I was told it could be up to a year for new plates and that they were willing to give smaller plates that would reduce capacity instead that would only take a few weeks to a month to receive.... I was like wtf

Foreign if you know you know Hoshizaki ice machine. Gee always have the leaks at the aeroquip fittings. Fun stuff. I Guess that's typical too of a Hoshizaki, right? Too many.
Christmas Total plate separation all over this thing. These things are junk.
It’s too bad but most if not all commercial kitchen equipment, hot and cold has gone down hill . Top brands are no different or worse then off brands in quality and reliability these days . Are you in Nepean ?

early evap separation was a factory defect on serial numbers starting with G and going through J's. older hoshis tyoically seperate at 12-15 yrs old.
I gotta ask, do you know who installed the machine? I know you talk about issues with those fittings a lot, and it makes me wonder if there's some fly by night installer in your area. Im not trying to be a fan boy im genuinely curious. Ive been doing restaurant maintenance on the east coast for 12 years for a restaurant that pretty much exclusively uses hoshizaki and out of the 15 restaurants i regularly serve each having 2 machines usually a km-900 and a km-1340 ive only ever had to fix one leaking fitting that i can remember. Or is it maybe a age thing? The restaurant I work with is pretty good about replacing units after about 10 years. Ive also only seen plate separation that bad like that 2x that i can remember.

yep that was strange. Got one now in fridge,But water supply tube nd fittings always get clogged nd frozen.

Hoshi in my book is one of the best, when you get a good one that is.
Hate working on them. Never recommend them.
Warranty work sucks. Used to take close to 6 months to get paid.

That separation is crazy.
Been working on ice machines for 40+ years… I gotta assume Hoshi didn't pay you or something. What I see there is a total lack of maintenance. which causes freeze ups which causes separations. Out of all ice machines, I loved hoshi for how fast they make ice and hold up in our SW florida by the beach environments.

I agree I have a double decker one it’s huge. I will give it some point for making huge amounts of ice fast tho.
Hardest to clean correctly, evaporator are trash. I tell my customers to avoid them like the plague. Still not as bad as the new CIM crap o matic
