Is your hot tub alkalinity low? The quickest way to boost it is with an alkalinity increaser. There's another thing you can use, and it's something that you might already have in your kitchen. Baking soda can be used as a replacement for alkalinity increaser. That's because the main ingredient sodium bicarbonate, is the same in both products.

Just make sure that the baking soda you use doesn't have any additional additives. If you want to raise your alkalinity by 10 parts per million, use 1 tbspoon of baking soda for every 100 gallons of water. Just keep in mind that raising your alkalinity will likely also raise your pH. Have you ever used baking soda in your hot tub? Let us know in the comments.
