Do you hate opening up your pool in the spring only to find green murky water? The secret is to take action now to prevent algae later. There's one key chemical that you can add to your pool in the winter and that's the right kind of algicide. Look for a 60% Polyquat Algicide. Adding this to your water and recovering your pool will stop algae from growing during any mild or warm days, and it's stable in colder temperatures.
Just be sure to add it separately from shock. But what about winter Algicide? While this is less expensive and less likely to foam up than Polyquat Algicide, it contains copper, which can also cause staining. So don't use this type of algicide if you have Metals in your water source or you have a mineral system in your pool.
