Hey Pool Owners: If you've got cloudy pool water, there are two ways you can clear it up: Adding clarifier or adding flocculent, but which one should you use? Full clarifier coagulates small particles into smaller clumps that can be removed by your pool filter. It's easier than using flocculent, but not as powerful and generally takes longer to clear up your pool water. Pool Flocculent coagulates small particles into larger clumps that sinks them to the bottom of the pool. Flocculent is much faster and more effective than a clarifier, but it requires more work.

It must be manually removed with a pool vacuum with your filter on the waste setting. So if your water is only a little cloudy or you have a cartridge filter without a waste setting, use clarifier. But if you have really cloudy water and you don't mind the work of vacuuming, use flocculent. Follow us at Swim University for more pool care.

Tips: Throughout the year.

What is โ€œwaste settingโ€? My Pentair FNS filter doesnโ€™t have this

What if you have an in-floor cleaning system like the Q360

I think if you saw my dinosaur of a pool you'd have a stroke. Pool companies won't even touch my pool for under $200
