After installing an Aprilaire dehumifier and pit with a sump pump, the basement is dry!

As this is maybe, like you know, a product that not everyone offers hey, guys, Joshua Griffin, air serving the middle Peninsula and the Northern Neck, it is a rainy day today see if we can see this outside of our shop, see all the puddles and the the Rain, it's a pretty pretty nasty day, see up there to the pond, see all that rain fallen. So I wanted to do a video, because this is maybe, like you know, a product that not everyone offers. I guess, and what I mean by that is you know we sell a lot of products like I don't know like a heating and air system, for example, there's other companies that sell heating and air systems and we just try to sell them as well sell the Best products at with the best, warranties and and that's kind of our niche, but what I'm about to show you? I'm not! I'm actually not sure if every company does offer this, and this is something that we can offer to you. It's kind of a little different and you know so.

This is our shop. I have a little shop in our basement here. You can see the the ground is pretty dry right now and it's just a normal dirt floor. Like you know any other basement.

I guess that has a dirt floor or crawlspace. The thing is when, when I first moved into this house and for a couple years late after we moved into this house, this did not look like this on a rainy day. It would I mean it would actually fill up a little bit down here, so we'd have puddles of water collecting and we've done a number of things to help mediate, that and and I'm not gon na get into all of it. I'm not a foundation at expert.

I'm not all that stuff, but the number ones all those things helped a little, but none of it eliminated it. It would always at least get damp down here, if not completely wet, and why do you? Why does this matter? Well, the first thing is the air. You breathe inside your home. You know we're down here in the basement, but you know if mold or mildew starts to create down here.

Other microbials were to start of you know growing because they like moisture that can be a problem. Another problem might be termites termites, like moist locations versus dry, and you can have issues with that. So what did we do? That's different. I guess you know we did the foundation thing.

We did all these different things as far as that goes, but we did two things that pretty much eliminated the problem almost entirely. The first thing we did is you can't see it, but under all this crap back here over there behind my finger in that area right there, we actually dug a French drain type of ditch and installed a pit in there. Now. This is not one of those crazy expensive pits that some folks will have installed in their basements hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars to install it.

This was just a normal. We just did a pit in there. We actually took a five-gallon bucket drilled holes in the side of it, put a special filter on there and then filled the ditch up with gravel like a French drain type of deal and and then installed a sump pump in that five-gallon bucket. So we have a sump pump that if water does collect down there, that will pump that out of there.
Okay, so that's the first thing we did and then the next thing we did is we installed. This is an April layer dehumidifier, and this thing is awesome. It and it removes so much humidity, it does such a good job. You can't oversize, like you know like with the air conditioner or a heat pump, you can oversize it in fact, most companies do they do it all the time they oversize them and it causes issues in the home and and we can get into that on another Video, in fact I have, but with a D you Mehta fire, you know you, you can't over sized it.

It just removes the humidity even faster if it's, if it's bigger than what you need. So we put one of these guys in there and they come with a five-year warranty. Now you might say well so do other dehumidifiers yeah, but the difference is with the April layers with the April layer. Dehumidifiers is it's an a it's a I'm gon na say an infinite five years, but but let's say something goes wrong with this dehumidifier in the first five years, let's say year, four, we have an issue they're gon na give me a new dehumidifier too, because the Old one, you know pooped out and they're gon na give me another five years, so, unlike other companies where that five years might might actually disappear after you've, you know honored the warranty made a claim got a new unit and then the five years runs out right April air, it just keeps going, you know, they're, they believe in their product that much or give you a good warranty and if you've got a problem.

They're gon na give you that good warranty on the only replacement product. Okay, so we came off of our de Mehta fire there, it's kind of like a little makeshift one. What you know it's just here in our shop here, so it's not like super crazy. You can see that the you know they got the wire just hang in here we did a simple, simple, humidistat control down here to help control it.

The dehumidifier has its own humidistat in there. Why? The reason we did not use that is because it is you know, we'd have to get a ladder just to get up there. It's got an air filter, you'd have to clean every now and then, but it just works so good. I wanted to do a video on that.

We ran the drain over here. Behind all this you can see we had a little dehumidifier. That was hoping a little, but it wasn't. It wasn't doing this, and then we ran the drain back here.

A little sump pump in our shop here so that's kind of what we did and it pretty much nipped it in the bud. It's dry down here, it's really dry. The humidity in our house is better. You know on a hot summer day and that humidity gets high in your house.

You can have all kinds of issues, but just high humidity affects your comfort. It affects the air you breathe, it affects the the the environment of microbials or and bacteria, and all that stuff being able to to you, know to grow. So this thing is fix, more issues than then-then-then not and it's a simple fix is something that we can do for you and relatively inexpensive in comparison to other options. If you have any questions, give us a call.
Eight. Oh four: five! Oh five, zero. Two! Four! Seven or go to our website, I do our website myself, I do it in-house, I built it from the ground up and the reason that is is you know I don't have an outside marketing company that goes on there and puts all the jibber-jabber on there that They think they want. You know that you want to hear or to get you know to rank higher and results or whatever our goal is to provide information on there.

That is going to help you and also information about us so that you're aware what we offer all this stuff. So I'm very uh, I'm actually proud that we do the website and house, because maybe it doesn't look as fancy as somebody that does it for a living. Maybe I think it looks pretty good and - and you know we try to put stuff on there - that actually will help you. So if you again, if you have any questions, give us a call, our website is Griffon air net.

Thank you.
