Hey everybody welcome to swimuniversity.com. My name is matt javanese and today i'm going to show you how to remove clean and store your pool safety cover. Okay. In order to do this, we need a few items on hand.

First, you need a safety cover, removal rod. Here we got this one from loop, lock, safety covers, we have the hex key, which screws down the anchors into the concrete, and what i have to do is clean the cover i like to use natural chemistries spray on cleaner. You can pick this up either on our website or at your local pool store, and what you do is you just hook it up to a regular garden hose spray, the top of the cover brush it. If you need to do that and then rinse it off with a hose okay, first thing: we're going to do is remove the cover completely we're going to use this insulation rod to pop off the safety cover from the anchors once the safety cover is off.

The anchors we're going to take our hex key here and screw down all the anchors that way, no one trips over them, while you're taking the cover off and that way it doesn't rip the cover while you're pulling it off we're going to take the cover and We're going to fold it into sections as we remove it one at a time just keep folding it over until it's already out of the pool once you get to the end, try not to drag the cover on the concrete, try to lift it up. If you can and pull it off to the side, then we're going to fold it over many times until we can get it to fit inside the bag that it came with. Now you might have a bag, you might not. If you do have a bag, we recommend that you put the safety cover inside the bag, put it into your shed or garage and hang it up high so that no creatures can get to it.

What i recommend doing is buying a tupperware container large enough to hold it and store it inside the tupperware container. So that way, no creatures or bugs can get to your cover and destroy it. Okay, that's it! That's all! You need to do to remove clean and store your pool safety cover. Of course, you can just visit our website, which is swimuniversity.com, and thanks for watching good.

You.

No just NO. This is NOT how you take off a pool cover. As the owner of "The Pool Guys" in Bristol TN I will tell you that is the hardest way to take off a cover. And makes even more difficult to put it back on when it's time to close. Simple way…two people stand at the shallow end, pull the cover slightly up on the deck then FAN FOLD it off cleaning each fold if necessary as you go. Then roll each side to the middle and put it in the cover bag that should have come with the cover if it's a 'safety cover'. When it's time to close the pool all you have to do is take the cover out of the bag at the shallow end. Roll it out and walk it down the sides. All done. None of this having to figure out how it was folded and dragging it out in the yard to get ready to go on the pool.

    Great video and suggestions.
I just moved in this house and my pool has a Yard Guard pool cover on it but no pool equipment. Where online can I find the tools to a) remove the springs and b) screw down the anchors. Thanks for your help!
