Hey Pool Owners Which is better? A saltwater pool or a chlorine pool. If you have sensitive eyes and skin, a saltwater pool is a great alternative. Saltwater pools have a smoother, silkier feel to the water than chlorine pools, and you'll never have to buy and handle chlorine just Buy and add pool grade salt once or twice a year. But there's a downside: You'll need to buy an expensive salt water generator that requires ongoing maintenance.

so the cost difference between a saltwater pool and a chlorine pool evens out over time. and you're still technically swimming in water that has chlorine. That's because the salt water generator uses the salt in your water to make chlorine. Overall, a salt system is worth it for a better swimming experience and never having to handle a chlorine tablet again.

Had a salt water pool but reverted back to tablets after the salt unit packed in after a couple of years. 800 euro for a new unit. Don't notice the difference in water quality/ feel.
