Plumbing hose bib/spigot tip! Save yourself the headache of creating a leak in the Winter! Griffin Air in Hartfield, VA giving a plumbing tip to avoid a costly repair to your hose bib. For more information visit https://www.griffinair.net/
In our post on springtime plumbing tips, we warned that if a household leak appears after the first time you turn on your hose, an internal pipe has probably frozen and cracked over the winter and needs to be replaced. We recommend fixing household leaks right away. Even frost-free hose bibs can freeze if a hose has been left attached over the winter. Always remember to detach your hose and any other attachments from the hose bib before freezing temperatures hit.
As you begin using your hose for gardening or watering your lawn, look out for any exterior leaks around the hose bib. Leaks may occur from the spout, around the handle, through the vacuum breaker, or from the stem behind the wall. These leaks can cause expensive damage to the exterior of your home or even the foundation.

Hey guys, josh with griffin, air, hartfield, virginia and um. We are working in white stone today and we just installed a hose bib and i just wanted to do a couple: quick tips on hose bibs and how you can save yourself a lot of headache and money by following a few quick tips. So here's the hose bed we just installed and if you notice it has an anti-siphon valve here that basically that acts like a vacuum breaker, so that water can't go back into the home. You know you don't want water, that's been in the garden hose to ever end up back where you know you could drink it and what this does is it actually goes back in the wall several inches and the reason that's important is when you turn this handle It goes through a stem several inches back in the wall and the reason that's important is when it's being turned it's shutting the uh water off back in the house.

So that way it inhibits um freezing of the valve and you know possibly a freezing pipe busting. It's supposed to inhibit that so here's a new one, and so you know here's the handle, and so it has this long stem and when you turn that handle it actually shuts the water off way back here and so here's the tip and while that's important, whether You have a garden hose connected to it, or maybe you have some sort of a valve connected to it. You always want to make sure that all of this is disconnected, or at least open. As you can see, this has valves on it um.

So that way, it won't have water trapped in there that can freeze in the winter time, we'd love to earn your business thanks for watching give us a call at 804 505 or visit us on the web at www.griffinair.net.
