Joshua saw a debate recently online where pros were arguing with non-pros and other pros about whether or not proper evacuation during an HVAC installation is necessary. Rather than joining the debate, Joshua goes through in this video the repercussions if you do not pull a proper vacuum during HVAC installations. The homeowner or customer is the one that will pay the price in the long term!

Another good video Josh
Just had some mini splits installed this week by a friend and his techs and spent a lot of time observing and asking questions. They brazed the connections at the heads (their preference) and tested with nitrogen to make sure there were no leaks. They also ran vacuum to make sure the lines were clear. They do residential and commercial all day, every day, and I certainly wasn't going question why they did what they did.
No vacuum? No Nitrogen? Hacks bring me stacks baby!
The only reason HVAC techs might have a debate as to performing an evacuation or not is the time it takes to do it. Many just feel its not necessary if they took other precautions. Problem with that idea is they are not scientists and engineers who know the true benefits of a vacuum. One of the most important features is "boiling off any water/moisture".
It's truly sad how many HVAC techs/contractors seem to think its fair game to rush a job and collect payment as if it were a legitimate service. Real bad thinking in that regard.
Joshua Griffin you made another excellent video. What are those DIY customers going to do to protect system from failure? Call a certified professional and pull a good vacuum or buy a $ 1,000.- vacuum pump? Daikin or any makers of HPs. should show in their warranty steps to address this obviously important problem!
R22 was more forgiving when it comes to pulling a vaccum because there was no glide and mineral oil doesn’t hold and trap moisture. But pov pve oils suck in moisture like a whore on the corner
Besides all you said . Is an EPA violation. It's a rule.
If nitrogen is put in system, definitely pull vacuum
thank you for posting this, the public needs to know why i insist on a triple evac
At my first HVAC job, the owner of the company didn’t believe in pulling a vacuum. He called it blow and go. I can honestly say that I always used a vacuum pump. Are you in Orleans ?
