Foreign, Foreign foreign. Hey guys live from Houston Texas Hopefully you can hear me. Please let me know if you can't um I am doing everything if you can't tell. I'm not in my normal studio so I am trying to do my best with a uh with my little bit of gear that I brought with me uh in a hotel room so this is a little different.

Hopefully you guys can see me okay and hear me okay. but uh Hey to Gary Good to see you and I I do have a few stories I'm going to share tonight. I Will say that there are going to be a few things that I'm not going to share tonight. so if you guys ask any questions I just don't want to be inaccurate.

uh I'm in the middle of the trip. we've been over to the Daikin Factory this week. For anybody that doesn't know and um, it's been. It's been a blast we've We've been behind closed doors on a few things.

We have been told that we're the first to do a few things to record a few things uh among out you know media Outlets that have been to the factory before, there are a few things that we are the first ever to record and so I'm honored by that. uh which is is really cool and it's just been a been a crazy experience so far. So I am going to share a few stories with you guys. um right now I'm I'm used to doing our show at 8 30 Eastern which um it's now Central for me right? I'm in the I'm in Texas so it's it's 7 30 central time so um still the same time right for the show but uh, it's just um you know, a little change for me.

So because of that um around eight o'clock I'm going to share a few things with you guys from our our trip so far here at Daikin um I will say uh just to kind of start off the show that you know we have. oh it's been a jam-packed few days. um we've we've been going non-stop you know we've we've been in the heat. uh down here with the the humidity and the heat index and all that.

um I you know up in Virginia we're seeing 70 80 degree days and and down here in Texas you know we're pushing over 100 degrees I believe they told me with heat index it's you know 108 degrees today 108 109 degrees. So um hey to Steve uh and as Steve says please hit that like button um and please share it and all that good stuff uh but yeah hitting that like tells YouTube that you know what we're doing is is something good and so that's the goal here. If you have any heating and air questions, feel free to drop those in the chat. um and uh yeah I mean I'm I'm shooting live here from a hotel room here in Houston and um the uh I tell you I already knew some facts about the Uh Daikin Factory For those of you that don't know the Daikin Factory it's the largest heating and air manufacturing facility in the In North America and the entire entire continent and um I pushed and I was asking like is it the biggest in the world or you know, where are we with that and I don't think they want to say anything inaccurate either.

so we're not really sure. But we do know that it's the largest heating and air manufacturing facility all Under One Roof in North America So um, it looks like my screen has paused. Uh, if you guys could let me know if you can hear me. Okay, um I can't tell for my end.
but it does look like my screen has paused. Um, can you guys see me? Okay, oh no, it says you can't Okay, uh, if you could wait just a moment, hopefully you guys can hear me. Okay I'm going to have to reboot something here. This happened one other time, so um, let me just right here.

Don't go anywhere. Okay, yeah, if you guys can hear me, um, just bear with me. I will be right back. I'm just rebooting this thing so bear with me.

Foreign. It wouldn't be a live show if we weren't having a little technical difficulties, huh? So let's see. and I'm just getting our chat back up here. Bear with me.

But while we're uh, while I'm getting everything back going here if you're just joining us I had a little technical difficulties there and um, if you, uh, have any heating and air questions, please drop those in the chat and we will get to those uh again around eight o'clock I'm going to share a little bit from our trip, but there are again, there are a few things that I'm not going to talk about yet just because I don't want to be inaccurate I Don't want to tell you that we didn't talk about something and you know, come tomorrow we do talk about it or something. So um, bear with me here just getting a few things getting our chat back up here. It was fun talking to a few of them that uh I actually told was talking about some of you guys and you know just some of the things that you guys will ask me from time to time and they'll actually really liked hearing that you know hearing what what is a concern for you for you guys and and they're very mindful of that that they you know they they don't just say well you know we're going to do what we're gonna do, they they? Wanna Know I Want to know what? Um, you guys think So bear with me here. Pop out.

okay, we're almost there. Okay, all right. yeah. so if you guys have any heating and air questions, please drop those in there.

Hey Gill good to see you again and uh Steve says yes they did buy good men I think that was in uh uh don't open the year but it's it's coming up on 10 years I think I'm wondering around 2014 is when they officially acquired Man I could be wrong on that year but um I uh it's been just been real eye-opening I can tell you this and and I know that you know we've got folks on here that maybe you've got a brand preference? may you? Maybe you have a system in your home that's not a dike in Goodman or Amana And you know maybe this doesn't interest you as much. But I will say this that I've met people today that uh, number one I met people that they really want to make things better that they are it. It's very, it's an active thing that they are working on that they are. you know, very um motivated to try to make changes and make things better.
That and and that is something that I could say about multiple people that we met today. uh just from having conversations with them I had a few people asking me questions what I thought we could do to you know that the industry itself but also them as a brand to to make things better for you the homeowner not not make things easier for them for for Daikin they want to make things easier and better for the homeowner. and so I thought that was really good. and the other thing that I thought was interesting is about Pride that a lot of these folks have.

um I Met people today that you know they are very proud of where they work. they take a lot of um Prada is the only one I could think of. They just take a lot of Pride and who they work for and the job that they're doing I Met people there that have been there for years. They started out there just thinking this is just a job, this is just a company and then they fell in love with it.

and for me on the outside of somebody that sells their products obviously I've got some pride but just just to see the pride that they have you know working there. that was just a lot of fun. So anyway, we've got a question here from Nicholas Nicholas says do you try to put vents near Windows during Renovations or home builds uh I think in general it does depend on the layout of the of the home. but yes, that is a a general rule.

Uh, every room is different. Every home is different and so I will say that there are rooms where if you imagine, if you've got the return on one side of the room and you're going to put a VIN or two on the other side of the room, it really doesn't matter. I Can't say it doesn't matter, but there are times when we are less worried about where the windows are and more worried about you know, creating Loops of air where the supply and the vent. I mean the return.

The supply and the return are creating almost like a loop there and and we're moving as much stale layer as what I call it air. that air pockets that are not moving. you want to circulate air whether you're trying to heat or cool the home. and um, a lot of guys, you know they will try to get those near uh, things like Windows um because of the Comfort aspect of the home and obviously that is also a penetration point.

You know a window is literally a hole in the side of your house. It's a hole in the side of a wall. Of course it's covered with glass, but it's still a hole there. So a lot of guys will try to keep their Vents and registers near those windows.

But there are times when you know it just may not make sense. you know for that looping aspect of of air circulation. So Steve says most air infiltration is from the outside, so best to supply near the exterior. Yeah, exactly.

And um so I I think uh, I Think As a general rule, the answer is yes to that, but I will say there's exceptions to a lot of rules, right? So Jay I'm gonna just call you Jay because I uh don't know uh how to say I think it's J Mislee j mislee Dan hey newly sub question? what is an HVAC don't laugh and HVAC HVAC stands for Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning. Um, some folks will even go so far as to calling it Hvr and then that R is Refrigeration So that's what HVAC is and um I probably talk about AC or heat pumps more. Uh, just because of the area that I live in. Um, but that's what HVAC is.
So Arch you were one of the people we talked about uh on my tour today and again I'm not going to share everything from today, but I will say that you were somebody that we talked about and you being out there in Arizona and some of the things that you have been up against so you you did come up in conversation I will tell you that um so Steve says Refrigeration yeah so if you have any heating and air questions, feel free to drop those in there. um again, we're live from Houston I'm not I'm normally in Virginia you know that's where I'm from and uh We are touring the Daikin Factory this week. It's a little surreal, you know. I make these YouTube videos trying just trying to help some homeowners without give them a few tips and uh, somewhere along the way you know we have been able to acquire a few of you guys if you've subscribed and we've gotten subscribers.

and so because of that, you know folks like Viking or letting us, uh, maybe go behind a few closed doors and record a few things that you know. maybe you guys wouldn't have seen any other way. Um I don't know if if it's it might, it might be a little much to say you never would have seen it, but maybe we're going to give you a a quicker way to get to some of these things, right? That's kind of the goal here. So Nicholas welcome to the show says have you added exhaust fans and large upstairs Very low airflow.

Have you added the exhaust fans and large upstairs attic spaces with very low airflow? Um so I I think you're talking when you say exhaust fans I Think you're talking about an attic fan and the answer is yes. I'm a big believer in attitance. Not only am I a big believer in attic fans, but we we don't even sell them. So it's not like I'm trying to sell people something, but we will a lot of times recommend a folk getting those kind of a new thing.

I mean I don't know how new they are. We've been recommending them for a handful of years now, but um, the solar powered actions because you know it obviously doesn't add electric bill. the only run during the day I'd recently scored uh, regular old four attic fans and uh, the advantages. but um, I've had homeowners that there are electric bills not just, you know, not increased because it's running off of solar, but it's decreased big time.

You know, getting that hot air out of that attic out of an oven basically on top of your top floor of your home? Um, and you know it's just. um, we. We've had people tell us they've seen just dramatic differences in their utility bills because of that and so Steve says I bet that factory is huge I tell you I can't when people would tell me how big it is I'm like yeah, you know it's big I've seen it. but um, today we got to see I don't I don't I don't think we got to see every square inch of the uh of the factory but they put me on this cart.
so I felt so bad because there's these folks walking around the factory in there I am riding by on a cart with uh with a guy. but uh, so there we are riding by on a cart and to go from one end of the factory to the other. Uh, on that cart. They say it's almost a half a mile from one side to the other.

so half a mile all. Under One Roof We're riding on this cart and again I don't know what I'm going to be able to show. Um, there's a few things that they don't shown but you know I don't want to tell you guys that you're going to see one thing and and you don't but uh I got to see more this time than I did a few years ago when I was learning more about biking and becoming a Daikin dealer. uh with an air? it's just you have? You have no idea.

The place is enormous and not only is it big, you know because I think a lot of folks are like well, oh, it's big and it's it. Must be wasteful and you know it's just monstrosity of a facility, not I think it's the other way around I think they've done a lot of the things they do to try to be as efficient as possible. very mindful of you know, or the energy consumption they only use. uh Ellie Whiting and I don't want to say anything untrue.

So I I shouldn't say only you, they're very uh very uh mindful of that and so they've helped me some Stats today about the factory and how you know how in the efficient it is and how they're very conscious of some of the things that they're doing and and so on. So it's been crazy. it's been, it's been quite a quite a quite a trip. so far we're going to be we're going to be doing a whole series.

Uh, on just this trip. So that's going to be coming up. launching in the next, you know, two to three weeks as soon as we can get some edited. Um, and we're gonna start rolling that stuff out to you guys.

Uh, we've got several videos ready to go. Uh, already. We've already kind of started working on them right from the get-go here. And so we, uh, we're gonna do a whole series just behind the scenes.

you know of the largest eating and air manufacturing facility in North America Cocker Lover says contractor here I need to shut down a 12 000 BTU mini split and remove it from the house we are working on. How do I disconnect the head from the compressor safely? Thanks for any suggestions. Um I mean I'm not sure. Uh, obviously you want to reclaim the refrigerant and then other than that, you're not gonna with many splits.
I don't try refrigerant. they don't hold very much refrigerant anyways. Well, I'll usually just do a reclaim and then obviously do a proper installation of the new location. So um, I don't know.

Hopefully that answers your question. Jay says thanks for answering, you're welcome Steve says You must recover if it doesn't have her pumping on feature. Yeah, with most of them, you need to splits I don't I can't think of a time I've ever tried to just pump them down I'm not saying it's impossible, it's just. uh, you know I know with some of them it is a bear if I'm being inverter systems and uh you know they hold so little refrigerant.

so Steve says worked in a local local Amazon it was 1.2 million square feet I don't know how many square feet This was um they told me I just don't remember um but it was a lot. um I remember one of the guys I met told me uh exactly how many square feet it was and that'll be in an upcoming video as well. So Nicholas says I like your air quality video a few weeks ago I hear mixed opinions on UV lights germicidal lights and do they work which filters most useful. So I don't understand this whole thing where people are like UV lights don't work.

uh don't work at what because I've seen them work I've seen uh in fact I told this story before um I became a Believer years ago when you know they started coming out and you know a couple of my co-workers thought they were snake oil and just something that is another thing you're gonna have to sell to somebody and um I'd started Griffin air and I had a customer that you know it was just one of those coils that you know it had the M old green M coils and no matter how hard you tried unless you were going to yank that entire coil out um which I know some guys do that Sometimes it's just one of those deals where we just could not get to every single nook and cranny of that coil. and there was some uh, black buildup and very deep crevices of that coil. and so I just I remember I told the guy about UV lights and he said yeah, let's put one in there and I went back six months later to do his maintenance and I I'm just I'm telling you I became a believer that day I I we um, you know the the coil was shiny as a nickel now was there maybe a little dust on there? Yeah, you know UV lights don't filter anything but it was very very Night and Day from the shape that coil was in. Uh, once we were able to, you know, put that UV light on there.

So here they work. I think it. I Guess it just depends on what you mean by do they work? You know, do they work at cleaning every particle of something in your home particulate floating through the air? Maybe not, but they do work very well. I had sanitation.

They wouldn't sell so many different types of UVC products out there that they do. They have uh UVC cleaning um Plumbing products and you know water cleaning and then also air cleaning products so you know it's hard to say and I don't understand when people say well, they don't work or I I don't know what to say to them um and then so which filters are most useful? We've done a lot of talks on. you know there are a lot of filters out there that um, one might be one. One example I can think of right off top my head is uh is electronic air filters.
and that is the the fact that some of these products become useless if not maintained properly. And I used to work for a guy that just simply did not believe in electronic or even electrostatic air filters because a lot of homeowners have this false expectation of what they're getting when they get those filters and and thinking that they're really cleaning that air well, um, and and it's not that they're not, they work really well when they're clean and and being maintained. and because of plain and simple, a lot of homeowners do not. And I say the majority of homeowners that I've come across that have electronic air filters, they do not maintain them like they should.

Because of that, the product is almost useless and so that's kind of been my 10 second commercial. Some of you guys have heard that on those before. uh, we at Griffin air we like just the four inch media filters. If we are looking for something a little higher Merv rating um, putting in a you know real um High you know, high-end filter from say a hardware store it could just Jam your static pressure through the roof and and really make it hard for a system to operate.

So we've always been a fan of the four inch media filters the ones that have a lot of surface area. If you were to stretch that media out, some of them could last up to 12 months and um, you know that's that's really what we like. So anyway and Nicholas does. Awesome! Thanks! You are welcome sir! So yeah, so if you have any questions there, um I'll go ahead and share a couple things.

We're getting close to eight o'clock so I'll share a few things with you guys. I uh I tell you we We arrived at the factory um yesterday. well we actually arrived in Houston on Sunday um but yesterday we did a short tour and then today we did quite quite an extensive tour of the factory. we um, we got to see some I told you guys earlier we we were.

we're told that we're the first uh, anybody that has recorded a few of the things that we recorded. Um, there was a story I was going to tell you guys I'm drawing a blank all of a sudden on which story I was going to tell you. um Uncle Fester says Google says the Daikin is the is 4.2 million square feet, third largest Factory in USA behind Tesla and Boeing that's what I've been told too. but um I was also told that that may not.

You know with with a lot of newer factories being built that you know it may not be the third third largest anymore that that used to be true. So I'm not really sure. um and again I Don't want to say anything inaccurate, but I think I am safe in saying that it's the largest heating and air Manufacturing uh Factory or facility in North America that that they are confident in. So um but what is what was the? there was a there was some a few things I was going to share with you guys.
Um I'll come back around to that John old hopefully I'm saying your name right there. Besides Daikin products, Are you aware of any other manufacturers that are planning to go with R32 It appears the majority of the market is planning to use R454b. Um, right now I am I am told that there is another main manufacturing company that uses R32 overseas and has not said which way they're gonna go yet. so it's another one of the big players in our industry.

Um, and so I'm supposed to learn more tomorrow about R32 Um and and you know the the future of that we did a video talking about you know which one it makes more sense and so on. I Do think that it should be included that R454b is a newer refrigerant and it's also a Um so it's It's got its pros and cons right and I think that the main con you know the main concern is it's untested. um so far. whereas R32 uh, in comparison, not that much higher of a Gwp rating and it's very much well tested.

It's used in thousands of homes across the globe. Um, and it's not a blend either. Um, so uh, and there's advantages in that. So um I I do hope to learn a little bit more about that tomorrow.

Uh, but I can't guarantee anything. So Nicholas says our air exchangers mandatory in new homes is that because of how airtight homes are compared to older homes? Um I think you're talking about ventilation and there are certain areas where ventilation is becoming more code because of how tight homes are being built. So I can't speak um to every nook and cranny of this nation. There are certain states that are more strict than others, and there are some states that it, um, there's at least one I can think of that.

I've been told that their codes are very, um, very behind. um, so you know I don't want to say something as a blanket statement to that as far as being mandatory, but um, but it definitely is a good idea, especially with newer, tighter homes. um, some having some sort of ventilation. I think a lot of folks are becoming more wise to you know, the harmful air that's inside their home and I think Kovid played a big role in that.

A lot of folks are more mindful of the air they're breathing, but just in general, if you have a tight home, it's kind of common sense. You know, getting fresh air dumped into that home in addition to all the other harmful things that are in your ear including Vocs that every home has. Um, you know, having that fresh air? uh, dilute that bad air? Um, it's it. It's kind of common sense.

You know it's it's. surprising to me how many heating and air guys don't at least whether whether they know how much or any of that, at least knowing you know that it should be done is half the battle, right? Jay says who would be the right person to call for an attic insulation with loose wires and all. Uh, so there are companies that specialize in that. Um, so I would recommend.
Uh, if you don't know, just off the top of your head a few. Insulation Companies uh I would recommend asking a neighbor is the first place I would start um and then I would also reach out to a few of the big contractors in your area and ask them if they know any. Insulation Companies they may be able to refer you to. you know, having someone else be your guinea pig? having a neighbor that has tried a few companies? If they can't tell you a good company, maybe they can at least tell you a company to stay away from.

Um and then Builders are the same way. You know if you've got a builder that has you know work. If you've got a builder that's worked with multiple companies and they say, well, you know I can't tell you who's good around here I haven't really found anybody good, but you know I can tell you to stay away from that company. don't don't call them and I can tell you why.

You know? maybe that'll save you a few headaches there. So um, that's just. that's where I would start is: is those two places Hazel hopefully I'm saying your name correctly Hazel Men yeah Hazel Hazel says I live in Florida hot afternoons, 1900s at home good attic insulation 2019 Rheem Unit model impact you Windows Doors old repair ducting How to keep home cool units stress less Uh I did a whole video on I believe I forget what it's entitled but it's it's basically. um, it goes through a few things you can do to try to help keep your home cool in addition to your air conditioning.

Um, let me see if I can find that video real quick. Bear with me. Just a second here. Um I think this one might be it.

Yeah, so I'm gonna put a link to this video in the chat. That video is entitled 10 Tips to lower Your electric bills Um and I talk about in That video a few things other than you know your air conditioning system itself that you might be able to um you know to look at or do to help. um you know, lower your bills and and also as you you put it, perfectly cool your home and and put less stress on that unit you know, um anything you can help that and uh, one of those it would be Solar Attic fans. Um, you know we've kind of already talked about.

and uh so in that video we talked a little bit about solar in addition a few other things. so check that out. Arch says would you recommend an R32 or r410 mini split I'm thinking that 410A 410 would be easier to find around here than R32 Art uh I Don't know if you're one of the states that R32 is currently available. if you're able to purchase products that are R32 um I know that there are only a few still currently.
Um, but if you are you you know can get our 32 system. I Do think that the answer to your question is actually going to be the other way around two years from now? Uh, you know, two to two to five years from now? Um, you know your comment is I'm thinking that 410 would be easier to find around here than R32. That may be true for now, but I Do believe five to you know, five ten years from now, especially it's gonna be the other way around. I think so Arch says hopefully you can find out if Daikin has plans for a fit type heat pump that is a replacement for rooftop package unit.

Arch I can't answer that question right now I can't answer that question right now. Uh, Nicholas says does HVAC usually get installed before Plumbing an electrician out of all the substrates should it be first? So that's a great question. We actually did a video on this exact topic Nicholas Um, probably about maybe a year ago, maybe two, but probably about a year ago. and um, I talked about this exact topic because there are a lot of homeowners that will act as the Uh contractor themselves, so they'll act like the general contractor and hire subcontractors to do work.

and I have been on jobs where they, well let me back up. I've been on jobs where even General Contractors have done this incorrectly in my opinion and so there is a correct way of going about this. believe it or not. And I think that you might find a few folks that will disagree with me on this.

Um, but usually most guys in our trade just the general rule. go by with what I'm about to tell you and so the answer to your question Usually and most houses exceptions every rule. but in most houses it's best for the plumber to come in and do his work. first second, us, the heating and air contractor, and then finally the electrician or gas.

uh, folks running gas if you're if you do have any sort of gas appliances in your home. and so there's really one main reason that that chronological order makes the most sense. And that is, it's easier for an electrician to kind of run his wire around a duct than it is the other way around. And so in general, usually most of the jobs that I've been on that if you have a really good Builder that knows what he's doing and is mindful of things.

Usually in my experience, the plumber has got to be first, then us and not there together. Owners should be able to come in and do his work in a certain amount of time, and then we come in and do our work in a certain amount of time and then finally the electrician. So if you got a builder that's trying to get a house built quicker than that, you're going to have problems if you're going to have contractors on top of one another. more times than not you.

I had a guy years ago. he had the electricians in there first. Why? Anyway, I'm not even going to bring up that whole story, but that was a that was quite the uh experience. We'll just say that.
so Hazel says Will new Will New addict Ducting help Will new addicting help? Um, it depends I Don't want to tell you that it could, it may or and it might not. Um, that is something that I will have to defer to your local. Pros get a couple opinions if you're not quite sure. if you're not like who's ready to get opinions of another you know or get as many opinions as as you think that you need to get to.

you know I think usually two or three opinions or more and uh, you know they may tell you that your ductwork does need to be replaced. Maybe it needs to be snazz better. Maybe it needs to be insulated better. Maybe there's a better material.

Um, and get a few. you know a few opinions there. So let's see Arch says if Daikin needs a test don't let me know. Yeah Arch I um I don't want to answer your question because I honestly don't know the answer to that question yet.

Although I will tell you uh I have I have asked I have asked and so far um I have not gotten the right person here. Okay so there's the answer for that. that question you asked there um uh we um Let's see we I did one Steve says tell about the barbecue I did have barbecue tonight. um but it was not as good.

uh as not all stands not all Texas barbecue is created equal I can tell you that um we um we've been eating uh really good since we've been out here. but yeah, y'all didn't Uh, you aren't tuning in to hear me. uh, talk about what I've been eating I don't think I'm a big fan of a lot of the food that's down here. I'll say that one of the uh, the appeals of uh coming down here.

So anyway, uh again, if you have any heat and air questions, drop those in the chat. um but I don't want to get into anything that I could get in trouble on. but um I uh I'll tell you this. I Met with a person today for on you know from Diagon and they are working on a few things.

um that in my mind are huge. uh that and it's everything is good for the homeowner that I have heard. um so they are very interested in not just making things better for the homeowner, figuring out ways to communicate why, it's better, right? So it's one thing to say. Well, you know we've got this new car and it's it.

You know it doesn't run on gas, it doesn't run electricity, It doesn't run on. It's not. It's not hydrogen, it's new way and it's way better than everything else. But if you can't figure out a way to communicate that to the end consumer, um, but it is better, you know.

So that's that's one of the things that you're up against with a few things that they they need to be able to make sure that you know they are. You know, transparent about that. and I think that's one of the reasons why they may have even had the film is to talk about some of those things and and have a way that you homeowners can learn and you know be more better Might be a better way to say that. So Nicholas says are there any cons to the rebates people are getting for upgrades or just Pros I mean I can't thank you Judy Collins rebates are always a good thing.
Uh, rebates as long as they're real rebates. You know, Legit. Um, decreasing of of a price, right? Because there are there is a such thing as sales gimmicks, right? If you've got a company that runs their price of a thousand dollars and then gives you a thousand dollar rebate, did you really get any savings there? And obviously the answer is no, So um, bear with me. Um, so yeah.

so I mean I like I can just I'm just thinking about some of the rebates that we offer with our company. They are, um, instant rebates. They're not a mail that's in, right? I Don't know if they even do that anymore, but I Remember years ago they would have these cell phones you would get. You'd get a 300 rebate and then you would mail it in to get your 300 back.

and then of course you'd either never hear back from them or you know, whatever. Um, now the rebates. We offer instant rebates and the reason they're offered as a rebate is because they are a legit rebate that may or may not expire at some point and so you know it's just always something you have to keep in mind. Uh, Brian's a real piece for Testo probes I I'm a field piece guy if that's what you're asking.

Um, you may disagree Brian but um I'm I'm starting I'm adding to my uh collection of Fieldpiece stuff because I've got that app that I can just put all the tools in there at one time and see everything going on real time. So Bruce says Josh is taking only ductless units or is it central AC as well is taking only Douglas units or is it central AC as well. Can you tell me a little bit more about the central AC units they sell? Um, or if you're talking about Nikon uh. the factory that I went to is mostly um, non-ducklist although they do make Vrv systems there.

so the Houston plant is mostly heat pumps, air conditioning units. uh that I can fit inverter systems, um, furnaces, um and then Vrv stuff and even some Light commercial stuff is made in that factory. Um, and so uh, can I tell you a little bit more about Central AC units they sell? Um, check out their website, you know they have some really good warranties on a lot of their products that's why we sell them, but unfortunately you got to make sure you have a good dealer area and that is something they're also working on. Is trying to expand to other new areas I didn't open up.

How fun of you guys have said finding a good dike and deal dealer in your area has been a little bit of a challenge and I think they are working on that. Uh, obviously the first step to that process of having a good supplier and that area. and also you know going from there finding some good contractors to to install the products and take care of the homeowners? Um, so um, other than that, um, you know they're they're Leading The Way with a lot of their inverter technology systems, the fit is pretty uh. capabilities the Eco the Daikin one ecosystem.
If you don't know what that is, look that up. That's pretty. Cutting Edge They got an air monitor they can give you real-time data on. uh, you know what the air in your home is.

Is it safe to breathe what? You know what can be done. It controls some of the components as far as adding humidity. uh, you know, circulating some air for some of the filtration and so on, air cleaning products, and so on. So um, watch some of my videos if you want more information about what they do.

In fact, I have a whole video. uh I believe it's called Breast Heating and Air Brand top 10 reasons or something like that. Um, Art says if I'm going to have a couple of Mini Splits installed should I should a good HVAC technician need help from electricians to make the connections at the outside electrical panel? Um, if you if Arizona is anything like Virginia where I'm located there are certain things that even if I know how to do it I'm actually do it air guys out there that will break that rule and they do all kinds of things they're not licensed to do. but you know we do everything as a you know at right and some of that sometimes that means going out and things and so we'll have the electrician pull us line voltage wiring and then we'll take it from there.

So Art says. Speaking of rebates, any news as to when the inflation reduction act when if purchased rebates are going to be available? Arch I'm told they are available. So checking with your local tax representative, your CPA or somebody like that, make sure that whatever you do is eligible. Um for you know, whatever part of that program you're trying to take advantage of.

but I know that or I've been told that certain parts of that program are available now. Brian says I love the range of Peace me too I've uh I've connected my gauges and gone back. It's funny you said that I was at a customer's house the other day. pressure as well I was going in and I had my probe I was checking and I was on my phone and the jackets I could see the lady just kind of see her looking at me and uh I I eventually I turned my phone to her I'm not over here texting somebody I'm I'm actually working I'm looking at some of the measurements on the tools outside so that I don't know I don't even know if that's what she thought but I was very insecure in that moment I was like I'm not here on my I'm not texting a friend um uh Bruce says products thank you Josh it was kind of hard to read I guess because I was in the car I was trying to say you got it right for Daikin I believe it is and thank you Well you're welcome.

You're welcome Biomed Live it says in Richmond Virginia so you're not far from where I actually live I'm in Houston today uh but I live about an hour to an hour but uh, he or she says in Richmond Virginia I have a 1465 square foot house with two ton 15 Seer ring I Had someone reputable HVAC company suggest that I installed register on the second floor of my two-story house. Nice. I'm not sure if there's a question there I'm sorry uh Ryan says any thoughts about the Daikin making products that connect directly to Fuller I'm seeing smaller companies make mini splits that work on both and Diesel at the same time seems like a good idea. um Ryan send me what you're talking about because I don't know of anybody that is specifically at least any of the big companies that are specifically making products that are you know met directly to your shoulder.
Now I don't know if that means that you know the solar panels are being. you know because they usually they have some sort of ATS automatic transfer switch and then you know the the products are to the whether it's a pain or throw panel or whatever. Um, but if they're going directly to some solar power so if you're saying directly to the panels themselves, I'm just not aware of that I'm not saying it doesn't exist, it's just not something that we see yet in. Virginia So um I did buy a uh I bought a little solar powered um panel that has these two like I I usually take them with our jet skis if I ever get a dead battery I can take that solar panel and take the two wires and go directly to our battery um and charge it So luckily I've never needed Hazel says I have a three foot wide fan installed in my garage ceiling I assume it's two below cool air into the attic I Haven't used it yet since moving in.

Fan motor being rebuilt. Does this help the Attic Um Usually if you're talking about what we call like a Whole House Fan Um so years ago when houses didn't have air conditioning, they would take these fans and install them towards the middle of the house and and we'd have customers to this day that still have them. You know you'll walk down their main hallway in their house and they'll have a um this hole right is you open all the windows in your house right before your bedtime. You click on that fan and it sucks all the heat out of the house.

and then you shut off the fan, close all the windows and you've got a cool house to go to bed too. And so it's kind of neat how they used to work. um, and that was kind of what they did there for a while. uh, especially pre, you know.

Central AC times you know and so I don't know if that's what you're talking about or if it's some sort of exhaust fan. It sounds like that's what you're talking about. But if that's some sort of exhaust fan then you know I I don't I don't know I mean I Can't say that. Usually usually things that are meant to cool down the attic in my experience are usually some sort of exalt.

They're going to pull that hot air out of that. They're not necessarily going to blow air into the Attic So that fan might actually be more for like what? I was just saying some sort of product to it actually cool the that area of your home, the garage or whatever it's meant to do there. So I don't know. Maybe you have something none of us.
Maybe you're cutting edge over there with that. Ryan says Residential Cold Climate Challenge How is Dykin doing? I've seen other companies complete the challenge. so Ryan I've got your questions I've I've honestly asked a couple while I'm here and um, I've got your questions with a few folks tomorrow that might be able to answer and and I'll try to bring that up. I'll try to remember um, and maybe bring that up.

So a lot of the stuff we've been focusing on are things that we actually want to put into a video. and I don't know that that's what what? that question that you're asking is going to make it into a video. but I do have it on your list that you sent me and I'm told that a few of the folks that I'm going to be meeting with tomorrow might be able to answer some of those questions. Um, anyway, we're going to be wrapping up soon guys, so if you do have any last minute questions, we we still have quite a few questions to get to.

but go ahead and get your questions in there. Arch says probably going to find a good electrician I've not found any IRA rebate rebate info here in Arizona so far, but we'll continue to look. Yeah, um again. I Want to check with your tax professional? not so much the contractors.

Um, you know the contractors you know just may simply not know about it. you know they're not tax Pros So I would go directly to whoever does your taxes. um or find someone that you know knows about that and and then they can give you guidelines on what you need to do and what products you need to stay towards. Um, before you, you know, go spending a lot of money.

You know Ryan says in 10 years do you see any non-inverter systems being offered? 10 years Maybe. But I think I think uh, you know it's coming and there will come a day. We're one of the only Nations left in the world that still likes our gas guzzling cars and uh, ducted, uh, non-inverter systems and um, and so you know I I think there there will come today that that is not the case. Um I Think that we could be there.

Now it it looks like you know because Daikin is working on doing solutions for homeowners to be able to get a nice, efficient, quiet, inverter communicating system like the diaper fit at a budget-friendly price. In some, in some cases you can, some of the rebates and other programs you can get fit for the same price or at least not much more than a you know, a single stage 16 Seer system and so um I've actually experienced that myself. So I'm not just saying that I've actually experienced that Ryan says Linux did it It only powered a condenser fan. Interesting I assume you're talking about the solar.

Dan Welcome to the show I don't think I've seen your name before, so welcome, good evening to you! My Train xr11 AC unit cycle then turns back on immediately for a few seconds and he has always done it. It's that normal operation. Weird. it's a normal cycle and it turns back on immediately.
Um I Think the answer question is it sounds a little out of the ordinary. um and it makes me wonder I don't know. This makes me wonder if there's something why you know. Like for example, there is something called an extended fan runtime.

So um, and I don't think that's what you're saying here. But but you know, bear with me here. there is something called an extended fan runtime where uh, if a system reaches temperature and the outdoor unit say shuts off so if you're in AC mode, it shuts off temperature and then that extended fan run time still continues to run that blower motor inside for a little bit longer and there's reasons you would do that. And heating and cooling mode.

Um, but what you're describing does sound out of the ordinary and um, and honestly, it could be hard from your components, especially if you have a single stage compressor. It is not meant to shut off and then immediately be turned back on so quickly. So if it's doing that, um, you know you're saying it's done that for a long time. So I I don't wish any bad things about your system.

but I can tell you that that could spell for disaster. uh, at least in certain situations. so just be aware of that. Gary says Josh Here's one for you: what HVAC system is in your room heat AC under window unit or window unit I'm not sure exactly what you're asking there, but I will tell you that in my house I've got a Goodman system that was there uh when I bought the house for upstairs and that will be probably replaced with a bit at some point.

um when that system goes kaput and um dealer and we were selling Bosch at the time and it's a Boston so we put a posture in our house uh, the downstairs and I don't hate it I do wish I would have gotten a dyke and fit. now you know communicating inverted system. um but I mean it does fine I've only had one issue with friends. called it and it's been in there for take care of it.

but I think we've had it in there for over five years Now five six years it's been in there. Ryan says I said smaller companies Brian says three cells. sorry guys I'm just trying to catch up here. Uh, Ryan says EG is a large player in the DIY solar business.

They started with backup batteries Arch says sounds like a fan like that would be great for Arizona to get the heat out of the house. We'd have a flat roof and no attic. Yeah, I mean it just I don't know how cool it gets in the evenings there in Arizona I've always thought of Arizona being this just this hot place. um in the Northern parts of Arizona I Still, you know us, us guys out in Virginia We still think it's just so out there.
Um, but if you have a an area that cools down, you know they do. They do work in some houses. Um so Bryant is the Linux unsourced? Um I'll have to look more into that. I'm having a hard time listening to you.

Sounds like a short wave fading in and out. Let me see if this makes a difference. Give me one second there Bob and tell me if this makes a difference. give me just a second here.

Um, you guys tell me if this makes any difference here, right? So this is. this is one. This is what I was doing and now tell me if this made any sort of difference, let me know if that made a difference and if it's any better. You probably hear some background noise more now, but maybe my voice sounds better.

Just let me know. Bob Ryan says nice. Look forward to videos coming soon. Brian says I think last year fed rebate was 2 000.

Hazel says you are extremely knowledgeable I appreciate you taking the time to answer our questions in detail and offer your opinions subscribing and we'll be in touch another day. Good night from Florida Thanks Hazel appreciate the kind words Brian says 30 Seer 100 solar unit. That's impressive. Very impressive Hazel says the sound is better now.

Okay, good, good, good, good, sorry guys I will keep that in mind in the future. Dan says it's hooked to an ecobee light thermostat. I Talked to a tax preparer but he was only familiar with the tax credit but not the IRA government rebates that are supposed to be offered when you purchase the new heat pump. Get another opinion.

I mean the inflation reduction Act Is it it's out there? You know it's not like I mean you could Google it so you know um Dan says yeah, that's what I was. That is what is worrying me thanks Gary says haha too funny Josh I meant your hotel room Biomed Lib says is placing a register on the second floor going to solve the problem of cold downstairs and hot upstairs I Never heard of this approach. Check out my video. Uh, biomedlib I Did a video? let me see if I can find it here real quick.

Boom! It's one of my zoning videos. Check out my videos on zoning where we talk about hot and cold upstairs and getting the ductwork right. Um, I'll give you a quick snapshot of that video, but definitely watch that video. Ultimately, let's say that that does fix your problem.

I'm not saying the contractor is wrong, but if he were to run another register and install it upstairs, um, heat still rises in the winter time and so you know if you dump more cool air now up there, it may solve your your problem for now. But then come the winter time and heat still rises, you now have more hot air being dumped up there. So you might have a zoning issue. Uh, not so much a um, duct work issue.

it just depends. Um, so just keep that in mind. Check out that video. I Go through some different scenarios and that might.

It's a couple zoning videos out there that I've done, so maybe you might have to watch too. I'm not because it, but it's the video. I Talk about whether it's a zoning or a ductwork issue. So check that out.
Arch says it cools off at night, but you can have a lot of heat inside of the AC isn't running talking about Arizona Weather dances. it's the wireless connection dropping packets. Sound is better. What did you change Josh I use stream yard and I cut off the noise cancellation is is what I did for the sound.

Hub Jeep says and I don't think I've seen your name on our show before Hub Jeep So welcome to the show! I Replaced my old three ton Central AC with a four ton Bosch unit heat in the winter but it isn't removing the humidity as well as the old system. I Thought it could run at a slow speed like a mini split Hub Jeep Check out my video on this exact topic I Talk exactly about um the Bosch humidity issues and some of the things you might be able to do to fix that problem. Um Bob says it definitely sounds better now. thank you, thank you Bob Hope Jeep says I'm in New York By the way Long Island Is there a way to run the unit at a low speed? There is a way to slow that speed and there's a way you can manipulate the refrigerant.

There's also a dip switch you can turn on to make the coil colder. There are several things that you can do to make that system dehumidify better. Now, it's not a communicating inverter system so there are limits, but there are things you can do to make it dehumidify better. So and finally Dan says Ah Nice.

Well that fixed audio is perfect now. Sorry guys I will keep that in mind in the future. Um, we are here live every Tuesday night at 8 30 p.m Eastern and then uh, you know right now I'm in Houston Texas so it's 7 30 Central Um but yeah I Appreciate you guys, appreciate all the support Again, we are going to be doing some videos coming up soon on the trip here that we are currently on uh, touring the largest heating and air manufacturing facility in the nation. Of course that is the Daikin Amana Goodman Factory here in Houston It's actually in a little town called Waller Texas and that was some of the stories that we got to hear today and and how they are.

They're not just located in this small town, they've tried to be a part of that small town. they've actually connected with some of the the schools in the area and trying to just do some nice things in the community. So that way the community doesn't look at this large Factory as a burden and and they look at it as it may be a good thing that has come to their area. So we're going to talk a little bit about that into some upcoming videos.

Check out that and uh again, we're going to wrap up in just a second. So if you, if you, uh, we're gonna, we're gonna. We've got two more questions I want to answer and we're gonna be done. So if you add any more questions after these two questions unfortunately, you're gonna have to wait till next week.
So Arch says you mentioned that a four ton could be adjusted. We have a three and a half ton rooftop unit, but new two-stage Daikin package units aren't available in a three and a half ton. You might have to go up to a four ton and just adjust the air speed. Arch So it doesn't mean that you can't still do the system.

uh Gary says safe travels Thanks pal! all for Wheels says airflow was weak and a Daikin installed last week in my home by a contractor just 45 minutes south of you in North Carolina I found they didn't hook up the yellow wire from the T-stat to the air handler I Am so sorry to hear that. Hopefully that was just a mistake. Um, and that was the only mistake because uh, you know you you want you want to. When you spend the kind of money that you guys are spending on some of these systems you uh, you, you don't want you know.

big mistakes, right? And so finally Arch says don't forget to find out if Goodman and Daikin heat pumps are the same package heat pumps. Okay all right guys, Thank you guys I Appreciate it. We'll see you guys next week Live Tuesday Night 8, 30 Eastern time and make it a great week. We'll see you then.
