I got a call from a lady the other day who works for Motili. She made a comment about Daikin which prompted our conversation and this video. I had no idea that Daikin owned Motili or was affiliated in any way with them. This video is meant to talk about my history with Motili and where they are heading.

Hey guys, have you ever heard of a company called modally? Maybe you have maybe you haven't, and maybe, if you're seeing this video you will in the future years ago, i used to do a lot of fannie mae type work and what i mean by that is when the economy crashed around 2008 before that, when houses would Go into foreclosure a lot of the banks would try to unload the houses uh before 2008. You used to be able to buy a house after it been foreclosed on. I remember seeing like houses that were like ginormous houses. You know worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and being bought for a fraction because whoever owned it had been foreclosed on and the bank would just unload it, but as time went on a lot of the banks, a lot of the realtors and then eventually fannie mae Took control of it themselves, but basically a lot of those companies started flipping the houses themselves.

So when a house would get foreclosed on, they would go in and basically flip the house themselves instead of unloading it. So someone else could do it and make the money. So the bank or fannie mae or whoever would take that house bring in contractors, bring it back up the snuff and put it back on the market. So that's how i first ever heard of this company called motely.

I was doing some of that work. I've been doing it for some other companies and then eventually, modally came along and that's how i got tied in with them, and so we were doing some work with them. In fact, i did work for them for years uh we would go into houses and they were flipping the house, they would have a budget and we would replace the heating and air system in a lot of those houses. It wasn't something you could get rich off of in a lot of cases.

They would provide the equipment, they would set the pricing, but you know when i was first starting out. It was good, steady work and they were actually a pleasure to work with. You know that has since changed and i'm going to get into more of that in just a moment, but they used to be quite pleasurable to work with. They didn't give me a lot of guff and i did my work and i did it well and i didn't hear much out of them so after i had done that for a few years, eventually, modally started calling me for other stuff.

They started calling me to take care of apartment complexes. They had customers that were multi-family housing of some type and they would send us to actual service calls at an apartment complex, and it was a little different. In some cases. We set the pricing in some cases.

They set the pricing, but ultimately it was another thing that they were getting into, whether they were already into it or not. Before that i don't know, but then they started calling us and that's how i was starting to be introduced to that more. But as time went on to make a really long story, short modally started getting crazy and that's what i'll just say they started getting crazy on me. They didn't up the amount of money that they would pay us, but all of a sudden we started had to fill out so much more paperwork.
The fact that i would just say, hey, i replaced the system - was no longer good enough. The pictures that we would send in and prove that we did - the work was no longer good enough. We started having to do these startup checklists and all this paperwork that they were starting to require, which is fine. They can require whatever they want to require, but the problem was we weren't getting paid any more money to do it.

So you know we were taking jobs, that we can knock out. Pretty quick put in new systems, move on and now we're being bogged down with. Having to sit there and figure out, oh well, you know what what does this line even mean? Let me call them you know, let me figure out this paperwork and it just honestly became such a headache that we actually stopped working for them. At one point, they even started requiring us to pull permits for things that we don't even have to pull permits for in virginia and the problem with that was when i've told them that, instead of just taking my professional opinion, i'm a master hvac technician.

They would require me to go to the counties and get proof that i didn't need to pull a permit for that. Well, no counties around here would provide that they're not going to provide me with a letter that says i don't need to pull a permit and in fact i can think of one particular city, i'm not going to mention it, but they wanted their money, and so They would tell me that i needed a permit when i actually did not need a permit, they would say yeah, you need a poor permit. You need to come down here and pay us. So ultimately, the moral of the story was.

I stopped working for modally. The money wasn't good enough. There was too much work being involved and it became too much of a headache and griffin. Air had grown a little bit and we just didn't need the headaches.

To be honest with you now, some things have changed since then. Modally has changed a lot actually they've grown. They have started doing home warranties. If you want to know how, i feel about home, warranties watch a video that i did a while back, i think they're a scam to be completely honest with you, but i'm not going to get into all that on this video motley's also gotten into commercial properties.

So if a commercial company calls them modally will play middleman and send out contractors to that business or commercial property to get them taken care of and then finally, among all the other things they do, you can go to their website. You can see all the things it's actually a whole slew of things they do, but finally they called me the other day and they said hey we're doing these recalls. You know goodman daikin they've got these recalls on some products and we want you to go to customers, houses and do this recall, work and, of course, they're setting the pricing and they're providing the materials again and of course, i asked about paperwork and we ultimately decided That it wasn't a fit. You know the payout was just.
You know not good enough for us to be able to step away from the customers that we already take care of my crew ain't, but so big and good helps hard to find. But what i found out through that whole conversation is daikin and a lot of you guys have known if you've seen any of my other videos. You know that i have done other videos on daikon and have talked extensively about them. Daikon has now acquired modally.

Some way somehow so they actually own modally, good or bad. I just thought that was interesting and thought. I would share that so again who is modally? Maybe you found this video because you're trying to figure out who they are, or maybe you've never heard of them, and you will soon. I don't know it's pretty obvious to me that who they were and who they are now is totally different.

They used to be a smaller company. They used to have one guy that i would call up. If i had an issue, if i couldn't get into a property. For example, i had one guy that i could call and he actually had the relationship with the realtor and it was just great but now they're, just this big they're becoming this big conglomerate of a company.

I'm not sure that's a good thing, but it is what it is all that said, if you cross paths with modally in one way, shape or form put a comment down below. Let me know i mean, maybe it's good, maybe it's bad, i don't know but put a comment. Let me know what your thoughts are. I'd be curious to know all that said thanks for watching hit that subscribe button, we'll see you next time you.
