From a frog's point of view, your pool looks like the perfect pond to take a swim, and if your pool attracts a lot of bugs and insects, it can become a frog's favorite food source. Luckily, there are eight ways to keep frogs out of your pool water check it out number one use a cover cover your pool at night or whenever you're, not using it. This will help keep bugs out of your pool and take away the frog's food source for extra peace of mind. Consider using a pool safety cover they're made specifically to keep things from falling into your pool.
You can also use a solar cover which actually reduces evaporation at night, so your pool is warmer during the day. Speaking of warmth, number two heat: the pool water, here's a fun fact: frogs absorb oxygen through their skin and cold water has more dissolved oxygen than warm water. That's why frogs love a nice cool pond, while heating your pool, may not keep frogs out completely. It may make your water less appealing.
You can heat the water with a solar pool cover a liquid solar pool cover solar rings or a pool heater number three install a pool fence, a pool fence is a straightforward way to keep animals and especially frogs from finding their way into the water. Just be sure to choose the right type of fence iron bars, chain, link or anything, but holes won't keep frogs out so choose solid wood or vinyl. Fencing number four pull out your weeds frogs love hiding in dense patches of weeds and grass. So next time you do a little pool landscaping, clear the area around your pool and take out those frog friendly, hiding spots, number five turn off your lights.
Remember, lights, attract insects and keeping your lights on, especially at night means a buffet of bugs for your froggy friends. So when you're, not using your pool turn off all the lights in and around your pool, no lights, no bugs no frogs, plus you'll save money. On your electric bill number six install a water feature, insects, love laying eggs in still water gross and the more eggs they lay the more insects you'll have, which again means more frogs. You can add a pool fountain or a waterfall to help move the water around.
In your pool and deter those bugs from camping out number seven buy a frog log. Sometimes you find a frog in your pool simply because it couldn't get out on its own and if you want to help frogs get out of your pool after they jump in. Try a frog log, a critter net or a rescue ramp near the pool's edge. It's a small pad or a ramp that floats on the water and attaches to a weight on your pool.
Deck frogs and other small animals like mice and birds can climb up onto this pad and climb out of your pool and it's much more affordable than installing. A fence or buying a pool heater number eight create an alternative frog habitat. If you have a serious frog problem that just won't go away. Consider creating a small pond in your backyard, that's more attractive to the frogs than your pool.
You can line it with plants and flowers and add stones or logs to help frogs climb out of the water. Just make sure it's far enough away from your pool and that's it. If I saw a frog in the pool I would swim with it and play with it
Now I know what to do if I want to give frogs a buggy befut Are you in Barrhaven ?
What about salt pool maintenance and shocking?
We have above ground & they are getting under the white rim that goes around the pool at night & are so loud I can’t sleep. They actually sound like they are screaming because some are mating. They don’t go into the water much just staying under the rim but I think they are causing algae in our pool because it was not a problem till they showed up. Plus they are depositing their eggs into the bottom of the pool! Any more tips on how to get rid cause some of these tips are not feasible? Btw they are not real good at keeping the insects away either.
Yeah, no. Ive tried it all in this video and have a creek near my pool. They still manage their way in.
how do i keep crabs out of my pool. they smell terrible when i take them out
I found two frogs in my pool today! I’m fine with that lol
why would you keep the frogs out of the pool? they eat mosquitoes and are essential to a well balanced garden and ecosystem.
I Live in PR and here are a tiny “withe” frogs which jump and stick in almost everything. I found one sneaking on my above ground pool🤬🤬.
Dum dum
So my family’s pool is infested with frogs right now. How do I remove them safely without killing them before my mother kills the algae ?? I’m not a fan of frogs but I love animals & definitely don’t want them dead by bleach and other chemicals!
Lmao ok yeah none of this works. Now do a video for of you live in the country. This did may work for city and town people but not working in the country
We just built a pool on a house in Homestead, Fla. I was told by a neighbor that people catch any frog they see and put them in the garbage container. The garbage container is then picked up, with the frogs inside, by a garbage truck and taken to the garbage dump. The frogs continue living there with thousands of frogs.
Hey! I was wondering if frogs can get into your pool if your pool is not around a garden and instead on a higher floor of the building ? My pool is on the second floor and there’s like an outdoor area there, but that area is surrounded with a glass wall, is it possible for frogs to still get in?
Hate frogs Service area Orleans??
I have a very old pool – 1958. I am renting this house and I do my very best to keep the pool clean but it gets away from me. I am 71 years old and caring that chlorine back-and-forth is really very difficult for me. I spent half my time trying to get that pool clean. I run the filter I change the filter I cleaned everything I emptied the traps I do everything that I’m supposed to do and I still end up with frogs eggs all over my pool and now frogs. Help help help
I put in a frog pond…spent hundreds of dollars. Moved all the frogs into the pond and within 10 hours they were back in the pool.
We just purchased our home last Aug and are 1st time pool owners getting ready to open it up for the season soon. We found a very large bullfrog coming to our pool on a few nights late last summer. He jumps in the pool and you can hear it from inside the house! We keep the lights off when not using it and bought frog logs. I don’t mind the occasional frog but this guy is huge. Not fun skimming bullfrog poop. Appreciate the tips.
Haha, and this is why I have frogs. Though mine are in fall and cool water hibernating(inground pool). Service area Nepean??
You have a similar voice to Ed Helms
I live on Long Island, NY. My pool water is clean and constantly moving ten hours a day, so unlikely many bugs laying eggs. It is heated, as well. We keep it at 84*, so not exactly a "cool pond" for the frog to enjoy. It's is surrounded by three and a half feet of pavers on two sides and eight feet on the other two sides, so no weeds for frogs. Grass is mowed weekly, so that is not a habitat. Nevertheless, there is a frog in my pool about every other week and I think the poop on my top step is his doing. What do I do??? Service area Kanata??
if frogs come in my moms friends pool would grems go in the pool?
Frog 🐸 im my pool 🏊♀️ oh no well i guess i will swim with frogs and play marco polo with them 😂 lol
I am terrified of frogs 😫
Just drop a chlorobomb
Is it wrong of me to say that shocking the pool once a week tends to keep🐸frogs out of my pool?!😀
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great video! Thanks for the tips. The Frog Logs work great for us aside from the one "resident frog" who lives on it. 😄 I'll try some other tips here.
Our pool has never looked better, thanks to you! Are you in Ottawa ?
