This video is brought to you by Sportland Quality, Integrity and tradition. We got a call that the wing cooler is too warm. Let's go inside. So this is what I would call like a hybrid freezer.

They want to maintain 28 to 32 inside this box and their complaint is that it says 45 on the outside. but I'm going to be honest with you. when I came in here, it doesn't feel like 45 but we're still going to go through everything I Have a feeling that the therometer on the outside's not reading accurately and they really should have a thermometer in here too. So first thing we're going to do is go get a thermometer, figure out what the accurate temperature is in here, and then proceed with caution.

Now, even if we find that it's just a bad digital thermometer on the outside, we're here. We're still going to Big Picture This and give them a you know look at everything and see what's going on. All right, here's the deal. My thermometer like I thought is reading the right correct temperature inside the box 28 I Went back here.

This was shoved all the way into the wall and pushed up against the box right here and it wasn't reading the accurate temperature once I pulled out the slack and moved it up to here. It's now reading the right temperature and I'll show you guys a picture. So with that being said, we are maintaining the proper temperatures inside this box 27 in the return air temp. But we're not going to stop there.

We're still going to go through the system we're going to. We're here. I'm already noticing a few things. so we're going to get onto the roof and have a look and see what's going on up there.

All right. This is my condensing unit for this guy. years and years and years ago. I Had a compressor change out on this.

Um, someone left this right here. They just did a roof here. Well do look like they did an amazing job. and then this is also location where they just got two new ACS and then they changed one of the wrong units.

They were only supposed to change this one and then that one over there and they changed this one and that one and never changed that one that still has a giant hole in the condenser. but that's a problem for someone else, right? Or me in the summertime. Um, still kind of funny. Like we tried to patch the Micr channel, but for the heck of us just to get them going it.

it wasn't a very good patch like we got it, but it wasn't great and so it got them through the summer. But still, they need a whole new condenser cuz one of the condenser fan blades broke and just jammed right into the middle of the Micr channel and dump the charge in the middle of the summer. So we got him going. like I said we patched.

it wasn't the greatest, we told him to replace It it. got him through the summer and whatever. but then they had someone else replace them and yeah it is what it is I Don't care but um they just came and did a whole repair on this roof and then coated it. Now it's a giant slip Fest up here.
but it's not the TP roof. it's just normal asphalt that's painted white. Kind of silly, but regardless, this is my unit right here. Uh I'll check that out.

So one condenser fan motor is running. one is not. You got a bad condenser fan motor. uh.

currently at the moment the sight glass is flashing. so again you know downstairs it look like it was almost a nuisance call because all I had to do is move the the probe. But big picture stuff. We come up here and we look at everything so we're going to get the top off and go through the whole unit and see what's going on with it.

All right. Compressor is running, it's got a nice cold suction again. Cy glass is still flashing which isn't a good sign. Uh, this guy does not have any fan cycle controls so this blade right here is locked up.

It's not spinning now. Yes, that is an energized motor. It is red hot. Yes! I am sticking my finger in there again.

You know you got to be careful so you can see it's trying to start but it just doesn't have it So we got a bad condenser fan motor. I'm going to talk to the customer about that. Um, I'm going to highly suggest they let me change them both. Uh, this is the location I've talked about a lot and you pretty much have to change these motors once a year.

In fact, I can hear a motor across the roof going bad which is going to be the Testament to not wearing headphones when you're on the roof I Say this all the time unless you need them for hearing protection. don't because you can hear things across the roof and I can hear a condenser fan motor. So let's walk over here. I'll see I think it might have shut off by now cycled off I'll wait till it turns back on and we'll go over and look at it.

Oh wait, maybe I hear it. Let's go over there. let's see. Yep, I can hear it.

Let's move over here. This roof is so slippery right now. Look at the filter. Changers They put inside air filters in the outdoor air unit.

That's just silly. You guys hear that sound. Got a motor that's got bad bearings? Looks like it's iced up too. Yeah, they got some problems.

but yeah, they got a motor problem in this so we'll bring that up to them too. But right now my priority is the wing walking. I'll tell you this: Qui Equipment is a very good candidate for replacement this condenser and I am going to talk to the customer about that, but this condenser is shot like it's just smooshing down right here like it's a little dirty. Definitely needs to be clean too, but this is some old equipment.

Um, looking in here let's see the defrost clock seems to have the right time on it. It's currently about 12:40 it says about 1. That's pretty darn close. So um, it's definitely a dumpster fire as far as the wiring goes.

But all right. Well, so far the unit had a bad, uh door. Well, the door temperature sensor alarm arm was reading inaccurate temperatures and the manager was using that to diagnose or to you know, evaluate his box temps when in reality he should only use that as a gauge and then go inside and confirm with a second thermometer. And actually I think health code says that they have to have a second thermometer inside.
Regardless, it just so happened that he called me because just the door was saying it was warm. I walk in and it and it felt like it was cold enough to me. So I put my thermometer in there and found it was and then found that the sensor was shoved up and smashed by a box and once I pulled it out and put it up in the air. it's reading the right temps.

but big picture stuff right? So we come up here we find a condenser fan blade or condenser fan motor that's not working. That's bad flashing sight glass. So at a minimum, we're going to change the condenser fan motor. I'll talk him into letting me do the second one to be safe.

we'll clean the condenser, we'll top off the charge, possibly look for a leak, but judging by the age of this equipment and the shape of it, it's time for them to start considering replacement. Now, Also, when I say that it's not just because it's old, this equipment can be saved and it can operate for years to come. This is a very proactive customer that doesn't like to dump a lot of unnecessary money into their equipment. Um, I'm going to put fan motors in it and not give them the option about that because I don't want to have to come back multiple times in the process of them ordering equipment, but they actually order their own equipment and they'll just be like change it and then ship equipment to me without even asking me.

So I'm going to put fan motors in and I'm going to go down, talk to the manager and let him know what we're doing. but the fan motors are just going to get us by because I don't want this equipment to crap out in the meantime and we have to come out multiple times. And then also, we'll clean the condenser and like I said, we'll top off the charge. At this point, we'll look for a quick leak, make sure it's nothing major, and then you know go from there for now.

Went ahead and pulled both condenser fan motors and Blades out so that way I could access the back side of the condenser. This is a Micr channel condenser so when you clean it, first off, the water goes through it really easily so so it'll just saturate a motor as opposed to a tubin fin where it takes a little bit more effort to get the water through it. Um, next thing is, you have to consider that it's a Micr channel. When you're applying cleaners to the coils too, you Have to use Micr Channel Safe Cleaners.

If you use the blue cleaners, they're usually brighteners those sometimes you got to do what you got to do if it's grease right, but those um will, etch the coil and just disintegrate the aluminum and make it not last very long at all. So always want to use aluminum safe cleaners for me. I'm going to use the Viper coil cleaner the aerosol now. normally I say let's grab the yellow HD cleaner or the yellow Venom pack because it's the same thing as this without the aerosol.
but I looked at all the other coils and they're not dirty so this is the only one. I don't think I need to go mix a bottle when I can just use one can and be good. So we're going to rinse from the inside out. Then we'll apply the aerosol cleaner on both sides, then we'll rinse and then we'll proceed.

I talk to the customer with replacing both condenser fan motors and then the also gave me the approval. They're going to put in a work order for that walk-in freezer condenser that's chirping and we're going to change both the condenser fan motors on that also. All right. again in perfect world.

You clean from the inside out and look it. look at what's coming out. pure mud now. They also just had a bunch of roofers up here doing a lot of work so that got everything dirty.

but still. they don't do routine maintenance here so it gets pretty nasty and uh, we're just going to take our time going through cleaning it all and then we'll apply the necessary cleaner and let that work. Its degreasing magic, but we're going to get as much out as we can with just regular water first. I guess I Also need to be careful cuz that water was going right into that roof vent right there.

which is kind of a silly location, but oh well. All right, so we're just going to spray some from both sides. get it in there, let it sit again. aluminum safe so it's not going to hurt a single thing.

just let it penetrate all in there and again. the the the magic with this is to let it sit 5 6 minutes, let it start breaking down down some of the dirts and the greases and stuff and then uh, like I said I'll apply it from the inside out too, just to be 100% sure and then we'll rinse. It always surprises me because no matter which side you spray it from, it pulls dirt out. So when I sprayed it from this side, it's pulling the dirt out.

It's It's crazy because it's kind of counterintuitive. You think it's going to push the dirt out, but no. Now this side's a little bit cleaner because that motor has been bad for a long time. and this side, and that's a perfect example.

This side has been running. its harder because it's cool outside and it's you know, winter time essentially cuz it's February Um, you know it doesn't need that much. So it basically is essentially um, defeating the purpose of the head pressure control valve because it's artificially raising the head pressure by turning off one condenser fan motor. But it's because it was bad, right? So we're going to let this sit for a minute longer and then we'll give it a good rinse.

So let's discuss head pressure. What's the importance of head pressure? Well, head pressure. You don't want it to be too high, but which you also don't want it to be too low. Um, in situations like this, we will use a head pressure control valve.
that valve. right there to artificially I Guess not even artificially is the right word, but to uh, raise the head pressure and it's really there just to maintain a certain pressure differential across the thermostatic expansion valve. This system needs a certain pressure differential for the thermostatic expansion valve to properly work. and without that pressure differential, the expansion valve itself will still feed, but it can lose control and kind of erratically feed.

Um, and like I said, you don't want the head pressure too high, but you don't want it too low. so there's actually a small window. Um, and most of the expansion valves are sized assuming it's going to have a certain liquid pressure or liquid temperature. And with that being said, if it's too low and we're not, you know we're running way too low of head pressure, then we theoretically could lose control of our expansion valve and that can cause some issues.

So this guy is looking pretty good again. It doesn't have to be shiny clean, but you can kind of see how it's like kind of getting damaged a little bit right there. Um, that's probably from the roofer scraping some stuff too, but it's kind of weak. It's kind of hard to explain, but I can tell that the condenser is a little weak, but we're going to do our best.

I'll give it one more rinse and then I'm going to rinse out the condensing unit area down there. Um, that's another cool use of this stuff. I'll show you is just spray down everything that you know and it'll help to degrease a little bit more just carefully. kind of spray everything down with the aerosol cleaner and then you can rinse it all off.

It's not going to be perfect and I did the same thing with the condenser family cuz I'm changing them both. It's not going to hurt, just go to town. give them a quick little rinse I sprayed them down. they're not going to be perfect.

but I don't care about these motors cuz I got two new Motors right there right? so make your life easy, try to make it a little cleaner and then we'll get this guy rined out too and you can see I'm I'm careful the way I'm spraying. but I mean you know, quickly? get the pressure control wet. I'm controlling it. Obviously you know you're taking a risk, but I'm not going to scrub or anything but just giving it a quick little rinse, quick little rinse, and then just make it a little bit cleaner in here for the next guy and for yourself, right? You know when I say that, make it easier for the next guy selfishly I Hope the next guy is myself, but if it's not and it is someone else, at least they don't have any bad stuff to say about me.

or at least it won't be the cleanliness. I'm sure there's lots of bad things to say about me if you know what I mean before you put your hose away, clean the area you're working in that way you're not laying in dirt next time, right? and then also when you wash a coil, that dirt comes off the coil, it dries and then it gets sucked right back up onto the condenser. So carefully, just clean the area and then it's a little bit cleaner for me when I have to lay down and change all the motors and everything and you can see all the stuff that I just washed out of that coil is all running that way now. Went ahead and just, uh, very carefully took the steel bristle brush.
Some of the Viper cleaner used the rest of it, got them kind of cleaned up. They're not absolutely perfect, but they're better than they were. They had so much dirt that that dirt theoretically could have been adding to weight, which theoretically could have, uh, created more issues with the bearings in the motor. Motors So, but in all reality, here, they just go through Motors every year because of all the sand.

It's just kind of silly. but yeah, they turned out pretty darn good little bit of stuff here and there, but again, it doesn't have to be perfect. Another thing to think about too is sometimes when you're cleaning them, you can bend them so that's why you got to be a little careful not to scrub too hard. The slightest bit throws these things out of balance and that also causes bearing issues.

So for all right, I Know I Know everybody is going to come up here and when they come to work on this, they're going to cut their femoral artery and they're going to die because I didn't use a flush cut. I'm being sarcastic because you'd be amazed at the amount of criticism I get because I don't use flush cuts to cut my zip ties. It's another thing I don't need in my tool bag. Um, just be careful.

when you're around zip ties. That's it. All right. It's not ideal.

it doesn't look perfect, but it's functional. Um, it's not going to rub out. nothing's going to touch. We're ready to go.

should be spinning the right direction. Fan blades are where they're supposed to be I should theoretically be able to turn this on and nothing should blow up. one two, 3. Please don't blow up.

What do you know? So we're going to let it run for a few minutes and then uh, we're going to. oh see, we're pulling water off the condenser right now. That's okay I forgot to blow that thing out, but it's all right. Um, we're going to let it run for a bit and then uh, we're going to test current on the motors and the other thing too is, once we get this thing running, we may find that we actually don't have an issue with the sight glass.

Um, so we'll see. We needed both K fan motors moving air properly for it to. uh, you know, let us know whether or not we had a Clear Sight glass or not. So we'll give it some time and see what happens.
All right, my sight glass is not clearing up. Um, so we'll give it a few more minutes. But let's talk about the wiring schematic on this. So we used a 208 volt motor.

You can wire it for 230 orange and black, get wire nutted together. yellow gets capped off brown and white or brown and white and then Brown go to the cap and then white and purple are your line one and line two. So white and purple are both going into a triple wo with power from these two guys right here powering them and then everything El is capped off accordingly like they want us to. We're grounded.

Everything looks good, so uh, let it run for a few more minutes and I'm going to go get some gauges. go look at the coil. I Didn't see any ice in there, but I'm going to open up the expansion valve section just to make sure because we don't want to add gas until we know there's no ice on the expansion valve or anything. but uh, yeah, I Think we're probably going to have to add some gas to this guy, clear up that sight glass, and then go from there.

All right now. at this point, um, the head pressure control valve I believe is going to bypass at 180 80. Let's see without getting my hand in here. Yeah, it's currently starting to bypass because the liquid drain coming out the bottom of the condenser is cool and you've got discharge gas here I Don't know it may or may not be bypassing.

it's right there. But bottom line: we need extra refrigerant the flooded charge for the head pressure control valve when it bypasses for it to work properly. So we need to add some gas into this guy. And like I said, we're definitely going to do a leak search on it too.

but we're going to get gas and get it running. Um, suction pressure is a little bit low so I'm going to go down and look at that. TXV Head pressures Yeah, I don't know. Let's see outdoor Air 70 I mean 12 temperature rise or TD across the condenser.

That's a little on the low side, but Micr channels are pretty efficient, but we again are still a little undercharge. so let's go down and look at that TXV Real quick and grab some refrigerant. Get here in the coil and I'm looking for signs of maybe the strainer being plugged or anything weird frosting patterns. We're not seeing any of that.

So I think we're okay and what we're going to do is we're going to, uh, go ahead and proceed with topping off the charge. Doesn't look like anybody's really messed with the control either. So yeah, we'll watch this thing a little bit longer and top off the charge on it. Let's look in here.

There might be something as far as oil up in here, but it's not going to be anything we're going to fix cuz this coil, like I said, is trashed. This whole setup's all old and Antiquated and the customer isn't going to want it. It's a little. Dusty I Wouldn't say it's plugged or anything.

Pretty confident it's letting air move through, but it could use a good cleaning. But the whole bottom of the coil is completely corroded too, so it's just time. So like I said, we'll top off the charge real quick. There's a lot of things we need to consider.
I'm you know, using my judgment based on, um, past experience assuming that the strainer is not plugged up. I'm really the only person working on this equipment. I'm not seeing any signs that the strainer can be plugged up. Um, definitely.

if you're not confident, put your gauges on there. check superheat, see how the valves working. Same thing up here. I Did a quick temp check across the dryer with my hands.

Now if you can't feel it, if you don't feel confident, do a temperature check with a clamp right? We've got a flashing sight glass. We're above the bypass pressure of 180 PSI I'm going to go ahead and add some 404 to the system. I've already purged everything and uh, we're paying attention on the scale. We're looking for a Clear Sight glass and then once it clears I don't think it's going to take much.

We got to add the flooded charge which on a Micr channel is very minimal and I'll look it up real quick. We have cleared our sight glass. big Sportland seat all nice and clear. We are above the bypass pressure of the head pressure control valve which is 180 PSI it's not bypassing I Downloaded the manual.

The manual says 2 lb flooded charge so two extra pounds of refrigerant is what we need to add to the system after we've cleared the Side Glass We're currently at about 1.2 so we'll add a little more refrigerant and then hopefully be done with this guy and then talk to the customer about a league search. We're getting closer and closer to overtime, so I don't think they're going to want me to really go digging into it. It was only a pound uh, three lb short I guess of probably a 14lb charge. So I don't think uh, it's going to be like anything giant.

now. this is actually zip tied but they're going to have to be careful putting the boxes here. The other thing is this is discharge air temp so that's going to kind of give them some false readings, but they'll still stack them here and they'll still break it and do all their stuff. but box is pretty much down to Temp I'm just going to watch it satisfy.

All right. Well, it satisfied. that's a good sign. Um, still got to go down and make sure it turns on and off at the right temperature cuz they're very specific about where their temperatures are at.

So I'm going to put finish assembling the unit and then we'll head down there and then watch it cycle back on. Currently graphing the temperature, watching it turn on and turn off. I think I'm going to have to make a temperature adjustment more than likely cuz they want 28 to 32 and uh, looks like maybe oh no. I don't think it's running yet so we'll see.

but I'm also comparing it to what their thermometer says too. Fresh off my trip just getting home from Florida in the Orlando area. Uh, I was at the Hvacr training Symposium at the Kalos offices actually specifically in Claremont Florida and it was an amazing time. Um, stay tuned.
I'm I'm currently in the midst of riding an article opinion piece or whatever you want to call about my experience. Uh, it was an interesting experience to say the least. Um, amazing to be honest with you. So uh, what a great time and stay tuned.

You'll see my work. Uh, it'll pop up on Facebook and all the different platforms. Uh, with my opinions and stuff it's you know I didn't I I When I went to the Symposium it was. it was just a personal trip.

I didn't really film much I didn't really do much videos anything other than interact with some amazing people and it was a good time. It really was. It was just amazing. So on to this video.

Um, this was a service call at a customer of mine and I've done some work on it before. Uh, hybrid walk-in freezer is what I call it just because they maintain right at about 32 de just a little different. Usually in a Walkin freezer it's like -10 right? Um, now this particular customer, like I mentioned, this equipment's in pretty bad shape. Uh, you know I can certainly fix it I Can certainly search down leaks, but this customer really doesn't want to do a whole lot of that.

Uh, this. this equipment has aged itself out. Uh, we put a compressor in it I don't know 3 4 years ago, something like that. and then we've done condenser fan motors every year.

Uh, we put in two more condenser fan motors. today. we topped off the charge again. Uh, the condenser coil starting to deteriorate, the evaporator coils smashed and deteriorated.

I Mean it's just plain and simply time, right? So I gave the customer the information I'm waiting for them to make the decision on what they want to do, but at this point I had to get it up and running right? So I did a quick, fast and dirty Leak search. Uh, didn't show that on video but you know nothing. you know. Crazy going on? Um, really didn't pick up much? Uh, you know.

but again, I was just looking for big stuff right? Um, we evaluate things when we're working on it. Uh, I noticed that you know it only took 3 lbs of gas a pound to clear the sight glass and then the extra 2 pounds for the flooded charge. and you know that really wasn't that bad considering how much gas now. I did mention that it potentially took about 14 pounds.

Uh, not for this condensing unit the next size up that has the bigger receivers like a 14 pound receiver. I think this one's a 9B receiver if I remember right I can just tell by the looks of them just because I've worked on enough of them, but still I'm not too too concerned about that. Um, we got the unit up and running but the initial call was the customer said it was not maintaining the right temperatures and he was looking simply at the door thermometer SL alarm unit right and when I got there I walked in and I could see my breath and it felt cold in there and I was like wait a minute. So you know I put my thermometers in there.
found that my thermometer was reading the right temperature inside the box. it's just their door/ wall thermometer was off because the someone had shoved the sensor wire into a really bad place and it just wasn't getting an accurate reading and something I didn't mention in the video was the door wasn't closing because the door closer needed to be adjusted so if someone opened the door it would stay open. That warm air would pull in right to that sensor caus to read High temps. But we don't just stop there right? I Went through everything, we give it a big picture diagnosis.

So I went onto the roof because there's nothing worse than me going out there saying it's working fine and then you know we have a warm day and they call me back a week from now saying it's still not working again. You know and it's like, well, but I you know, trying to convince them otherwise. it just doesn't work. Um, so you know We go through everything and I found that they actually had a bad condenser fan motor on the roof.

It was actually low on charge, so we went through and we took care of those issues. We cleaned up the condenser, changed both condenser fan motors proactively, and went ahead and topped off the charge. Didn't find any major leaks now. I did mention in the video that the customer approved me to change the condenser fan motors on the walk-in freezer I Ran out of time to do that so we will be going back for sure.

We will follow up on the hybrid cooler uh, Slf freezer. uh because I did make some temperature adjustments I I adjusted it just a little bit warmer so I want to make sure it's like right in line where they want it. so we'll definitely check on that when we go back to to change the condenser veters on the walk-in freezer. I Can't stress this enough and I talk about this quite often.

when you are working on a roof. Don't wear your headphones unless you need them for hearing protection. Don't wear them because there's so much valuable information you can hear on that roof. I'm out there and I saved myself an emergency service call on their walk-in freezer because I could hear a condenser fan motor chirping where it's about to lock up.

We're going to, we're we're in February right now, but before we know it will be getting into warm weather and that potentially would be the worst case scenario Friday Night late Saturday Night service call or even a Monday night service call at you know, 11:00 at night and I have to drive all the way out to that location an hour and a half from my you know shop and to change a condenser fan motor when I'm on the roof today I could hear it chirping I Bring it to the manager's attention now. I didn't get it done today but I went ahead and uh, brought it to their attention so hopefully we're going to take care of it before it becomes an emergency service call And that all happened because I was using my senses when I went on the roof I was not there to work on the walk-in freezer I was only there to work on the hybrid meat cooler, right? but I could hear things from across the roof. That's why I say don't wear headphones on the roof. Don't turn your music up really loud unless you need it for hearing protection kind of a thing, right? Because you can do so much when you're on there.
Remember something, you know I Think people get caught up in this idea that they're owed something When you're on the roof, when you're working, you're working, you're not there to put your headphones on and you know, listen to whatever. While you're not paying attention to your surroundings, you got to think you will make yourself look like that much better of a technician to your company. If while on the roof you mention hey, I could hear a fan motor going out you know or hey I found this and I found this and I brought it to the manager's attention And then potentially you generate more work ethically for your company and you keep other people busy or yourself busy. Remember, you know people to get caught up in this idea that you you need to try to steal time or you know, come on like for real.

If you don't like your job, move on to something different. If you do like your job, do it correctly and do it. You know with passion. be up on the roof and find things for your company that will make you a better technician that will make you more valuable to your company.

you know and that will make you more valuable to the customer. Hey I was on your roof I noticed I could hear this I know I'm not here to work on it but that potentially could be an emergency service call later. would you like to put in a service call? Now you know we may or may not get to it today. That's what I told them and you know they did and it's like okay there we go, we're we're preventing hopefully an emergency service call and we're trying to get ahead of the game before it becomes a 911 emergency.

Forbid the health department walks in and that one particular day where they don't do temp checks and the walkin freezer is at 40 and it's all because a condenser fan motor that you could have found when you there previously. there's a lot of of like push out there in the industry to try to steal time from your company to try to do whatever you can to milk the clock. That's not doing anybody a service but making you an extra dollar today. but it's not going to make you an extra dollar tomorrow.

What's going to make you an extra dollar tomorrow is you being valuable to your company, you being valuable to the customer. Okay I'm going to end my rant right here: I Really appreciate you making it to the end of the video. If you haven't already, please consider consider subscribing to my YouTube channel. Um, couple different ways to support the channel if you're interested in doing so.
Okay, the easiest way is watch the videos from beginning to end. That really is the easiest way. Um, if you want to go to True Tech Tools.com and you find some tools that you like, you can use my offer code Big Picture. that's one word, Big picture and uh, if you use my offer code on majority of the items on the website, you'll get an 8% discount and when you do that I get a small commission so that's another great way to help support the channel.

You can also support my channel via Patreon PayPal and YouTube channel memberships of which there's links in the show notes of this video right now. And last but not least, you can go to my website Hvacr Videos.com and we have merchandise available right now. We currently are trying to clear out the zipup hoodie sweatshirts that I have on there, so we basically are just liquidating them. We dro the price from in the 40s all the way down to $25 That's essentially probably not even covering my costs on the sweaters, but I'm just trying to clear them out because my wife wants her garage back.

so we dropped the price. uh with shipping included in the United States to $25 Um, help support the channel, Grab a zipup hoodie. They really are nice hoodies. Um, but there's also hats, beanies, sweatshirts, stickers, all that good stuff available on the website.

So thank you so very much! I Really do appreciate you and uh, we will catch you on the next one.

I super agree about the idea of becoming a valuable employee. Finding work and building good, reliable relationships with customers is very important! Much more than stealing a few hours a week. That’s a hard lesson to learn and a hard lesson to teach! At least in my opinion. Great video as always!

I found that particular company to be good to work with. It is interesting that they keep the chicken wings at that temp but they do go through it quickly at that. Don't get me started on Supper Bowl weekends. I also ran into the same issues with the sensors being placed there and the loaders/kids putting boxes over the sensors or even worst ripping it right out of the door control. When ever I was given the parts to replace the control with the long cable, I would run the sensor to the back of the coil to get it sensing better and explained it to the managers on that.

That's saying a lot about someone who doesn't like to invest in their equipment if they don't like to dump a lot of money into it and just love getting by which is totally fine for me for refrigerator or Heating and Cooling or whatever I'm going straight for heat pump like a Mitsubishi electric hyper heat pump

I’ve been 3 years in the business and this year I barely started working on refrigeration units. The way you explain everything is so helpful and understandable. I always follow your procedures, thanks to my friend that recommended me your channel he used to work for you. Now he’s here in Austin Texas 🤘🏼

Of course you need a differential but theoretically all you need is 1psi. Are you in Barrhaven ?

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @halverde6373 says:

A TXV is mainly to protect the compressor from liquid slugging.
I myself always tried to keep the evaporators as flooded as possible due to limited power available in Alaskan villages.

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @halverde6373 says:

ALWAYS use a suction accumulator and a low head doesn't matter if the TXV gets stuck open.
Can be used for high, medium or low temp applications.

No doubt you know what you are doing. Love the pleated filters in the MUA unit. Changed the wrong RTU unit? How does that happen .. oh let me guess…..the lowest bidder I bet. I used to use a checklist to check everything on every service call to cover my butt. Most techs do not do this…..and they should check everything. Also…it is wise to carry two 9721 fan motors in truck stock for the very reason you pointed out. Change both motors not just one motor. Great job! Your customers are blessed to have a technician like you. I hope they know what they got!

I've found that the proper tension is to leave a little plastic hanging to the zip ties as cutting them flush weakens the plastic too much in the area of the plastic ratchet.

If they put boxes there, might be an idea to put a small bracket around the top of the temp probe and by the wire, to force a bit of clearance. Might help.

Thank you for cutting the zip-tie tails. Even if it decapitates someone, at least you made it look like a professional did the work. Not saying you aren't a pro if course. Just a huge peeve of mine when people leave tails on. And flush cuts are tiny, take up a little room… just sayin' 😉

The 'stealing time' problem is fast becoming an epidemic across an increasing number of industries. Sometimes it's because of a genuinely bad work environment that's difficult to get out of for a number of reasons. What I've seen most of, though, is a sense of 'entitlement' from mostly younger people that is slowly spreading like a cancer to older and more experienced workers. It's not just a 'time stealing' problem but also a work ethic problem where people are paid to do a job but do the minimum and lowest quality work they think they can get away with. If a company gets a bad manager, then it can rapidly spiral downward with work ethic and quality in 'freefall'. I personally witnessed this recently and stopped dealing with that company unless I needed to, because it got so bad. I made contact with senior management about it several times. Fortunately there has now been a small improvement but this shouldn't be happening in the first place.

Some businesses, sadly, are just going to suffer because a lot of young people are staggeringly incompetent at doing anything real and have practically no work ethic or any sense of responsibility. The company I worked for decided not to take on certain demographics because it was so bad with experienced employees forever having to go round after these young people, fixing everything they just completely screwed up. It's not that these young people didn't receive any training and support, it's that they simply could not care less about anyone or anything but themselves. This makes for a bad situation not only for an employer but for people, including young people with a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility seeking employment.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @RayRay-nb7tn says:

Well said Chris you are not worth stealing time from your company, I rather give time than steal it from a company. Good video on what to look and hear things as you work to keep the company invested in you. For sure.

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @user-uk3jo6tm8c says:

-3F SST on a 28 degree room temp ?! That system is not running properly, it all goes back to the undersized Evaporator fans. Not a properly run service call. Wrong condenser motors and wrong evaporator fan blades, which means more issues down the line.

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @makinbac0n says:

You say big picture, I say thorough. Yes, it makes you more money but also allows you to inform the customer of all the problems they need to know. It is always up to the customer whether they want to fix it or band-aid it. A good tech like Chris finds all of the problems that a business needs to know in order to keep their equipment operating which keeps the business running. Well done, sir. I wonder if people who don't understand regular maintenance get their car's oil changed or do they drive it till its screwed.

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @user-uk3jo6tm8c says:

9721 are not meant for 14" 5 paddle fans , only for evaporator 12", they will go bad very quick
