I would argue that this is one of the most underrated tools that I have in my truck, and this is my spoilin BQ TeV kit. So this is the balance, part TeV kit and I can pretty much make a ton of expansion valves with it. We keep these on most of our trucks for our service guys. So that way we can build expansion valves out in the field and for the most part, we're never left.

Without you know a system that needs an expansion valve. You know this doesn't necessarily cover some of the OEM valves for like rtu units and stuff, because this is mainly a refrigeration tool for me, but you can buy other cartridges and different things. Okay, so this one right here, essentially you've got your bodies right here. I keep a couple Flair.

I keep a car. Actually, this one's, not a flair, because I have a sweat body in there, but I crossed it out. I keep you know just different styles of bodies that I might use different power heads my for or for power heads my 134, a 130 for a low temp r22 low temp, which I really don't even know why I have that power heading here. If I need to take that out, because they're not running into our 22 low temp stuff anymore, our 22 medium temp, so yeah we can do quite a bit.

So in here I've got you know, and these this can also work for our 12. So our 12 134 502 404. I have a few 502 systems out there, but for the most part, I've converted them all over to four four and then our 22. Obviously, so, essentially you just pick the body that you want follow that little diagram up in there.

Okay, so in my instance, I'm going to be using the s BQE body on the far right hand, side externally, equalized, right angle, with a removable strainer. So we can find my s BQE body, then what we do is you pick your power head, so we're gon na be doing a medium temp for o4a. So we got a power head right here and then you pick your cartridge. So what we're going to be dealing with is a 404 a you follow it down.

You find your tonnage that you need, so I'm going to need a time cartridge, so we're gon na go with an a cartridge or the blue cartridge. So I happen to have a blue right here, but I'll show you guys inside this kit. We keep all of our cartridges and it's really really important that you, you pay attention and you make sure you put these little indicators. You hang them on the powerhead and I'll show you guys how to do that.

So that way, the next guy knows what cartridge is in there without having to pull the valve apart. So you know you can see we keep all the different color cartridges in here. Obviously I use red, blue and yellow the most so yeah. This is a I have to say.

This is probably one of the most valuable tools in my truck. This thing has saved my butt on so many different instances when you need an expansion valve in the middle of the night on a walk-in cooler, walk-in freezer, whatever you're working on. I happen to have replacement ones in here, but normally I would say, put an X on these, so you know you need to replace them when you go to the supply house, but I have new ones. So I'm gon na go ahead and fill up.

My kit, with the new ones close it up, we can use it to assemble the valve, so here's our components go to cartridge blue, a little tag, powerhead body, okay. So what we're gon na? Do you don't take the valve? Apart at all, the valve comes preassembled, everything's good. Take your cartridge and you're going to put a little lubricating oil on there usually use refrigeration oil, I'm just going to use the slightest bit of nylon and just getting it on the seal. That's all you're doing just wan na make sure you have a nice lubricated seal.

What's going in, there place that down in there and thread it in by hand once you get it to the point, you can't go any further, but and take your adjustable ranch crescent wrench, whatever they actually make a tool for this. That comes with the kit, but I've since lost it. It's a little. You do not want to over.

Tighten these okay, just snug them down. That's it snug it down. You've got nice and tight, and then I prefer to place just a slightest bit of nylon right on the seal or on the edge right here hand, tighten this power head okay and then again you do not want to over-tighten this we're gon na tighten this power Head on okay, this is tight and then most important. Well, one of the more important things we need to do is we need to put this little tag on here so that way the next guy knows that this is a half to one ton, balance port expansion valve.

So it's got an a tag on it and that just kind of bends and hangs on there and stays there permanently. So now we have got our expansion valve okay, so the spoilin b q te v kit. I think it's a great great tool that I personally have kept inside my service trucks with my other technicians, also for several years now: okay, they save us a lot of time and give us the ability to stay on the job and just build the expansion valve That we need on site instead of having to go to a supply house where it really really comes into play and really becomes beneficials in the middle of the night. If you do any work for walk-in refrigeration, coolers, freezers, whatever it is, you'll find that sometimes you get an emergency service call and you have to go out in the middle of the night and you may have to open up a supply house.

Well, if you've got the B Q kit, you can pretty much build almost any expansion valve in your truck. It's a great great tool.
