somebody good that way. You don't have to worry about it anymore.

I’ve always been curious why does your air handler run like a minute longer then your condenser is there a way they both would shut off at the same time?

Ill tell you why they don't want to install inverter units, from what ive heard they're a pain to work on if they break down and alot of companies just don't want to deal with the headache.

In terms of contractors that sell two brands, that’s common here in my market in the Midwest. Generally, they sell a “premium” brand like Trane and a “value” brand like one of the ICP brands.

I wish I could hire you but I'm in the Northern Virginia area. Do you recommend any particular contractors in my area? Thanks!
