This, my friends, is a universal hub for condenser fan motors When you put an aftermarket blade or it doesn't even have to be aftermarket if they just accept a universal hub, but some dodo had put it on backwards. you're defeating the whole purpose of the Hub. If you put it on this way, then the only thing holding the blade on is three screws and you don't have to fight getting the shaft out from the Hub itself. Now someone did a good job and they cut the shaft down on this.

But the problem when you cut a shaft down is you mushroom out the top and it makes it difficult to get them off. Now yes, I can get this figured out, but this could have been a lot easier had someone use their brain and put the Hub on this way. Now you may even say well, maybe there wasn't room. There's plenty of room down there for that Hub to go down on the bottom side.

Then you put the set screws in and you set the Hub and then you screw the blade back on the top with just these screws. So gotta use your brain.

Could have been worse. They could have tightened the set screws on the round part of the shaft

Keeping them from rusting in place is nice too.

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert M says:

The shaft won’t “mushroom” just cutting it unless you beat it with a hammer for some reason but a file quickly and easily takes the edge’s off after the cut for a nice smooth taper

But if them screws was on bottom now when it spins it will want to back them screws out from spinning? With it the other way, they wabt to tighten. And if they come out the blade wint damage anything. The other way if the screws comes out now we got a lot more damage….

You know I know how not to be a big dummy but as I was scrolling and glazing over this video not really paying attention I came to the realization that us service techs really do sound like a bunch of nerds 😂🤣😂

Like a bunch of pretentious nerds.

I understand that for some ppl HVAC is their entire life. 30-40 years of HVAC is fine but for others this profession is just a stepping stone or they got stock or properties giving them passive income, maybe they want to move to management or sales or estimator or vendor for carrier etc and you think about the real insignificance of the idea of fixing a fan blade kinda makes you rethink life Are you in Barrhaven ?

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars oh says:

Having to go through all those issues somebody is getting charge big time. He had all the room before cutting the shaft.

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Vincent Pribish says:

Why you want the hub underneath is because the force is pushing down on the blade.
    The hub becomes the stop.
With the hub on top the same down force is on the screw heads.

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars dlauser says:

That used to piss me off when some twerp did that.

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Free Samples says:

    Silicone the top as well.

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Vincent Pribish says:

Wait, the blade itself has a hexagon cutout correct ?
That's what takes the stress off the screws.

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars SOURADEEP BISWAS says:

Common sense is the basic thing on doing a job. Previous guy don't have any.

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars tjhnd11 says:

They definitely screwed the blades onto the hub without checking the blade direction. And then just said F it this works fine 😅

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David Cirigo says:
