The problem with Tesla is that they have a bad tendency of over engineering their products and fail to recognize the obvious – a dead battery will cause serious issues. You can bet that Tesla will add multiple levels of complexity to their HVAC products.

I am a Tesla owner. The guy on the video unfortunately does not know much about his car. Tesla's have 2 batteries. A high voltage battery that let's the car drive down the road, and a 12 volt battery just like every gas engine car. The 12 volt battery's main function is to engage and disengage a contactor for the high voltage battery. This allows the car to go to sleep while it is parked. The 12 volt battery also locks and unlocks the doors. So his 12 volt battery is dead, not the main high voltage battery. Tesla has thought of this, and there is an access panel at the front of the car that allows you to jump it and unlock the vehicle. The Tesla 12 volt battery is like any other lead acid battery so it will need to be replaced every few years. Tesla's high voltage batteries are designed to last several hundred thousand miles. If getting proof of ownership is so complicated then there are 2 solutions. Go to the DMV and apply for a duplicate or just break your own window and retreave it.
