On this episode, we're talking about using antifreeze in your pool, do you even need it stay tuned? You see what i did there. You thought the video froze did yet get it frozen. Okay! First off you really only need antifreeze. If you have an in-ground pool.

You add it to the pipes uh to prevent water from freezing expanding and bursting your pipes. However, i recommend you remove all water from your pipes by blowing out your lines using an air compressor. So if there's no water in the pipes during the winter, nothing will freeze and therefore you don't need any freeze. That said, if you are going to blow out your own pipes and you're, not confident in your ability to do so, you can add antifreeze as a backup insurance policy, speaking of freezing and bursting of pool equipment.

That leads us to our bonus tip. Today's bonus tip is brought to you by the art of pool care, an illustrated downloadable guide, covering everything you need to know about, pool maintenance, get your copy at swimuniversity.com art and enter the promo code, video to get five bucks off. This is a gizmo. It's a hollow plastic tube that you put in your skimmer if it gets.

If water gets in your skimmer and it freezes, the ice will expand and it will crack your skimmer. Do you know how much it costs to replace a skimmer inside underneath a concrete in a jeep? It's not cheap. The gizmo will absorb the ice expansion it cracks so that your skimmer doesn't and make sure you use one on both an in-ground and an above-ground pool. I have an intex 16 x 32 pool. Im going to winterize it and use air pillow but my concern its that its very cold here and water freezes? Im not sure if my liner will hold if the water freezes?? Should
I add antifreeze before closing the pool?

I have a above ground pool for three years now and I remove the pump and filter into my garage. Is it necessary for me to buy antifreeze? I usually buy a winterizing package and winter pill I didn’t think I needed antifreeze, so do I?

I have a main drain on my above ground pool. Do I need to put antifreeze in it?

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars acwijj says:

Is this a special anti-freeze for pools or is this the same chemical as used in a car?

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Warrington says:

If you are going to say that some one should use a gizmo on an above ground pool for insurance. You definitely aught be using antifreeze in the lines for in ground pool. Plugs or your gizmo could leak and what’s a gallon of antifreeze in comparison to fixing one line especially if it’s under a concrete deck. Even paying a professional to find a leak will cost you more than 10 years worth of antifreeze for your pool especially if you have a pool spa combo pool

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nick Scangas says:

is it possible to pour antifreeze in the entire pool to prevent ice from forming and damaging the pool liner when it starts to melt rapidly? I’ve had liner damage two years in a row from this issue.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Swim University says:

When do you normally close your pool? And do you hire someone to blow out the lines or do it yourself? Are you in Orleans ?

how do you remove the antifreeze in the lines of an in ground pool upon opening ?
