If you've got a pool pump problem, you may actually be able to troubleshoot it yourself here are six common pool pump problems and how to fix them check it out problem number one: the pump isn't turning on or it's turning off while running. If your pump doesn't turn on or if it shuts off quickly after it's been started, it's probably an electrical problem check your breaker box for blown fuses then check your connections to make sure nothing is loose or damaged, and if you don't know what you're doing be Safe and hire a qualified electrician if your motor, overheats and shuts down after it started, it could be an overloaded circuit so make sure you've got the right voltage for your pump and check the motor's vents to make sure nothing is blocking the fan. If the motor shaft isn't rotating check to see if the motor is jammed with debris and finally, if the pump turns on but isn't running at full steam - and you hear a humming noise check, your capacitor, the capacitor starts your pump with a jolt of electricity, and This is one of those parts that are best replaced by our professionals. Problem number two, the pump runs, but it isn't pumping or the flow rate is low, and this means your pump needs to be primed because something has interrupted its suction or water flow.

It could be something blocking it: a dirty pool, filter or maybe too much air in the system. If there's something blocking your pump, suction check your filter gauge if it's 10 psi above the normal reading, check your filter. This will reduce the pressure and reset your pumps flow then check your pump basket and impeller for debris. If there's air in the system, it's probably coming through your skimmer or a leaky o-ring, so make sure that your smoke level isn't too low and check your skimmer basket for debris.

You may also need to fill your strainer basket with water and reseal. It we'll go over other types of air in the system later in this video and then finally, you probably then need to prime the pump to get it going again. Problem number three: the pump is leaking. If you have a leaky pump, look for any seals that need replacing like the o-rings in the impeller housing, the thread sealant or the shaft seal real quick before we continue.

Video problem number four: the pump is sucking in air and this can happen for a number of reasons: a loose pump, lid, a crack in the pump, a faulty thread, sealant, faulty o-rings and gaskets, an air leak in the suction line, a leaky valve stem or a Plumbing issue on the suction side of the pump, look for cracks, leaks or bad fittings and replace the part can't find the air leak. Well, you can actually spread shaving cream on those possible problem areas and, if there's a leak, it will actually suck in the shaving cream, leaving an indent.
As always, if you don't feel confident replacing a part yourself, please call a professional problem. Number five: the pump is making a lot of noise if your motor is really rattling. Your pull pump may just need better water flush, clear any blockages out of the plumbing line and look for air leaks. However, if your motor has a high pitch screech, your pump could have bad bearings, and in that case i would call a professional to take apart the motor and replace the bearings problem.

Number six. The pump basket isn't filling with water. The pump could be sucking in air or your filter or pump basket could be clogged so clean. The filter and pump basket then check the water level in your skimmer and, if that's low, that could be.

Your air problem then use the shaving cream test to check. For any other air leak in the end, if you're having issues or you don't feel confident doing something yourself, please be safe and call a professional, and if your pump is constantly leaking or losing suction or has low filter pressure gauge readings, it might just be time To get a new pump and that's it, those are the six tips for troubleshooting your pump. My Intex sand pump lever part sounds awful while on backwash, sounds like something is clanking around inside there, and the water pressure isn’t constant like it pulses, runs fine on all other settings. Or so it seems

my problem is that my pool pump starts fine but if I have to turn it off for any reason and then turn it back on it will just hum. Then I have to wait about 45 min for it to cool down before it will start again. It's been like this since I purchased it brand new two seasons ago. The local store wouldn't exchange it. It's a 230 volt US Motor 1.5 Horsepower.

Mine would not start, reset breaker it would run but over a month it took several breaker resets to get it started. Replaced capacitor and that fixed it.

I'm not sure if this is an uncommon pump problem: the diverter valves for the pool and spa mode keep cycling with the control panel(lights on the panel go on and off, in time with the valves moving). There is also a red flashing light next to the spa. Do you happen to know if this would be a pump issue or what kind of issue I am looking at?

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars TSSR PRONEY says:

I started to work with a pool company about 2 months ago and we do a lot of weekly services and liners, one questions I have is how phosphates appear in pools and what’s the best way to get rid of them?

Thank you so much for these short videos! They help immensely! I bought the course too.
One question: this video says to clean the impeller. Do I have to take the pump apart to clean it or is there another way to do it? I have dogs so I would bet fur gets wrapped around it. I haven’t had trouble yet but only had it for a couple months.
