Hey Pool Owners: did you just shock your pool and now the water is all cloudy? Don't worry, it means the shock is working. When you add chlorine shock to your water, it kills contaminants like algae spores. The dead algae then floats in the water causing cloudiness. You can add pool clarifier or pull flocculent to help clear things up.

Cloudy water can also happen because your pH alkalinity or calcium hardness levels are off and some shocks like Cal hypo can raise your pH So be sure to balance your water before you add shock to help prevent cloudy water. Follow us at some University for more pool care tips throughout the year.
