It doesn't matter to me whether you do short or long videos.
You could always slap one to three short calls together into one longer video, if you prefer. Whatever works for you! I'll be tuning in either way.
Winter is comingโ๏ธ Service area Ottawa??
this is so funny, I ran across this exact same unit at canada olympic park in calgary two days ago. Diagnosed a bad controller, unit had frozen two kegs solid over night. We were both slamming dixell universals into the same unit at the same time probably lol Service area Nepean??
Love the videos, keep up the good work! I like the variety of different units you work on and take the time to make videos on, have even found myself referring back to some of your video to re-educate myself. Iโm still very green on the โRโ side of this but like you said understand the operation and start there. ๐๐ป๐๐ป
i think i said it before but those coolers are DISGUSTING. Are they not forced by some health law to clean them?
I prefer short and sweet to no videos posted. Keep up the good work ๐

It's funny because I've worked on these things for previous companies these things will really test your patience with the customers. They have all this equipment that really adds up for their operations but yet they still neglect the ish out of them. Going from these to pumped ammonia makes it easier to understand the refrigeration systems. Well played sir. Showing these young guys why you get paid so much for so little time on the job.
why you didnโt show How to wire those dixel controllers
They build those here in my area. Water should never be there unless customer put it there
Everytime you work on a unit inside a restaurant/bar/food place,
It makes me want to puke. ^.^
I love my Leatherman tool
Just put in a whole new bar cooler for the same chain… I can tell where itโs at especially the location of the floor drain. We hired a moving company to lift the cooler over the bar. Did they run the CO2 and beer lines by drilling through both boxes and then the drain for trough goes out the bottom of one of the coolers?
Hey Chris, I like your podcast/social media. Hmmm, no rats???
I like those universal Dixell XR60 controllers. So much easier to buy local, and replace the OEM one, instead of waiting to order to correct one. I've had good luck with them. Sometimes I'll add a 120v coil contactor if the condensing unit is over 1/3 hp. 1/3 and under the contacts can handle it no problem, rated to 54 LRA I believe. I just installed one in a Berg DD 8 tap keg cooler yesterday, the OEM stupid electronic dial temperature controller died was only 3 weeks old. One of those electronic ones, but has a dial numbered 1-9. Customer didn't like it because no way to tell what the actual set point was. I set the dixell to 35 degrees, and left it on the default 3x a day defrost.
I had a call this week on a glass tender almost identical to this one. The evaporator had a nice leak on the U bend and it lost the entire charge. How would you go about replacing an evaporator and TXV on this unit? Incredibly small space to burn pipe in.
wow a short video, was expecting something around 40 minutes lol
I hate defrosting those style of glass tender. Time for the garden hose !
Awesome job as always. Did you program the universal controller for only one sensor (cabinet) or two sensors (cabinet & coil) sensor?
Dixel universal R is much better. Are you in Kanata ?
540 thumbs up
Iโve learned a ton about refrigeration from watching your videos. Iโm thinking of becoming a refrigeration and air conditioning mechanic, so your videos are really really helpful. I also think youโd be a great guy to apprentice under. Keep up the great work Chris!! ๐
Tryin to be constructive with this feedback. I really enjoy seeing the HVAC problems you face and seeing your steps to troubleshoot but have zero interest in the life advice overly obvious type comments like hearing how they need their beer cooler working because it's how they make money bla, bla, bla is just a royal turn off for me… my 2 cents
I honestly would like to see more videos of you working on reach-in equipment Service area Orleans??
Great job Chris
Dixell controller's are known for the compressor relay inside sticking then when you disconnect power it works fine then sticks again change them all the time
I have a standing freezer here at home. A Whirlpool brand. The controller just went out on it. The display just blinks between set temp and just lines. And every time it showed the set temp the compressor made a noise. Took it apart, was just five wires, two for the probe, neutral and line in, and line out to the compressor. Had a STC-1000 chinesium model on the shelf, just threw it there and duct taped the probe inside the freezer and got it back up running. Now have to troubleshoot the original control panel Are you in Ottawa ?

I defrost those under counter coolers with a hair drier. Close the doors and put it in there on low and check it in 30 mins
๐๐ช๐๐บ๐ธโ nice vid. Do u have to program defrost on that cooler or is that what manufacturer recommends ? Thinking beer cooler off cycle defrost should b fine even at 35 maybe 1 at night. Thanks for sharing ๐
Short one today Chris
It seems odd how these controllers, as well as other parts like contactors, arenโt better suited for the environments they are in.
Thanks for your vids.
Posted right at the end of my lunch. Don't think I'll get in trouble for watching this though since this is school related. ๐ Are you in Barrhaven ?
Simple but well needed to fix
