Press fittings are another tool that we have access to if we need them, nobody is saying that you have to use them, personally I've had very good luck with them.

Got some Zoom lock Max fittings here. We're going to press these on, but we have a problem because this copper is engraved right here okay with the manufacturer's name and it says USA on there. That is a potential leak point and my O-ring is going to sit right in this range. and there's potential that that O-ring can sit just in the right spot where refrigerant can leak out underneath that O-ring Okay, so we got to make sure that we take some sandpaper, some abrasive cloth like this and we got to get that all cleaned up.
These little dimples. that was some of the engraving that's no longer there because I cleaned it up nice and neat. You can't really see it anymore I Deburred the inside and the outside of the pipe. so that way we're not going to damage our fitting when we slide it on and then we're just gonna We marked it with the depth gauge right? So you have a depth gauge in there, slide it in there and then now we can go ahead and crimp it.
Done!.
Dude you skipped over cleaning the copper. Done just took 20 mins to clean wow someone got a free tool.
Does that not change the diameter by sanding it down an d possibly causing a leak too
You know why a company would feel ok about engraving their pipe right? It's because they don't expect people to use zoom lock.
just one of many reasons not to use crimp fittings
Any tips for new HVACR technicians
Solder and braze don't care about any of this
press fit for refrigerant??? Ehh may work now not sure how long that will hold up. Brazing is so fast to do.
You techs are all falling behind by complaining about new technology that works…😊 Service area Nepean??
You can buy a really nice set of torches for what that crimping tool costs tho, and then all the dies. And expensive fittings, and then what about the outdoor service unit service valve connections etc.
Nice stuff but, $$$$ for that crimper. Best for leaking supply valves.
Compression /w o-ring doesn't care about stampings… there is potential this video is worthless Are you in Ottawa ?
Basically everything you have to do to sweat the copper together.
So what happens in 5 years when it starts leaking
IMO they are a disaster waiting to happen. O ring will go hard and brittle over time. I’ve heard some sites won’t let you use them.
Solder for me all day long, thanks. Are you in Orleans ?
the O ring is a leak point when it dries out and shrinks
Braze
left the chat
Youre using a push fit for refrigerant? Really? Trusting a fully sealed system to an o-ring.. jeez…. About ignorant.. Service area Kanata??
Wouldnt use press fit at all for refrigerantion.
Too much pressure and temp changes.
Pipe leaks work in mysterious ways ive had random pinholes in water pipes and ancient lead pipe joints that never leaked in almost 100 years.
So id like to take the pressfits out of the where is the leak equasion.
For residential water or gas they are totally fine.
I say this assuming you arent also a plumber now 😅
Or u can put on a shark bite. It’s the same freaking thing
Great teacher and explain how to fix it correctly!!!👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 Are you in Barrhaven ?
I don’t used it 😂😂😂
It wouldn’t have leaked
Wish I would see my guys using these 😂
Just trash 😂😂😂
Hey Boy! Back in my days we didn’t have a pro press Boy! We soldered like real men!
Just clean and braze. Sheesh.
Yeah I have a hard time justifying propress style fittings for gases either refrigerant or fossil. Water is fine though, it's a liquid and doesnt leak as much
Can't go wrong with solder
Junk, very little leaves will be left in service in 20 years.
What and cheat myself out of the chance of making a better braze than I made last time??…blasphemy!! Lol. ….
I suppose that method might have its place in a high fire risk or buildings that would otherwise require hot work permits….I’m old…..I’ll let the backback tool pouch gang deal with those new fangled gizmos. The countdown is on…the landing gear is starting to poke out. 🙏🏼🇺🇸👍🏼🔧🔨
Do a pressure test with the engraving, crimp it and see if it leaks, for science 🤔
Bending, fitting and brazing pipe is my favorite part of the trade. I will never use any of those garbage press fittings regardless of brand. To each their own I guess but it’s not for me
don't ever use that shit
Fittings for people cant do the real thing.
I understand this is the new thing but wouldn’t it be easier and quicker to just braze a piece on? 🤷🏻♂️
Max is so much better than rls. Are you in Kanata ?
I dont trust press-ons at refrigerant pressures.
Any rubber will deteriorate.
But your customers won't complain saving some (maybe) hundreds for later investing thousands.
Really? I thought the oring is malleable and fills the gap like nothing
Garbage, in my opinion , plus I enjoy brazing
I don't get all you old school minded dudes,"it'll leak" Solder and braze joints get replaced everyday because they leak ,you dumbfucks
U mean to tell me that on top of doing my job correctly, I gotta do job correctly 😅
The copper I get around here has ink labeling. Service area Orleans??
Just braze…I mean how else am I going to get my daily dose of vaporized metal fumes and occasionally phosgene gas!
Just braze that shit bro 😂
Press fitting copper is the last thing I would consider doing. I would trust PEX A before that.
now that is a tool
Brazing would have taken less time
Now you've reduced the OD of the pipe well below the standard. Just use a fresh piece without the engraving. Or salder the joint.
Sand it. Or just solder it Service area Ottawa??
If you cleaned the area enough to eliminate the engraving, don’t you think you changed the OD of that pipe ???
