Another great Tech Eduard Khachaturyan joins us to show how to Fabricate a Metal Supply Plenum From Scratch. Here are some links to the tools in the process:
Folding tool (in New Jersey we call them clip bender)

I don’t know how they are called we call them “big ass snips”
https://www.trutechtools.com/Malco-M14N-Andy-Straight-Aluminum-Handle-Snip-14.html
In the video I used Midwest brand but true tech tools doesn’t carry them, however they have Malco ones which is also great snips I just like midwest more, fits better in my hand. We call them right snips or red snips but I just realize they called “Offset Aviation Snips, Left Cut” probably because you can make turn only to the left with this snips, when with the green handle ones you can turn only right.

Aluminum ladder can be used anything that has a corner (the old furnace, any old door, new plywood…) but work platforms are the best for me

All right so today we are going to be making a supply plenum for a 14 inch cabinet up flow furnace dimensions, 12 and a half by 18 and three quarters by 32 inches high. So we cut all the excess metal off the roll leaving us 12 and a half by 18 and three quarters by twelve and a half by nineteen and three quarters the extra one inch for a step to close the block box. So, okay, so he made three-eighths triangles on both ends on the bottom, to allow for us to screw the box in one inch triangles on the top to allow for a slip and an end cap creased axes, so that the box doesn't inflate or deflate. When the system turns on and creased where all the bends will be foreign mastic in insulation, should you should your installation call for that and we're all finished thanks for watching you.
Very nice!
That was great. I've been doing AC for almost 30 years and I've never seen a ladder used as a brake before. Well done.
What gauge metal were you using?
Amazing job… Service area Barrhaven??
Who the hell gives this a thumbs down? That’s mad skills right there. Looks like it was done in a factory. Great job man.
I hope you don't intend to use that rectangular supply air plenum with branch runs off the sides and end in a real system.
you know they got 24in barfolds right, probably would be easier for you
Terrific video. I have 0 metal experience but am in the process of designing/building a geothermal heating/cooling system for my greenhouse/gardening business.
I am planning on making my own "air handler/heat exchanger" and am trying to figure out how to fabricate my unit. I guess I would just do the same as you show here except I want a removable panel so I will just need to build an interior structure. I want a double insulated wall so I just need to make 2 of the same box just 1 bigger than the other.
Considering you only used sheet metal, snips and a ladder for creasing and some simple tools for making the bends this should be doable.
Thanks for the video.
Nice work.
How much would it cost to install a supply plenum, probably not as tall as that one? I need this replaced in my home. The current one there is made out of some other material, flimsy, and now it has come unsealed. I have taped it and used adhesive spray to try and seal it good, but it is not staying. Wish there was a way to add pictures on here. Trying to get an idea of how much is going to cost me to get this job done professionally. Are you in Ottawa ?
There's no reason for you to be on your knees on the ground. Brian is a shitty boss. You deserve a trailer with proper tools.
Lol. You guys missed it .
Thank you.
Step by step ; close up only help's only.
Impressive….
Sheetmetal supertech. Awesome work
Great video and very informative! Are you in Nepean ?
Wow. I hope to be that good one day
Very impressive! With no special tools
Great idea using two 12" bar benders. I've lost THREE 24"over my career; been debating on buying another 24"…now I am gonna buy 1 more 12 incher. Service area Nepean??
Red snips are always right cut tho. Didnt know malco di it backwards.
Red-right
Green-Left
Yellow-Straight
Not trying to take away from the good work tho. Looks good
I'm going to school and you save me at least an hour thank you for your video Service area Orleans??
Thanks, that's cool using a ladder to make the box.
Like it.
when you say slips do you mean s clamps or drive clamps?
The cross breaks on the ladder was genius. We do a lot of field fab and ill definitely be using this trick. Much easier and quicker than trying to use a bar. Those turned out crisp and clean. Kudos to the installer.
Please buy your employee a Hensler Bender please
I love all your content , but this one made me mad 😠 save him from hammering his hands on a ladder and make his job easier if you care about him
Please get a table. My knees are aching watching you lol
He's good
Great Video! On an Air Handler, is there a minimum length the Supply Plenum must be before a Tee, Elbow or duct? If so why? Are you in Barrhaven ?
Wonderful… thanks for taking the time to make this video… would you, by chance, have a part number on those hand held benders"
Why not buy a premade plenum?
Awesome job. Good on you for showing off your techs. Service area Ottawa??
That was awesome. I once used a door to makr my bends, it worked. But never thought to just use a straight edge
Thank you very much for sharing I learned something new today Are you in Kanata ?
Very skillful, great job.
Especially nice build considering you made it off a latter. Great job!
I loved it. The ladder trick was pretty good. I probably would’ve broken that end cap, but to each his own. Great job. It was very informative for a tech that knows nothing about where to start. I’d say this guy is shop trained. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
It is my firm belief that this man is completely Not Human 😂💪🏾🦺🤝
Impressed with how the bends, cross breaks turned out with that ladder trick 👏 👏. Great job
Amazing. Thank you for this video. Kudos to the technician.
LOVE IT!
Impressive nicely done
Wow!!!! Absolutely amazing. Much respect for these tinners
Now I have no more excuses. 😂
Nice work.
What gauge metal is that ?
Must have used either 28 or 26 ga. to be able to make creases.
i guess if you wrap it with insulation you'll never notice all the scratches. but this wouldn't fly in my area. Tin knockers are to skilled here.
Nice.
BUT that is a square tap.
I was taught to make a long sweep (like a cold air return) with an inside round sweep not square.
It's quiter and less turbulent..
No break on the cap? I’m in school and was thought to break the cap, so just curious. Also great job!
My knees hurt just watching this. Good job.
Awesome job. Good on you for showing off your techs.
