In this video, we show a clip from our weekly live show where Joshua Griffin shares a story where the state stripped registration ownership of a contracting company from an owner, who was doing work he was not licensed to do, doing poor work, and not responding to customers when they had a complaint. This is a quite unique situation where the state had to get involved after a contractor was doing so many poor things to help the victims of his practices!

Want to start tonight's show out with a crazy, crazy, crazy story coming out of Connecticut and I'm going to get you guys to see my browser. let's see I guess it's called CT up here I Don't know if you guys can see my cursor, but it says the State revokes registration for owner of Danielson HVAC company after complaints. this is just crazy. It says the Department of Consumer Protection has revoked the Home Improvement contractor registration for Danielson Mann who they said was accused of Performing unlicensed HVAC work that caused significant damage to Consumers homes.

The department investigated Justin Llano and his company CT Heat Pros and said he elected not to defend the case. The allegations included in proper or incomplete installations of heating and cooling units: New Heating installation causing issues with existing cooling systems piping why water leaks, duct work that was under size for the space, shoddy workmanship, instances of work where no permits were obtained, unreturned phone calls, missed appointments, and unanswered requests for refunds according to the department, Investigators are continuing to follow up on complaints that were not included in this decision. In the Department of Consumer Protection said Llano was never licensed to perform any occupational work such as heating, piping, cooling duct, or sheet metal work. The hearing officer issued an order revoking Lano's Home Improvement contractor registration, assessing 74 625 dollars in civil penalties and awarding a hundred and fifty two thousand, two hundred, sixty five dollars and seven cents in restitution to the impacted customers.

The Department of Consumer Protection said it was working with consumers to obtain restitution and will help them submit applications to the Home Improvement guarantee fund. NBC CT responds first. Reported on the complaints against Llano in 2021. So this has been going on for a few years now.

It looks like I'm just going to kind of browse through the rest of this somebody looking for ten thousand dollars of relief for repairs Lana was facing criminal charges in separate case. Oh crazy, he has pled not guilty to those charges. In July 2021, the Department of Consumer Protection issued a call for additional complaints for consumers. They revoked the guy's license to be a contractor when he was doing unlicensed heating and air work.

I Hear people. Sometimes they'll comment on our stuff and say companies don't need to be licensed and just because they're not licensed doesn't mean they do bad work and a lot of times I Can't argue with that. Maybe it doesn't but it's obvious that this company was on the hook for not taking care of folks At for the very least, you know they weren't doing things properly. They weren't licensed to be doing the work they were doing, they weren't pulling permits, they weren't doing good work, and worst of all, after of all of that, they were not returning phone calls and things like that.
So anyway, what a crazy story out of Connecticut If you like this video I think you'll like this one even more. It's where I Talk about where you can find a good HVAC contractor and ways to avoid bad ones. Thanks for watching! Please hit that subscribe button. We'll see you next time.

Joshua, I have a 3000 sq ft home. and receiving estimates to replace only the lower-level gas heating system. I'm going with a Rheem unit. One estimate is for a Classic Plus 80% Gas Furnace, Single Stage, 75K BTU for $3,000, and the other is for a Rheem Classic Plus Series 50,000 BTU 80% AFUE single stage gas furnace for $3,991. I checked the online BTU coverage chart and the $50k does not seem to be adequate for the lower-level space. The tech reply regarding the 50K is that it is adequate and matches the current size of the AC and today's standard. Must the heating system BTUs match the AC BTUs and can damage result if they do not match? Thank you

Joshua is pretty bad that some of these so called HVAC companies do shoddy work, don't repair or correct complains and a slew of other problems. State intervention is necessary to weed out the bad apples that bring shame to our profession! In Texas we had some of those and they ended up paying steep fines and going to jail.- Sometimes the problem lies with consumers who hire them to get "A BETTER DEAL". Cheers.
