Got a veto Tech Pack Wheeler Edition This is probably one of the first ones I Got it two and a half years ago. two years ago. Something like that when I actually hurt my neck I had a pinched nerve I had just bought the veto Tech Pack Blackout Edition to replace a worn out bag not a warranty issue and uh then I hurt my neck and I still have that pinched nerve. It's just something I'm working with, but this has saved me.

It's awesome because it has wheels on the back right here allows you to wheel it in it is a backpack. It's not as comfortable as the normal Tech packs. The padding's not the same. the straps aren't the same, but it serves a purpose because it has the wheels and it has a telescoping handle.

An issue that I'm having though, is on the bottom. the the rubber bump stops that protect the bottom of the hard shell are completely worn off. and when you set the bag down, it rubs and it's rubbing into the plastic base. Okay, so that's one issue.

but the main issue is the telescoping handle is very erratic how it works. So you push this button. it pulls up, you roll it into the place and it's hit and miss. Sometimes when you push the button, these disengage.

Sometimes they don't. Let's try and see. Okay, so this side has pulled in right here. Okay, I'm pushing the button all the way on the top.

This side is not pulling in. It's hit and miss. Sometimes it works, Sometimes it doesn't there. Now it worked.

It's really a pain in the butt. So let's do a warranty claim on this thing. I Want to see if there's zero downtime? Warranty really is as good as they say it is now. Spoiler I've done a warranty claim like many, many years ago because I've used veto bags for years.

but it has literally been like four or five years since I've done a warranty claim, so let's see if it's real. I'm going to do a warranty claim. I'm not going to use anything associated with the video, just going to use my name and my home address. So that way they don't get any hints that I'm potentially doing a video on this.

and we're going to test their zero downtime warranty and see how it works out. So stay tuned. I'm going to go ahead and file the claim right now. Follow their instructions and I will keep you updated on what happens.

All right. I am currently submitting the warranty claim. so I'm following all their instructions I put my normal name, my personal email address so it has nothing associated with Hvacr videos now. I'm going to turn the camera off when I scroll past my address, but then I'll show you guys the rest right now.

All right the information about the bag, the Tech pack, wheeler and actually I purchased it on 217.21 a purchase price True Tech tools and then I uploaded all the pictures they required. Now again, this is a test because I am not um, letting them know that I have a YouTube channel that I make in a video. this has no affiliation with Veto Pro Pack. Okay, I am gonna click on the video that it has a paid endorsement but that's simply because that's that's legal rules that I have to do because I have affiliate links in the show notes.
Okay, because I do have an affiliate program set up with True Tech Tools but this in no way is affiliated with Veto so this is the true test. I'm gonna show. Is this gonna be difficult? Is this going to be easy? What are they going to do? What are they going to send me? So stay tuned! I Hit, submit warranty claim and we will see what Veto has to say. All right! I Got an email back from Veto Pro Pack and they said that the damage to my bag was covered under warranty and the loaner bag that they sent me which actually was a Brand New Bag They said to go ahead and keep it so issue resolved.

My bag is taken care of. They covered the issues under warranty at the same time with the new bag and with the first time I got the original bag I Got this notice in there saying don't lift you know from the handle like when you're roping it. don't do that and they wanted you to order this special strap that they have now at the time I couldn't figure out where to get that strap from and I'm pretty sure that I went to Veto Pro Pack's website and they didn't have it on their website either. but I could be wrong.

that was a while ago. Okay, this time I went to Veto Pro Pack's website and I put in this part number vpp10220 and nothing came up. but when I put wheeler hoist strap I believe that was the text I put in there. Then all of a sudden it came up.

So I went ahead and ordered the Hoist strap. um I don't know. cost me like 40 bucks or something like that with shipping. Honestly it kind of looks like a big chastity belt.

Um, let me get it on and I'll show you guys so you see what I mean it like. totally whatever I get it. I get the point. they don't want you to use this handle.

But the interesting thing first off, I I don't know if I'll use this because I mean I guess I'm going to use it I have to use it right? The other alternative would be grab from this d-ring and this d-ring with the Rope. But finding a center pole like you'd have to do some creative knot tying to make sure you get a center pull on it. This right here gives you a strap and a strap on each side. You can put the Rope shackle because my rope has a a carabiner on it so you can put it through there.

Then you can safely lift up the bag and it's pulling on the d-rings instead of pulling on this. I guess I can I guess I'll probably just store this in the back of the bag right here because uh, the straps are usually stored in there because I usually don't use the backpack portion unless I'm climbing a ladder, but occasionally most of the time I try to rope it whenever I can. now. um, the old bag I was roping from here right? and I mean you weren't supposed to.

But what else was I supposed to do when at the time I couldn't find the strap but it could be just that. I was an idiot and I couldn't find the strap I wouldn't say necessarily though that I mean I guess no. I I Do think that roping from here is what caused the damage and caused these guys to not push in and out every single time you push the button on the top. I Do think that that had something to do with it, but I mean let's be real about this.
I Love veto and I love this bag, but why have a handle? It's no different than tying a rope to it and roping it up, then grabbing it and walking with it. Either way, you're putting unneeded stress on these guys right here. So I think it's going to be something that's just going to be a failure point and I'm just going to have to make sure I keep on top of that and send the bag in for warranty whenever those things wear out. ideally you roll it.

but I mean there's times that you're walking upstairs and you grab this. you know you just grab it and walk with it when you're walking up the stairs or something like that. or there's times when I'm rolling it and I come up the stairs and I'll just grab it from right here, lift it up the stairs, then continue rolling. So again, I'm not trying to knock veto because obviously I support the heck out of them.

I've got their their bags everywhere and I've used them for years. I love them. Um, that's the tech pack that I keep all my smart probes and all that stuff in this is the bag that oh my gosh, this thing is amazing right here. this thing, the Ctxl I put all kinds of stuff in that one rope and stuff up on the roof.

So anyways, uh I mean I appreciate the zero downtime warranty and I appreciate them taking care of the bag that was broken. Uh, the other thing I will say is these, we gotta watch out for these and mine were completely worn out to the point that I was wearing this out and these are a high failure point on this guy. So I gotta really keep on that and maybe reach out to Veto and see if I can get some extra ones for when this wears out that way. Another cool thing about this bag that I don't know if I've ever told anybody about that I really like is right here.

They have a handle. if you look, it's extra reinforced and I find that extremely convenient when you're going to lift the bag with two hands. grab one hand here, one hand here. and because the bag is so heavy because I have so much stuff in it, that handle comes in really handy.

So I really do appreciate that handle. Someone clearly thought that out pretty well, you know I try not to keep this too too overloaded, but I mean it has everything that I need in it and then just a few things in the back. So good on Veto for taking care of the warranty and that's it again. I Had you know Veto knew nothing about this I wanted to completely audit their process and I figured I was doing a warranty so why not go ahead and uh, try it and put it on film and good on them for honoring the warranty.
Accepting the fact that the damage you know wasn't really anything that I caused deliberately right? I I Do think that the damage is because of the design I believe that the telescoping handle after that however long I had a year and a half two years or something I believe the telescoping handle just had unneeded stress on those little buttons and the little bump stops on the bottom. Normally that's something that someone would say is normal wear and tear. and I agree. it probably is.

but they were good and they took care of everything. So good on you veto. and uh again, this was was not an endorsed thing. Nobody paid me or anything like that.

It is what it is I Just like to do these kind of videos. Try to do some more of these tool videos a little bit more so stay tuned. I Really appreciate you. If you're interested in supporting the channel, go to my website Hvacrvideos.com Several different ways on there merch available.

Strap not needed; a better handle, stronger with fail-proof material, is what's needed. Get it done, Veto or lose your clout.

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeremy Blomquist says:

The problem you were experiencing with the telescoping handle is a normal wear condition. All you have to do is grease the locking pin and it would have worked just like it did when it was brand new. I've owned several tool bags and that would have been a 3-minute fix. The scraped up bottom, I have no answer for that.

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars 95thousandroses says:

Seems like its more of a liability thing with the strap. They don't really intent for people to use it. The handle should normally be strong enough to lift with but if the little buttons failed while hoisting 20ft in the air and came down on someone then that's a lawsuit. I mean how many times in a day is it lifted from the handle just for short distances i.e. up a some stairs, or out of van.

I’ve broken two mp2 pouches. Snaps do not hold up. They replaced the first one no problem. Second one I’m rockin with a zip tie! Love the pouch. Love the company. Snaps are terrible. Might as well just drill the snaps out when you get them and use a zip tie or 550 cord.

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Watson says:

They could easily fix this with a metal u bolt on the center point (or something similar)

From the man himself: I got a heart!!

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Phillip Olmeda says:

I made a warranty claim last year because the stitching came loose on a zipper and some other wear. They sent a brand new loaner bag and told me to keep it. Veto is the way to go for sure.

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars HVAC Chillin says:

Good video I’m glad Veto came through. They’ve always warrantied my bags whenever I’ve had issues.

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jason Johnson says:

Finally a company that stands behind their product….and honors their warranty….thats kinda rare nowadays. Thanks for sharing the video Chris

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David Wishengrad Exorcist, 1st class says:

No, you don't have to kill cows to make a bag. They are clearly a company who does not take the truth of the importance of life seriously. You can find better if you look. It all comes down to whether you honestly care about the truth of the importance of life itself or not. That's your choice.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hamilton Mechanical says:

This is really common for telescoping handles. I think I may have mentioned before but I spent 9 years making very high end flight cases that used recessed wheels and telescoping handles. These were common issues on those as well. Feet, man it took me forever to find a well made foot with a metal inside so it'd stay fastened to the bottom of the case. After replacing a couple, I learned to manufacture my cases in such a way that I could nearly replace the handle without taking the whole case apart. If they'd given me captive nuts then I could have done it 100%, but it was still an improvement. Really curious to see how this works out! I avoided the wheeler not only because it seems super heavy, but I don't think my wife would go for the price tag either 🙂 One of my students has a blackout pro pac and the threads came out of the strap, completely. I'll see if I can get a photo of it. I told him to call them and get it warrantied.

    Nice video

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chad Hart says:

Used to have rolly-bags for work (sales/reps – nothing heavy duty like this!) and it was incredible how some bags we got just SUCKED and other bags really stood the test of time. Lots of miles on those rolly-bags. Hard to tell in advance when a brand/model was going to be good. I wish we had a bag like this! Are you in Orleans ?

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars J DE says:

Well… I guess that the warranty "may be" worth the cost of the bag.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Samuel Aranda says:

Man !!!!! I’m retired after 35 years a year ago. I had a small veto for my trouble shoot. But I had a bucket boss 44 to hoist up anything else. After I figured out what Need on the 1st trip at the Van. I’d be down the roof thinking about fixing the unit while your still trying to figure how to put that straps on.

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Isaiah says:

Hi Chris I’m looking for work I’m in the inland empire can I send you my resume? Are you in Barrhaven ?

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ashley Gill says:

I would expect the reason not to hoist from the handle is over the risk of a dropped load, not damaging the handle. Service area Nepean??

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rich Batzek says:

just clip the carabiner in the hole in the metal shoulder strap bracket.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Pete Nikolic says:

Nowhere near the stress pulling it compared with ouiking it up via the handle it has side loops so easy to use even use you carabina thru the metal loops and clipped onto itself seconds taken lot kinder on the bag Service area Kanata??

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars clive ramsbotty says:

they use the rail system that lots of other bag brands use, absolute garbage they always fail. klein are the only company that make a good wheel case with extension handle.

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Steve Blake says:

    306 thumbs up

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tokaisho says:

If those catches stick again, can you try oil or a light grease to lubricate them?

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Diener Christi says:

I bought the ct xl recently and it’s certainly fabulous. One thing I saw is that it is load rated for just over a ton.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nobody says:

Appears on video, this bag / pack has a metal plate on top with a hole in it. If plate is solid, could be used a rope lift point. I used to lift bags by rope from their handles, occasionally from the bag thin side D rings. (Time consuming for extra rigging).

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Travis Ellis says:

    Veto is the best

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Haller says:

I wonder if it's a safety thing, and if it's possible for the handle to completely detach, and if the D-rings are more firmly attached. I doubt you would want to drop test your tools from 20 feet if the handle detached during a lift. It could also provide them some legal cover if someone walked under the lift area and the bag hit them. If you don't use the lift strap they sell, they have covered their liability. Service area Barrhaven??

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Roger Foster says:

When I was an electrician (retired now) I had hit or miss with warranty claims like Klein Tools and other manufacturers. I'm glad you were able to get a replacement. Tools are too expensive to keep shelling out your hard working money!!

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars NHO says:

Have you tried to lubricate the telescoping handle?

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bas BlasterXP says:

My caselogic laptop has the same handle. Works great. It has skeeler wheels on it. Love it

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Arides2010 says:

My hardshell toolcase I use at work has wheels as well and you can guess what broke first. Granted our trainees back then thought it was smart roll a 38kg (about 75 pounds) toolcase over rough cobblestone pavement, but in the long run it would have failed there every time. And just to point it out: the case was ratetd for 40kg.

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Newbern TN Rails And Adventures says:

HVAC gear has a hard life and they should at the least make it where the model number of the hoist system they recommend should at least produce the item during a search

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tom Lech / LECH AIR CONDITIONING says:

Been looking to get one. Good to know their warranty is legitimate. Good to know about the warning not to lift it from the handle..

Will be putting my order in True Tech Tools using the BIGPICTURE discount code

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Skank says:

use a rope from d rings and there are suitable knots for what you're after. Add another knot to stabilize and finally a curl to add a carabiner. Are you in Ottawa ?

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ben Kleban says:

Maybe it's since I have been burned by amazon the last few times, but I got a serious problem with companies not including serious functioning parts WITH said item, or at least TELLING YOU UPFRONT that you need an additional part. Seems lately i loose more time pissing around ordering the shit I need rather than working.
