Hey guys, joshua griffin, air here hartfield virginia and wanted to do a quick video on automatic changeover on a thermostat and basically, what that means is. It's has the capability of running heat and cool at the same time, and the reason that would be important is you know here in virginia. As you know, there are times in the fall and spring where it seems like you, wake up in the morning and you're. Turning the ac on and then at night, it seems like you're turning the heat on and it's like a constant back and forth battle.

Well, i have a honeywell 9000 here i'll show you and uh. Basically, you have the capability to set a temperature if it goes below a certain amount and a temperature if it goes above a certain amount that it'll pull it back down to a comfortable temperature for you and the reason i wanted to do this. Video is a lot of folks, don't realize that their thermostat might have this capability, but may not be programmed for it. So just real quick if you do have a honeywell 9000, here's exactly how you want to turn that automatic changeover on.

If you go to menu come down to preferences and then you want to come down to advanced preferences all right, so we have a number of different options here, i'm going to skip through most of this, but this is the option i was talking about. So if it said manual, if you switch it to automatic, that's how you would turn that function on to be able to control the heat and cool at the same time, depending on what the temperature is doing so get out of all this. And as you see it's already on, but if the system is on just cool lonely uh, that option will not be there, so you want to come up. The system switch it to automatic done and then you can control the heat and cool at the same time.

So that's pretty much it if you have any questions or want to see if your thermostat has this capability you're tired of fighting it switching it from ac to heat, feels like it's a constant battle. Um rest assured that you may not have to uh give us a call we'd love to earn your business phone number is 804-505-0247. Thank you.

My friend, I know it's been years of this video, but I'm trying to understand how the auto function works, in concept, I don't get why in your video it says Cool to 73 and Heat to 70 in the Auto mode, what's the logic? what's the reasoning? if it gets too cold, heat up to 70 and if it gets too hot, cool down to 73?

Is there a therm I can buy with this auto changeover if you only have R/W/G/Y on your existing therm? Thanks

Can you use this setting with dual thermostats? I have a 2 zone system with a thermostat upstairs and downstairs, and the ambient temps are very different between each floor. Will the cooling and heating contradict each other?

Just wish more thermostats would have a lockout to lock the heat if it is above say 65 outside and lock the cool if it is below 40 degrees outside. Honeywell will turn the heat on when it is 80 outside. This can happen when there is a temporary cooling override to say 70 inside, when it expires and goes back to the scheduled setpoint it may turn the heat on to warm it to the scheduled setpoint. We all know it will warm up quick without needing to run the heat. So dumb Honeywell doesn't have this simple feature.
