This was a service call on a reach in cooler not working, this was a little custom unit that had been icing up and giving them consistent problems.

We have a service call on a little batter station. The compressors running the condenser fan motors not running, and the evaporator family is not running so we're gon na pull this bottom cage assembly apart check. The evaporator fan motor first got the Caged assembly out now. So now we into that evaporator and further diagnosed.

Why not? So when I came here, here's what I found the swine is disconnected, but there things like a wire cable is so we're gon na get that reconnected and then finished troubleshooting. So I came back here. Blew the drain out tried to blow from the other side. It wouldn't go, so I blew it from this side and then it released all the stuff fell out and then, while I'm back here, this port is all trashed on the gun.

Change this port, real, quick, clean up that condenser and then go have this guy put back together and the sight glasses flashing. So many budding some service gauges on it check that out. We're also gon na replace the defrost module because it's gummed up with grease and not holding time correctly cleared up the sightglass on this thing and what I noticed if someone was in here wrenching on this control, because the cut end was like 65 70 psi. So this should be a pump down circuit, so I went head and adjust today.

That's what happens if you leave these it's where the customer can see it, they think almond and start wrenching on them. So you always wan na be cautious about leaving I'm gon na, set it and then watch it turn on and on okay. So let's do a little recap here we had a little batter station. This is a tiny little box that had a wire had come off.

The evaporator fan motor terminal board, so the evaporator fan motor wasn't running. I went ahead and repaired that wire. It was a simple fix. The motors working fine and I went through the rest of the box found that the unit had a time clock that wasn't advancing properly.

It was gummed up with grease. The unit was a little short on refrigerant and the pressure control is set incorrectly. So I went ahead and topped off the charge, changed the defrost clock and then I talked to the customer about doing a leak check. They didn't want me to do it at this time, but they want me to come back on another day.

So what can we can take from this? Is you know, obviously, as I always say, look at the big picture. I found that the cord was all busted up and was eventually gon na short out. So that's something I took care of and then I also looked at the defrost clock. You know we got a.

I keep saying this, but it's very very important. We got to look past the the initial problem and diagnose the entire unit. Okay, it helps you. It helps your company and it helps the customer all at once, because they're getting a complete, thorough job they're getting a big picture.

They know exactly what's wrong with them. It really helps when you go to quote things, because if you go in there and just say, let's say it had a bad fan motor, oh it has a bad fan motor well, but then you find out that the defrost clock has got a problem and the Quarters shorty or is going to short out. You know it could be that you quote it and then the box goes down again. Then, even though it wasn't your fault that the defrost clock was going bad, that makes you look bad still, okay, so big picture.
Look at everything give them a full diagnosis. Let the customers make the decision on what they want to repair. That's the way I do it. You know that, and that does good for me.

That unit was super clean compared to the Chinese restaurant I was in yesterday, I've taken two showers and I'm still peeling the grease off my forearms. I always include a recommendation section on my invoices where I list things that should be addressed. Great video and advice thanks.
