So this is a Manitowoc with multiple problems

Nothing no response at all, so we're gon na change out this module right here I went ahead and pulled this plug. I don't see any damage to it. Modules right here now, don't open it out! Go ahead! Start this guy up so as soon as it goes into the freeze mode. That's what we're going to start our timer everything's down here.

So we can see everything we're gon na start, a timer and every two minutes we're going to record the suction and discharge and then through the harvest, we're gon na. Do it like every 10 seconds suction discharge, then we're going to compare it to what the book says. 70 degrees I've got here, so we can see what the Headmaster's doing so we can see. I got it on three different points on the discharge line.

The liquid drain and the liquid line, so we can actually see the headmaster open up and close g1 is the discharge. G2 is a liquid drain. Here is the liquid line coming downstairs and that's our how gran vía so we're still waiting for it to go into. Freeze mode turn it into real-time temp and data.

It will tell you what cycle it's in right now, he's preaching so as soon as the water pump turns on that's the freeze mode. We start our timer to win the freeze mode. So now I go to the timer we're gon na start our stopwatch and we're gon na go back and every two minutes we're gon na record. Our pressures onto our sheet ciara headmaster is not by passing at the moment.

It looks like it's starting to a little bit. No, not much but what's happening is our fan. Cycle control is turning on and off we're paying attention. The microphones frequency this way and we're also checking the thickness of the ice just barely starting the form.

There's ice on one side, but barely any ice on another side, so something's going on here. Nice is not farming at the tongue, but it's forming at the bottom of the left. Evaporator something Bonhams got thick ice. The top barely has any something's not right there.

Let's go ahead and scroll up and look at our temperatures, some liquid line that she pours 39 degrees. So you guys can hear this sound sounds like the txt. It just went into harvest, I'm gon na hit laughs and then I'm gon na go right down. My pressures get our headmaster, so it's bypassing 130 to 85.

Let's look up at temperatures. 1:31 86, with our headmaster, I'm 3288 just harvested, so we hit laughs and then we hit stop see our times right. There we're having a problem, because this side is not blowing as much see. The difference is a little bit subtle up in here when it leaves the water pump.

It goes into a t. One side goes here and then the other side goes around the machine. I found a bunch of sludge in that team and then also there's a barbed fitting like coupling right. Here too, you can actually see it right in the middle of the picture there.

That was full of sludge too, but even after I cleaned that it's still slow over there. So I cleaned up now pulled everything out. If you can see a difference, but over the top white part is coming out pretty good now pretty evenly. I went ahead and took the other machine apart, clean that one that one was not as dirty.
This almost filthy now we're just gon na watch him make ice again. That was an interesting one. Screencap called any ice machine. Actually, I went out there to replace a touchpad display because it wasn't responding to let you turn on the machine so replace that turn the machine on had a bunch of safeties in it when you, when you see that mini it's just kind of you know, there's Something going on so anyways cleared.

All the safeties out put my gauges on it. Long story short. What I found was that the machine was dirty. It was you know, gummed up with slime and gunk and stuff went ahead and cleaned all that out.

Then I found that the left side evaporator the harvest valve or the cool vapor valve - is leaking by. So I'm not getting an even ice formation on the Left evaporator on the outlet of the left evaporator. Basically, it's not making any ice. So it's making it on the inlet the bottom side, but then, as it's coming out, it's just on and the way I diagnosed, the cool vapor valve was put temperature clamps.

We've got a right and a left side. Evaporator. I put temperature clamps on the outlet of the cool vapor valve so going to the evaporator about an inch away from the valve, and then I put the machine into a freeze cycle and let it run and just before it was going to harvest. I had on the left side evaporator, I had 70 degrees coming out of the cool vapor valve and on the right side.

Evaporator didn't have you know I mean it was. It was reading 40 degrees, which basically was the evaporator temperature. You know coming out of the evap and then at the same time to diagnose, make sure it wasn't a TX PSU. I checked the temperatures going into the evaporator and they were good, so I shouldn't have 70 degrees anywhere on that evaporator circuit.

You know, especially on that cool vapor valve so anyways, so it's got a bad cool vapor valve. So at this point I went ahead and thickened up the ice in hopes that they get something out of that machine. It's probably just gon na shut off on a safety again, but I went ahead and thickened it up. So that way, it'll make super thick on the right side and maybe make something on the left side temporarily until I contact the facilities Department and see what they want to do about that machine, because they're already damn near $ 1,000 into it.

So I'm sure they're gon na fix that, but I just basically got to ask permission at this point because they've already approved up until where we're at right now, but we've had some more problems. So that's it.

Hi Chris, I recently work on my first quiet cube IY1874C-161 and it has been an butt kicker.

It freeze it ok on both evap. My pressure on low side and high side are within specs. I had recovered everything out and weight the factory charge of 15 LSB in today But it doing the same thing

The problem was my left side evap would harvest and my right side evap never did.

My question is should the right side evap (the one with the ice thickness probe) drop ice first. And, then the left side evap (the one which the curtain switch drop right after.

I have brought a senior tech with me today and he condemned the harvest valve on the right side evap. And we will order the harvest valve and filter drier to replace it.

I hope that is the issue because i have been out there 4 times. 1st time clean, 2nd times replace ice thickness probe. 3rd time replace T3, T4 sensor, 4 times recovered the charge and weight in 15 Lsb of factory charge

I hope u read this and reply. Thank you sir.

Does everybody let their ice machines foul up? I think from now on I'll order without ice, even in summer…

I’m curious. Do many folks mind or even know you’re videoing? Would love to know the logistics with doing that sort of stuff on the job!

ive had multiple issues with those displays. Typically ive found the display wont respond when you press the buttons and the display just displays a bunch of random characters.

Little tip, if you get a display that isn't responding and/or shows a bunch of odd characters across it like $$$ or ??? All across it, reach back and unplug then plug the display back in. It's worked several times for me, a couple units are going on 3 years now

I have a question. I have never heard of a cool vapor valve. Is this set-up unique to Manitowoc ice machines? Our cafeteria at my jobsite uses Hoshizaki machines. I would think the TXV would go straight into the evaporator with of course a hot gas bypass line that bypasses the TXV for the harvest of ice. I don't understand the purpose of this control. Can you explain the cool vapor valve a little more? Thanks.

had a question I wanted to ask a refrigeration guy, I been doing commercial industrial hvac for my pops for 5 years now, but have been wanting to do more refrigeration which is what my uncle does strictly restaurant refrigeration, anyways when I ask both of them about there opinion they tell me I'm nuts for wanting to leave industrial and go to refrigeration if cheap customers and dirty equipment doesn't bother me would u recommend I make the switch Are you in Nepean ?
