The stuff you see from the factory look at these ring terminals, just squished in here my favorite is the middle one. At least these other two are tight, but man that's pretty poor. I don't know what else to say: gon na have to redo those connections. Somehow i don't even know if i have parts for that, i got ta get this unit started up.
This is a brand new unit came like this. I don't have a crimper for number six wire and i don't have crimps for a number six wire and i don't think i can get either of those in any sort of reasonable amount of time. I've also thought about getting some sort of lugs to put on these screws to terminate the wires, but i don't have those and there again will these screws be long enough to put a lug on there, because the thickness of any of the lugs i've ever seen Is significant, so i got a way: i'm gon na fix this in the field, and maybe some people won't agree with it or make fun of me, but that's fine, so comment below how you'd fix it and i'll show you what i'm gon na do what we Did to fix this is i chopped these off to roughly, as far back as i could i'm to trim the ears off that one, a little bit more, i went through with a pilot bit and then a drill bit that was slightly bigger than these screws, like Very, i don't want these to thread through there, but i i want to get as much surface area touching as possible. So that's what we're going to have to go with on this repair.
I believe that this is going to create good contact. It's not ideal, but sometimes you got to do what you got to do. Let me get these all landed on the terminals back where they go and i'll show you guys what that looks like and there you have it better than factory right, because factory is pretty lacking in this situation. So i'm gon na get this all tightened back up.
Get this all wired! Back correctly, i had this holding my solenoid open because i didn't have a magnet up here with me. So obviously i have power unapplied right now, but i'm gon na turn. This back on. I have the wire pulled off the contactor to keep that solenoid open, because i don't know if that electronic valve is open, interesting issues, something to watch out for thanks for watching our video.

👍 Service area Nepean??
In the 3phase compressor how do we know if it is in wrong rotation Service area Barrhaven??
I'd trust your connections more than what was existing
This was definitely made on a Friday, that's exactly what I would have done. Good stuff
Add a split washer.
Look at all the weld splatter on that compressor… who’s the manufacturer of that pile of 💩?
West Marine will have exactly what u need also. I would think electrical supply house such as Walters should have too. Auto parts store maybe – since #6 is used in automotive.
A Good auto parts – for sure.
I’d Recomnend stocking the truck now with the correct connections , your going to need them again probably. Best to have some stock. Are you in Kanata ?
This is the same way I learned to fix bad terminal contacts.
Wow ! Those Factory connections we’re Rediculously Poor. Your Fix , does not get any better than that ! 👍 fyi – I get lugs in Home Depot that will fit #8 wire & I believe it’s a Thomas & betts Steel lug if memory serves.
They might have #6 wire ones.
The #8 ones they carry are really nice. Sold in a package of 1/Each package.
can i use a 12 cfm vacuum pump on a 23 steer mini split ductless system?
That sounds like The tech Eric M. That guy is a good tech. I always learn from his videos. Thanks for posting 👍🏻.
Ahhh a day in the life of an "on the fly" mechanic.
That is why pre commissioning list should be performed before any commisioning of new units..
I like your fix. Right before you revealed your solution. I though clipping the ends off of some smaller ring terminal crimps and using it as a washer. But you solution seems great.
Non insulated ring terminal. Kline crimper. Keep number 6-4gauge ring terminal on the truck!😎 Are you in Nepean ?
Nice!
How many guys would not even opened that up and just fired it up?
Quality control passed.
Great solution. I wouldn’t have thought of that. I just learned something very practical
I would’ve used the right size terminal or just did what the tech did, soldered then onto the wires (especially in a high load like compressor), used a washer on top and been done. Maybe overkill but you won’t have to fix it again.
Nice video! Can you please tell us what you did with the solenoid?
Good solution
Nice job and video like always Service area Kanata??
Nice catch Eric.
Great bro keep it up
Hi, help me
Show a video to replace the chiller filter
Should always check connections before start up and re check on first p.m.
Actually pull everything apart and put it back together. It will just take about a week or so.
There is a good possibility that China man did that in purpose to take down our HVAC grid.
This is what happens when most people sit on their ass collecting socialism checks and the only people willing to work are the idiots that didn’t work prior to stimulus checks…meanwhile, the rest of us don’t qualify for stimulus checks…wouldn’t want to honestly.
I would chew them up and eat it
Was that a Copeland?
1/4 copper , insert the end of the wire in, then flatten the copper, use your drill to open a hole for the size screw on the terminal, End of the story. That’s what I do. Hope that helps. Service area Ottawa??
Well done! But BEWARE THIS:
"Nothing so temporary, as something permanent!", and,
"Nothing so permanent, as something temporary!"
What kind a unit is that? Just curiusb
Nice fix, good job Are you in Ottawa ?
Ideal repair done
Excellent solution!!!
Is that Carrier?
I like it. Pretty good solution.
Next time, pick up some heavy duty copper ring terminals (pre-tinned is okay too) 6 Ga with 1/4” eyelet at Auto Parts or Lowe’s. You’ll need some 5/16” or 3/8” heat shrink from same places. Also get a hd or a hydraulic crimper or use a rounded off 1/4” punch and a piece of heavy steel inner corner. Then use a propane torch and electrical solder for best connection.
Creative solution. Good thinking in a difficult situation. Are you in Orleans ?
Always check the connection that's what I learned the hard way
That’s what a real tech does! You have to improvise with what you have within reason to make things operable in a safe and correct manner. Nice work! I may have to try that at some point!
Jandy was here.
Or factory set screws on pulleys
